The village goes back and forth, arguing who should be put to death. As it is the first day the village is putting people on trial, no one really knows who they should vote for. AtlasHunter almost hangs at the gallows, but Tommy decides to take back that vote and saves Atlas' life. No one will be hung this evening.

The villagers go off to sleep, and the howling begins.

Each villager worries that they are next, and the howling gets closer and closer to someone's door.

But then suddenly, the howling stops and moves slowly away.

I thought the escort died in that case, but it's that or the ww's just didn't vote. Really weird

I don't think so, at least that's not how I interpret the rules linked in the OP. So we probably have an escort who knows who the Alpha Wolf is, now the question is if it is smart for him to reveal that or stay hidden and just block that person every other turn.

From the rules:
Escort - The Escort is of the night, and lives to... distract people. Once per night, the Escort may choose to distract someone. If that person has a role, they will not be able to perform their job for the evening. Distract the doctor, he doesn't visit his patient. Distract the alpha wolf, there is no kill! (The seer cannot be distracted as he simply has a vision) The escort may NOT role-block the same person on consecutive nights.
