The Montreal Militia have certainly taken a bit of a step back since they last were profiled on the Post-Game Show, while the Raptors have certainly had a difficult time of things, only a couple of games above 500 at this point in the season.First Period:
Montreal once again started off strong in this game, putting a few shots on Yuri Ushakov, but like in the previous game the Militia were unable to convert, leading to Lillie Jacobs coming in on the wing and putting one past Vrana to give the Raptors a 1-0 lead early. 1. Colorado Raptors , Lillie Jacobs 4 (Jean-Pierre Gay 6, Zivan Zidek 16) at 3:56
From that point on for the rest of the period the Raptors took it to Montreal, outshooting them 9-4 in the period and not giving the Militia a chance to really get to their game. Score:
1 0 Shots for: 9 4 Second Period:
The second period began just like the first, with Montreal pressing the attack. This time the Raptors were unable to truly respond for a good portion of the period, relying on their goaltending to keep the lead secure. Thankfully for Colorado Oliver Klosoff took an undisciplined penalty, leading to Jean-Pierre Gay potting his third goal of the season from Zivan Zidek and Parker Smeb, a line that has really started to click as of late. 2. Colorado Raptors , Jean-Pierre Gay 3 (Zivan Zidek 17, Parker Smeb 6) at 8:02 (PP)
Montreal continued to press after this goal, however, outshooting the Raptors in the period but being unable to actually convert on any of their chances, as we have seen from this team already in these big games. Score:
2 0 Shots for: 8 9 Third Period:
The third period was a different story compared to the first two. Montreal had a small sputter of offense to start out, but they were shut down pretty quickly and it was all Colorado the rest of the way. Within a minute the Raptors were able to completely put the last nail in the coffin for Montreal as Eric Vanderberg scored his first goal of the season from Voloshin and Zidek to put the Raptors up 3-0 in the game. 3. Colorado Raptors , Eric Vanderberg 1 (Konstantin Voloshin 4, Zivan Zidek 18) at 0:59 (PP)
After that the Raptors outshot the Militia 16-5 and put a stranglehold on this game, improving their record and getting things back on track. Score:
3 0 Shots for (period): 16 5 Shots for (total): 33 18 Three Stars: 1 - Jean-Pierre Gay (COL) 2 - Yuri Ushakov (COL) 3 - Zivan Zidek (COL) Game Link

Severe lack of offence the downfall of the Militia!
As the game between Montreal and Colorado ends with a 3-0 tally, claiming offense as the major downfall for the Militia seems like a no-brainer, but in this case it really deserves to be highlighted. With a total shot tally of 33-18 you can certainly not blame keeper Petr Vrana for his performance in goal as he still kept a respectable >90% save percentage, but the performance was not matched by the offense. While the 2nd period saw a bit of swing in Montreals favor shots-wise, they still didn't manage to convert, and then followed this up with a measly 5 shot third period going into it 0-2. At the end of the day, one can't help but feel that Vrana certainly was let down by his team in this bout.

Comment 1:
As we wind down to the end of the season the Raptors power play has been awful all year with no signs of improvement. This game however was a rare success for their special teams. Although they were given plenty of power play opportunities they still at least converted on some of them going 2 for 6 for a rate of 33% much better then their usual which is around 6%. Their penalty kill was also solid although not tested much only having to kill off one penalty. As for the Militia they may have thought they could get away with penalties against this Raptors team but today it hurt they badly. Comment 2: Although his team hasn't had the greatest success especially in the later half of the season, Yuri Ushakov of the Raptors has been having a good season compared to the other goalies in the league especially for a rookie. He wasnt tested that much this game as Colorado controlled the play for most of the game, but he was solid when he needed to be stopping all 18 shots for the shutout. With this win he's now 9-8-2 on the season, not the greatest record but not due to Ushakov as he's been solid for most of the season and will need to continue to be if the raptors are to have any hope in the playoffs. Comment 3: Zivian Zidek had a big game and showed up as one of the 3 stars as a result, but as the 3rd star. Although Jean Pierre Gay and Yuri Ushakov both had solid games for the Raptors. Zidek was even better and 1st star worthy. Zidek has been great all season for the struggling raptors and was good again this game assisting on all 3 of the raptors goals for 3 points. He also continued his solid play all season at the dot going 15/25 and keeping the face offs close to make up for the less stellar play at the dot by some of his teammates

Ice Tilted The ice appeared to be quite tilted in this game towards the Raptors. The Raptors completely dominated Montreal in shots 33-18. Vrana played pretty well only allowing 3 goals on 33 shots, good for a .909 save percentage. He gave his team a chance to win, and that's all you can really ask from your goaltender on a nightly basis. It's just unfortunate for Montreal that the goalie on the other end was on fire. Montreal needs to be more disciplined, giving Colorado 6 power plays, compared to only the 1 Montreal had, was a big reason for the shot differential. Comments 2 Colorado's Defence Colorado had an amazing performance from their D tonight. 2 of their 3 goals were scored on the power play by defenders Vanderberg, and JP. It's certainly a major weapon for Colorado, most of their defenders have a big shot from the point, I really don't know how it's possible for their PP to be so bad overall this year, sitting last in the entire league. Not only did the defenders carry offensively, but they also completely shut down Montreal's offence, only allowing 18 shots against. Quite an easy night for Colorado's goalie when the defence plays like that in front of you. Comment 3 Montreal's Offense Shut Down or No-show? Montreal is way too good of a team to only be getting 18 shots with this potent offence. Kvalheim had a good game with 5 shots, but he took 3 different penalties, his discipline has to be better. Like I said in my previous comment, we have to give some credit to the COlorado defenders, they played well, but Montreal has to get more pucks to the net. Colorado only 3 blocked shots this entire game, that's crazy low compared to the 8 Montreal had. I'm sure Montreal will look to just get more pucks to the net in the next game rather than being too fancy, I look forward to see how they bounce back.

