(7870 Words) X2 Media bonus

With the WJC pushing forward into the medal rounds and the round robin completed here is a look at all the British Isles and what they have going for them. Each player on each team will be given a grade for their round robin performance.

Centers will be judged more on Offense and Defense, Wingers more on Offense and Physicality unless in a shut down role, Defenders will be judged more on Defense and Physicality however offense will help, Goalies are judged on their stats and given an overall score.

Disclaimer: I don't mean to make anyone upset this is just some random stuff I made up as I read the results. I will continue with Team Canada later, Be Ready!

British Isles (9-5-4)-22 Pts

This is a team that can and will scare the crap out of you when you face them as they have an extremely talented roster that lead them to nabbing a total of 22 points in the Round Robin rounds of the WJC which was good enough to secure themselves third place among all other teams. In the following segments I will be breaking down each player on the team and giving them a letter grade on their tournament so far.

Centers:

1.       Xena:

Offense

Xena managed to lock down the title as the number one-point getter on the British Isles notching 8 goals and 10 assists in 18 games equivalent to a point per game. Xena was on fire this tournament in the offense department with a great shooting percentage of 14.55 On the powerplay she notched only 0 goals and 4 assists for 4 points while playing 50 penalty minutes, not the greatest but not the worst.

In my honest opinion offense wise this player deserves an A+ grade, being the best point getter on the isles and being a point per game with a great shooting percentage.

Grade: A+

Defense

Each Center is required to play both sides of the ice and here we will see how Xena fared in this stat department. In 18 games Xena had a +/- of 8 which isn’t bad at all although we all know +/- isn’t a complete evaluating stat on her defensive play. It would seem Xena had a lot of trouble in the back end regarding shot blocking with only blocking 4 shots all tournament. What I find hilarious is Xena played great as a PKer for the British Isles and managed to bring her scoring talent there notching a shorthanded goal in 41 PK minutes. Unfortunately, the British Isles didn’t have a good penalty kill this season which will affect the defensive grade given. I will be throwing the face-off stat into the defensive category for this series, and with a measly 44.85% face-off percentage she just couldn’t win hardly any draws that were given to her. Also, I had almost forgot but with 13 penalty minutes, not so bad but not good, it affected her team who already had an abysmal penalty kill.

In my honest opinion defensively, this player deserves a B-, and my reason for this decision is that with the limited stats I have this player was more of an offense first threat and a defense last. The +/- stat of 8 pushes the grade up to a B- from a C+.

Grade: B-

Physicality

Xena was taking names this round robin series getting herself 23 hits while anchoring the first line. Not only that but she had a fight in the round robin getting herself a major penalty. This player is not afraid to throw down the gloves and dish out hits. This physical play put a target on her back and she took 30 hits from other players during the tournament.

In my honest opinion, this player deserves an A+ for physical play.

Grade: A+

Overview

Xena could very well be the best center on the British Isles this WJC, as she ended up 5th among all centers at the tournament in scoring. What this player needs to work on is their defensive game to be a complete player. With that being said the British Isles are lucky to have this deadly weapon on their roster.

Overall Grade: A

2.       Carlo Russo:

Offense

Russo, while playing the exact same amount of time as Xena, managed to rack up 4 goals and 12 assists for a total of 16 points equivalent to a 0.89 ppg. While not bad at all, considering time was split equally between Xena and Russo, Russo is a step behind Xena offensively 5 on 5. Where Russo outshines everyone however is on the powerplay with 2 goals and 4 assists for a total of 6 points in 46 minutes of play. He is a powerplay machine for the British Isles and I would consider giving him more minutes on the powerplay as the 2nd powerplay unit was the most effective on this team. Throwing in Russo’s shooting percentage of 11.76% he is slightly above average but below Xena in this stat.

In my opinion Russo is a small step behind Xena in 5v5 play but a step ahead on the powerplay. Unfortunately, the PP overall wasn’t good for the British Isles falling below league average so the grading I will be giving Russo is an A.

Grade: A

Defense:

While Russo didn’t receive many defensive zone starts and was used mostly as an offensive threat the role of a center is to also be able to play defense. With that being said Russo only managed 3 shot blocks the whole tournament and had a +/- of +4 which is okay since it’s a positive number however he really didn’t get back and get in the way of shots much. Russo was also on the 2nd penalty kill unit which he played 49 minutes worth of penalty killing meaning he was more relied upon for the penalty kill than the first unit. This is important as his face-off % was 48.27% still not amazing but better than Xena, but again the British Isles are behind the league average in penalty kills and I can’t not give the units too much praise. However with his low penalty minute totals, only 5 of which were because of a fight,  the team was only short-handed for 2 minutes because of a penalty which really didn’t hurt the team too much.

