It'd be like 15 minutes per offseason depending on how fancy we wanted it, Eggy's announcement threads are more of a burden than generating a schedule. And anybody can generate it, all the simmer has to do is receive the file and click like 3 buttons.

Ah, yeah that would be a dealbreaker. Is that just for sths-generated schedules that are edited or for importing a custom csv as well?

It makes the league more competitive, which drives fun. I'm all for having all the SMJHL teams make the playoffs, since that's where we generally find newer members and you wanna keep those guys engaged as much as possible, but I think competition in the SHL should be welcomed. At least give it a season or two to see how that pans out, and then think about realignment and all that. I'm not opposed to a 4:4 playoff split to start with.

So, it turns out STHS won't let us do 2 conferences of 8 without divisions and keep a 50 game schedule (even though the math works out to an even 50 games, STHS is adding games to the schedule which are played again random teams. . .)

So it'll have to be 4 divisions x 4 teams if we want to keep 50 games.

You can change the minimum games vs own division/conference and minimum games vs other conference if people don't want divisions.

Not sure how big of a deal that is for scheduling in the HO, but nobody has ever talked about it so I doubt people really care that much about that.

What's the deal with increasing the games? It happens irl all the time.
If it's the easy and most efficient solution we should go for it.

Half of the leagues get two extra weeks off and from a user perspective, it's really boring, even in SHL. Maybe the issue here is not the number of teams, but the duration of the playoffs? It's not like STHS output even in form of PBPs is interesting enough to have playoffs last almost two weeks.
How about one-week playoffs?
Monday First Round
Tuesday 2nd Round
Wednesday/Thursday Conference Finals
And you still get 3 day's for SHL/SMJHL Finals PBP's with potential Game 7 on Monday

That's the thing, we did that and STHS added on games that weren't necessary. We did the math to get 50 games out of two 8 team conferences, and STHS said "ok but we're giving you more games than necessary"

2 sims per day are good! problem is mostly the delay of PbPs of the Game 5-7 and also the Cup Finals!

the GMs do know earlier the results and do changes of lines earlier. but then the PbP take too much time and all is be fucked .... season by season! so maybe there a bit harsher boss and it should be good!

then we should look for the time in the finals! 7+ days for the finals is way too much if the rounds before take max 4 days!

What?

You changed the minimum games vs division/conference and it didn't give you an option for 50?

I did it five minutes ago with 16 teams and had no trouble getting to 50 after tweaking the minimum games setting.