Colorado Defence steals the show The Colorado Raptors have had a mediocre season so far, but this showing was difference. Going up against a strong Montreals offence, the were able to limit them to just 18 shots on goal. Whats even more impressive is that in the 3rd period when montreal was pushing the Raptors were able to just hold them to 5 shots in the 3rd period. This stellar defence allowed the raptors to push quick, and they ended the game out shooting the Militia 33-18. Colorado is pleased that this team is starting to gel late into the regular season preparing for the playoffs.

1. Both goaltenders were on point tonight in Montreal, the veteran Petr Vrana making 30 saves out of 33, however his opponent, S46 5th rounder Yuri Ushakov couldn't let him get the win. With his first shutout of the season, Ushakov stopped 18 shots from the Militia players. The Latvian player was important in the win despite the fact that the Montreal players didn't test him very much with barely 5 shots per period except in the second. With a great showing tonight, we hope the young goaltender continues his winning streak, making this evening his third win in a row.
2. The Montreal players need to be more disciplined in the future, as they had six penalties tonight. Fortunately, the Raptors could only score on two occasions, but that didn't matter as the Militia couldn't score on their many chances. They managed to get three slashing penalties as well as two hooking penalties throughout the game and a cross-checking penalty. They need to be more reserved with their sticks usage in the future as to not cause excessive amounts of penalties. It must not have been Andreas Kvalheim's and Oliver Klozoff's night as the ten penalties were distributed between the two players. The PK units cannot always bail them out of bad penalties.

Colorado showing up.
The sinking boulder that is Colorado Raptors, tonight managed to float a little with a win over Montreal, to that you could add that is was a shut out win and Colorado held montreal to only 18 shots on goal. Tonight everything seemed to click for the Raptors, even their league last power play got to work, scoring 2 goals on 6 attempts. Thats a 33% power play, the Raptors have been hovering around 8% so far this season which is fire your gm, coach and all players bad. Maybe this is the turnaround though? Colorado also manage to containing then selves to onyl taken one penalty with they also manged to shut down. Now we can only hope that colorado manages to get a grip on the power play come playoffs otherwise the are due for a first round exit.

Russian discipline
In true Russian spirit, young rookie Oliver Klozoff took two separate penalties in the second period. A hooking penalty at 7:08 in the second sent him to the box, only for Colorado to score on the ensuing power play. Only 14 seconds after the power-play goal, Oliver Klozoff managed to earn himself another penalty, this time for slashing. Thankfully, Montreal was able to kill the second penalty kill off. On the bright side, the kid’s got hustle. The motions could be a bit more careful, but perhaps demonstrative of a lot of heart. Klozoff was a late addition to the federation, but we’ll take a few penalties once in a blue moon if it means having a player on the roster who cares this much about the game. sig credits | | Former affiliates: Петра Волкова || Russian Federation Head || Peak: 2003 TPE | 18 GP | 6 G | 10 A | 16 P | +4 | 4 PPP | 20 PIM | 55 H | 10 GP | 2 G | 4 A | 6 P | +1 | 1 PPP | 0 PIM | 9 H

Comment One:
Montreal Militia fans will be about as happy with this game as they were with their rebrand from Impact to Militia years ago. The Colorado Raptors absolutely dominated this game and ended up winning 3-0. Although the score was a manageable 2-0 going into the third period the Militia players pretty much gave up at that point and the Raptors managed 16 shots on net in the third period alone! It's hard to win games when you don't score but its even harder when you get into penalty trouble which the Militia did when they gave up 6 penalties in this contest. Comment Two: Zivan Zidek has had another absolutely monster of a game for Colorado. Behind the scenes this year Zideks season has been marred by controversy from getting in fights with teammates, his coaches and management but so far this hasn't affected his on ice play at all. Zidek managed to put up a 3 assist game and absolutely carried the Raptors to victory here. He assisted on goals by Jacobs, Gay and Vanderberg in the first, second and third periods, two of which are powerplay goals which the Colorado Raptors have struggled mightly with putting up this season. if the Raptors want to have success in the play-offs they'll have to lean on Zidek heavily. Comment Three: Colorado Raptors fans will be extremely happy with rookie goaltender Yuri Ushakovs performance in this game. Ushakov has had a mighty task this season and has been asked to start for a Raptors team that has scored the third least amount of goals in the entire league as a rookie. Although Ushakov only faced 18 shots this game he was absolutely stellar especially in the second period where the Militia started to make a push and plastered Ushakov with 18 shots. Two specific big saves for Ushakov were in the second period where Eric Vanderberg took a penalty, he stopped point black shots from both Chuck Crutchfield and Willy Mack. "“HA HA! THIS GAME WILL NEVER END! I POSSESS THE SOUL OF EVERY GOALIE ON TEAM B!! CREW 4 LIFE!! SIGN WITH EDMONTON FOR THE CUP!!!” cackled Belial as he placed a Fedora on his head."

The Insignificantly Significant Player Of The Game. A ridiculous Wawazat award .. Awarded to the player with less than 7 minutes of ice time that actually registered something positive. The Fourteenth recipient of this trivial achievement.. Is Montreal Militia Fourth Line Center Ryan Peters Although the research team was unable to locate a candidate meeting the under 7 minute barrier. Peters is a good substitution. Ryan Peters used 9:26 seconds of premium SMJHL ice time to secure this crackerjack prize. He contributed 2 shots and 2 hits on his Colorado opponents and took 6 faceoffs going 1/6 unfortunately. He did finish with an even 0(+/-) which is of minor significance given the 3-0 loss the Militia took in this contest. So congratulations to Ryan Peters for this the fourteenth Insig/Sig award.