With that being said I give Russo a defensive score of a B.

Grade: B

Physicality:

When it comes to overall grade this  section does not matter too much but still carries a little bit of weight behind it. It’s more of a fun stat. Russo threw about 20 hits this round robin and just like Xena dropped the gloves once. He also seems like a player that will respond if he doesn’t like the way something went, and isn’t afraid to get into it with another player. He took 30 hits from opposing teams and what is impressive as he only received 7 penalty minutes 5 of which were because of a fight.

Grade: A+

Overview

It is safe to say that in comparison to Xena Russo is slightly worse offensively however makes up for it defensively and it would seem the British Isles have something good going for them with two number one centers on their team.

Overall Grade: A

3.       Rainbow Dash

Scoring

We move on to the third line center on the British Isles and here we see the center depth scoring drop off quite drastically. In 18 games Dash notched 3 goals and 4 assists for a total of 7 points with an average of 16.21 minutes per game. Even though Dash played on the third line and didn’t have as many minutes played as the first- or second-line player, Dash had problem in the scoring department. Dash had 46 shots, the third most on the team, and sadly only a shot% of 6.52% which was well below average. It would seem Dash was snake-bitten hard this tournament and I know for fact this player just needs some puck luck to get things going in the Medal Rounds. Dash was also a player that was featured on the 2nd powerplay unit, the good unit, however only got 1 assist and 1 goal for a total of 2 points. What bumps the grade up from a C to a C+ is the fact that Dash has 2 game winning goals tied for the most on the team with deadly weapon Xena.

With that being said I know Rainbow Dash is way better than this but for this round robin tournament Dash is receiving a grade of C+ for scoring

Grade: C+

Defense

The third line has an important role to be more of a shutdown line and this stat will matter a bit more in the grading.

Rainbow Dash had a +/- of 1 in the round robin portion of the tournament which is getting borderline close to being not good at all. I would say that this stat here is subpar. Dash also only had 2 shot blocks this whole tournament which shows a little bit of slack in their own zone also racking up 12 penalty minutes tied for 4th on the team which hurts the team a bit because of their lack-luster penalty kill. Speaking of penalty kill Dash played 42 minutes on the penalty kill somehow getting an assist but unfortunately not doing much else. Where Dash really shines and I can see why the coach had this player out on the defense zone starts is the face-off percentage of 56.04% which is easily the best on the team.

With that being said I feel the overall grade on Dash’s defensive play this tournament was worthy for a B-.  There is much to be improved but that face-off stat really saved the day here.

Grade: B-

Physicality

Oh my god Dash is a monster. This third line center left the opposing teams shaking in their skates as no one dared mess with Dash. Only taking 14 hits the whole tournament, rest in peace those poor souls, while dishing out a whopping 36 hits good enough to secure the 3rd highest hitter on the team and 9th highest in the tournament. What a monster, its easy to say without looking at anything else that this grade is an easy A+.

Grade: A+

Overview

Dash has a lot of things to work on however I personally feel a lot of it comes down to bad luck. Expect Rainbow Dash to throw that monkey off their back and start potting goals and apples left and right in the future while dishing out bone crushing hits.

Overall Grade: B-

4.       Yoshimitsu McCloud

Offense

This is a hard one to analyze as McCloud only played about 10.14 minutes a game on average however, I will do my best to give a proper analysis. Yoshimitsu McCloud managed to get himself 1 goal and 2 assists for a total of 3 points in 18 games, which isn’t great but remember he is on the fourth line in a limited defensive role. McCloud was used on the powerplay for a total of 7 minutes which is nothing and had no points in that time. What I find impressive is that McCloud had a shot percentage of 14.29% almost the same as Xena who was playing on the first line. He scored 1 goal with only 7 shots on net for the whole tournament. Get this kid the puck guys! He could easily be a point per game given the opportunity on a higher up line.
I feel McCloud deserves a B total for his offense in a limited role.

Grade: B

Defense

The Fourth line is typically the shut down role and man McCloud left much to be desired. He only managed to block a single shot in all of 18 games that he played in as well as going even in +/- which is okay. In his limited role McCloud only had a face-off percentage of 47.62% which  is not where you want it to be. He barely played on the penalty kill and this stat will be ignored here. One thing I can really praise McCloud for is his ability to stay out of the box only receiving 2 PIM during the whole round robin phase of the tournament.

With that I believe his defensive grade is right around a C.

Grade: C

Physicality

Yoshimitsu McCloud throws hits around from time to time but isn’t really known for his physical play dishing out only 13 hits in 18 games, while being on the receiving end of 19 hits. Middle of the pack on his team for both stats so he is about average when it comes to his physical play.

Grade: B-

Overview

Yoshimitsu McCloud is an extremely gifted offensive first type player and would benefit from seeing more ice-time in a larger role offensively. He needs to work on his defensive game, and face-off performance but other than that he his physically where he needs to be and with that, I will give him a ranking of a C+ for the round robin portion of the tournament.

Overall Grade: C+

Wingers:

1.       Mika Mayfield

Offense

Mayfield found himself on the left side o  Xena and we all know what that means. Mayfield had 8 goals and 9 assists in 18 games for a total of 17 points. Why not also throw in that this player is absolutely clutch as he had a game winning goal as well as a game tying goal to his name. On top of all that Mika Mayfield was shooting at a 17.78% with 45 shots on net! GIVE THIS GUY THE PUCK! He found himself the most played on the powerplay and good riddance he is a beast on the puck and got himself 2 goals and 2 assists for a total of 4 points in 53 minutes on the powerplay. While not really that great he is still up there with the best on his team on the powerplay as the British Isles struggled there.

Grade: A+

Defense

A scoring winger playing defense? You are damn right he did. As a winger he tended to find himself helping out his defenders in the defensive zone as he blocked 5 shots most among all forwards on his team. He only took 2 penalties as well which isn’t too bad at all considering how poor the penalty kill was and take a look at that +/- of +8. He played better than expected for a winger and it reflects in his grade.

Grade: A+

Physicality

This guy is slippery as hell. While playing 17.77 minutes per game on average he only took 9 hits in 18 games. You can’t catch this guy and if you aren’t looking, he is going to deck you into the boards. He sports 12 hits in 18 games.

Grade: A

Overview

As a winger Mika Mayfield is the real deal for the top line, wheeling and dealing for the British Isles. I feel he deserves a grade of an A+ for his stellar play and playing his role to perfection.

Overall Grade: A+

2.       Griffith Cadwalader

Offense

The right winger on the first line, Cadwalader falls a bit behind his line mates in the points department. Sporting 5 goals and 10 assists it is clear Cadwalader has more of a supporting role on this line and has a total of 15 points in 18 games. Cadwalader played about 19.18 minutes per game a whole 2 minutes more on average than Mayfield who is the star winger on this team and as such his total numbers aren’t amazing but are still great.  Shooting percentage wise Cadwalader finds himself above average while converting 5 goals on 39 shots and its safe to say he is more of a playmaker anyways. Moving on to the powerplay here we have again a player who works well on the powerplay with 2 goals and 2 assists tying Mayfield in points in less minutes played. This means that Griffith is better on the powerplay to Mayfields superior 5 on 5 play.

Grade: A

Defense

Being a part of the first line Cadwalader had a +/- of 8, kudos to him for helping that line go positive. Surprisingly again for a winger defense is graded more gently and he had 4 shots blocked!! 1 less than Mayfield but still impressive none the less. He also saw himself out there on the PK for a total of 42 minutes meaning he was relied on by his coach for his defensive play.

I grade wingers easier on their defensive play easier than I do centers. With that being said I give Cadwalader an A+.

Grade: A+

Physicality

Another slippery snake my god. In 18 games he only took 16 hits while dishing out 29. People are scared of this playmaking winger. Do not and I repeat do not mess with Cadwalader, he will crush you and then complete a pass to Mayfield who will make your goalie look like a Kindergartener.

Grade: A+

Overview

What he doesn’t have in his shot, Griffith Cadwalader makes up in his defensive and physical play. With that being said I think he is just as good as Mayfield and I will give him a grade of A+.

Overall Grade: A+

3.       Donnie Dicks

Offense

Not to be mean but I am not too impressed by this second line winger who played a lot more than Mayfield while doing a lot less. Dicks played a total of 18.31 minutes on  average per game and only managed to record 8 goals and 4 assists for a total of 12 points in 18 games. Now goal-scoring wise Dicks is tied for best on the team and has a shot percentage of 17.02% which is excellent. He has been a lethal goal-scorer and that will boost his grade but team wise, he hasn’t really given much support offensively in the assist department, which I hoped I would see more goals given his role. He was 2nd on the team for shots with a total of 47 in the tournament thus far and I personally feel he could have done more with the time given to him. Dicks was also not too impressive on the powerplay only getting one assist in 49 minutes of powerplay time which is upsetting considering his rocket of a shot.

I am confident that Dicks has a lot left to show offensively and we haven’t seen it all yet.

Grade: A-

Defense

Defensively speaking Dicks did way more than was required of him given how he is such a lethal goal-scorer. He got back and saved his team a few potential goals by getting his body in the way and blocking 5 shots tying Mayfield for most shots blocked by a forward. To top it off he had a +/- of +6 in 18 games which I would say is quite alright and Dicks is responsible in his own end. In the penalty department he only received 6 minutes which isn’t too bad and his team went short-handed because of him only 3 times in 18 games. He was tested on the PK but only played 15 minutes max so its hard to comment on how effective he was there.

With that I will be giving Dicks a grade of A+ for his defensive efforts.

Grade: A+

Physicality

Dicks gon give it to ya! Dicks while not only being a defensively responsible sniper he also like to throw the body around. With 28 hit and 22 hits taken he is no stranger to giving you the body. Over a hit per game this man is a beaut.

Grade: A+

Overview

Donnie is a gem that just needs to work out a few kinks and man oh man is he ever deadly. His defensive game is progressing along nicely and The Isles will love having this guy smashing kids left and right with his rocket of a shot.

Overall Grade: A

4.       Jimmy Slothface

Offense

You might think to yourself, Slothface? He must be slow as hell but that is where he gets you. This kid flies and I mean you blink and he is gone. And in that blink he has already made a pass right into the slot and it's all over. With 2 goals and 8 assists for a total of 10 points in 18 games, Jimmy Slothface is doing what he can while playing 16.40 minutes per game on average. He is also snake-bitten my god throwing up 31 shots on net with only 2 goals to call his own for a shooting percentage of 6.45% Wait till he catches his stride, I know he can do it. The assist machine doesn’t stop and it continues on the powerplay with 3 assists total. What did he do bad? Well as a second line winger not a lot on the offense.  I am pleased with him and think he deserves an A. Needs to figure out that scoring slump as he is below the average for shooting percentage.

Grade: A

Defense

What is with the British Isles and these defensively minded wingers? Jimmy has 2 blocked shots total which for a winger he really got himself in the way there. He had a +7 on the second line which is close to what the whole first line had per player. I am pleasantly surprised with his defensive play but what hurts him is the 12 penalty minutes that he received. This team cant PK very well and those penalties hurt the team.

Grade: A-

Physicality

He Isn’t the most physical player as he relies on his speed only throwing 8 hits and receiving 8. Not the strongest player on the ice but he makes up for it with his speed and dodging skills. He can get a little bit angry with his stick sometimes.

Grade: A-

Overview

I think Jimmy is right in line with where he needs to be on this team. A very good 2nd line winger with 1st line potential. What he can do better is just get out of that scoring slump, get into deadlier positions on the ice and reduce the amount of penalties he takes as the PK can’t seem to handle it.

Overall Grade: A-

5.       Nick Brain

Offense

A third-line winger playing on a good British Isles team but what happened to this line? Nick Brain only had 2 goals and 3 assists for a total of 5 points in 18 games albeit with only 11.12 minutes of average play time. His conversion rate was terrible as well only getting 7.41% shot percentage with 2 goals on 27 shots. It seems he is another player who is snake-bitten this tournament. There really isn’t much left to say on his offense performance.

Grade: C+

Defense

A third-line with very little shutdown potential with the defensive play of their players. Brain has done what he could for his line in this category with 4 blocked shots getting in the way of opposing players and doing his best for that good W. He was unfortunately on the ice for more goals against which somewhat reflects the effect he may have had on the game with a +/- of -1. He can be praised for his knack of staying out of the box with only 2 penalty minutes. Brain is quite good defensively and just needs to improve in some areas to really make a massive impact.

Grade: A-

Physicality

Had some hits in the 18 games that he played totaling for 14 hits while only receiving 9. Knows his way into the boards and knows what it takes to get the puck out of board battles. Coaches love this guy and his forecheck ability.

Grade: A

Overview

Brain is having some issues meshing well with this third line, and needs to find that offensive spark we know he has. A few tweaks to his defensive game and you have a really great defensive minded winger on your hands.

Overall Grade: B-

6.       Jordan Joestar

Offense

What happened to Joestar? We all know this kid is really good and we are wondering what the hell happened? Was it line combos? Was he sick? Injured? With only 1 point in 18 games, which was an assist, Joestar has left us all baffled. He really was invisible this whole tournament with only 8 shots on net in 18 games I feel he might have had a concussion. Joestar was seen just skating donuts around the rink.

Grade: F

Defense

Not much to say about Joestar defensively either. He didn’t block any shots, was a -1 when on the ice, actually surprised it wasn’t more considering the non-existent play. With that said he wasn’t terrible defensively but rather didn’t really do anything.

Grade: D-

Physicality

No surprise here, Jordan was non-existent he has 0 hits and was hit 3 times in 18 games when his cruising got in the way of an opposing player and once was with a referee. Can’t really say much more than that.

Grade: F

Overview

I honestly think that wasn’t even Jordan Joestar that we witnessed at this tournament but rather a new technology from EA that had the real Jordan playing be a pro from his couch at home controlling this Cyborg version of himself. Unfortunately, his controller disconnected and couldn’t be bothered to re-connect it. If it were the real Jordan playing, we would all be scared of his play.

Overall Grade: F

7.       Jaguar Johnson

Offense

What a name! Jaguar Johnson sounds like he is going to come in and just ravage your netminder. And honestly if he had more ice time, I feel he would do just that. While only average 9.81 minutes a game, Johnson netted himself 2 goals and 1 assist in 18 games for a total of 3 points.
The reason I am so adamant that Johnson would do better on a higher line is his shot percentage of 12.50%. Given a little more time we would see a lot more points out of this young winger. Did I mention he has a game tying goal on the 4th line?

Grade: B+

Defense

Honestly Johnson is average in this section of the game. With a +/- of 0 and 1 blocked shot with limited ice time you can tell he hustled hard with the time he was given. Was he completely effective? Debatable.  He took 4 penalty minutes which isn’t that bad either so I mean overall, he had a decent showing in his own end.

Grade: C+

Physicality

Yeah, what else do you really expect here.  5 hits delivered, 3 hits taken you can tell Johnson tries to avoid altercations as much as possible and seems more to himself. Nothing wrong with that but you shouldn’t expect him to dive into a scrum by the boards but rather wait for the puck to find his stick.

Grade: C

Overview

Good young player with lots of potential just needs the chance to be allowed to shine. Needs to work on his board play and forecheck.

Overall Grade: B-

8.       Austin Roenick

Offense

Another exciting prospect stuck on the 4th line. Austin went full on 4th line sniper netting 3 goals in 18 games for a total of 3 points while averaging 9.58 minutes per night which fun fact is the least on the team! He has a deadly shot and with 19 shots on net he converts it 15.79% of the time, which is well above average. Just like with Johnson he needs to be moved up the line-up to really shine. The British Isles gave him 3 minutes on the powerplay this tournament and I honestly think they should have given him more. With only 3 minutes, he managed to net himself a goal which is better than most of the team on the powerplay.

This guy is a gem, look out for when he breaks out offensively. The IIHF will weep and Austin Roenick laughs to the bank.

Grade: A+

Defense

Nothing to say here defensively. Austin saw himself block no shots and only got 2 penalty minutes so he didn’t really harm the team negatively. Goal differential wise, goals weren’t really scored while he was on the ice but neither did his line score when he was on, on average.

Grade: C+

Physicality

Little bit more physical than Johnson, Austin isn’t afraid to get into the boards but still seems a bit hesitant. He just needs to shake those jitters and I see a really good forechecker in him as well as a sniper. He is also getting more comfortable with his frame as he threw 10 hits while only receiving 7. Look to him playing with more of an edge in the future.

Grade: C+

Overview

Player with huge potential that has a few things to work out but will be a deadly threat in the future. The British Isles are lucky to have a player like Austin on their roster.

Overall Grade: B

Defensemen:

1.       Dominic Montgomery

Offense

Highest scoring defenceman on the British Isles team, it’s safe to say this guy is deadly from the point. He notched 2 goals and 9 assists for 11 points in 18 games. This is what you want out of a defender offensively with a 12.50% shooting percentage. He was absolute money on the powerplay getting 2 goals and 3 assists for a total of 5 points second most on the team.

Grade: A+

Defense

I am not too sure what happened to Dominic. You could say he is more of an offensive defenceman and it shows. He has a +/- of -3 which is tough for a first pairing defenseman. He did have 19 shots blocked which is really good but not excellent for a defender. He was a staple on a poor British Isles penalty kill and it will reflect on his score as he was on for 46 minutes of the kill. We are left wanting for more in his defensive play.

Grade: B-

Physicality

Oof. Dominic has trouble matching the intensity of other teams’ players. He literally gets bullied around to no end by other forwards only managing 5 hits but taking a bone crushing 27. He really needs to work on his strength in the coming months to help round out his game.

Grade: C-

Overview

While an excellent player, Montgomery needs to sort out his defensive play and get more comfortable playing physically versus other teams. These are all teachable things as he is a talented young guy.

Overall Grade: B

2.       Perry Morgan

Offense

Perry Morgan is not that much of an offensive player. Only recording 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in 18 games. Although he tries to fire shots at the net, he only converts on his chances about 9.52% of the time which is about average while playing 21 minutes a night. Not much to say in the offense department, average as average gets here.

Grade: C+

Defense

Perry my man Why!? Let’s not talk about the -3 +/- I mentioned that in the segment about Dominic and it applies here. Why do you have 22 penalty minutes as a top pairing defenseman. This is just something that is not okay especially when your team has a below league average penalty kill. At least Perry Morgan isn’t afraid to take the body to block shots with 19 shots blocked. I really want to give Morgan a good grade here but that 22 PIM is really hurting his score.

Grade: C

Physicality

No wonder Perry is getting so many penalties. My god this guy is a freight train just running people over left and right. With 38 hits in 18 games Perry both dishes the hits out and takes his fair share with 20 hits against him. You can see Perry eyeing his next victim each and every time he is out on the ice and he is just a scary player to play against. We need a stat that shows how many shots miss the net when Morgan stares down the opposing puck possessor.

Grade: A+

Overview

Morgan needs to sort out his penalty issues while still keeping up his physical play as it is an asset to the British Isles. Offensively he isn’t great but doing what is expected of a defenseman so not much left to fix there.

Overall Grade: B-

3.       Guy Zheng

Offense

A second pairing defensemen seeing about 19 minutes of ice time per night Guy Zheng really impressed. He notched 3 goals and 7 assists for a total of 10 points in 18 games for a defender. Personally, I think he had a good tournament on the 2nd pairing and converted 11.54% of the shots he took. Guy is another player that shines on the powerplay and can be seen as a good puck moving defenseman netting himself 1 goal and 2 assists on the powerplay this tournament.

Grade: A+

Defense

Decent job at blocking shots in front of his own net with 17 shots blocked. I wouldn’t call the shots blocked amazing but it was great and it really did help his team. He also had a +3 so his defensive role was cemented in this game and it shows that he can play both ends of the ice. In the future, I would like to see a little bit more shots blocked but otherwise great job.

Grade: A

Physicality

Guy is not afraid to take the body, and took 15 hits against himself while nailing 19. He tries not to focus too much on taking hits and more on his skill with the puck but when he sees a hit lined up, he takes the bait hook, line, and sinker. Id say overall, he is solid here as well.

Grade: A

Overview

Probably one of the best defenders on the British Isles team this tournament. What a beast, all he has to do to improve is get into those tight spots and block more shooting lanes.

Overall Grade: A

4.       Olin O’Dowd

Offense

What is to be expected of a defender netting himself 2 goals and 5 assists for a total of 7 points. But wait what is that crazy number!? He only took 7 shots! He has a shot percentage of 28.57% my god! Fans watching could be heard chanting SHOOOOOOT OLINNNN SHOOOOOOT. He rarely ever takes a shot and no one even knows why because his shot registers as a 9.5 on the Richter scale. Seriously Olin, make me a happy man and shoot more.

Grade: A-

Defense

Olin shored up nicely on that second paring but was the least likely defender to take a puck. He seems a bit skittish when the puck is shot in his direction only blocking 14 shots total. He needs to get over those nerves a bit and I am confident his defensive play will improve drastically. Rarely takes any penalties either with only 4 total penalty minutes when his shot missed the net and almost killed some fans. Pretty good showing here with a +4 in the tournament.

Yeah you see Olin, I feel like he has some sort of giant inside him. Throwing 18 hits and only receiving 10 he really knows how to take the body and is filled with a lot of strength as seen in his deadly clapper. Do Not And I repeat do not piss this guy off.

Overview

Really good second pairing defenseman and pairs well with Guy Zheng. Really needs to shoot more and lose his fear with the puck.

5.       Jimmy Cahill

Offense

Third pairing defenseman Jimmy Cahill does it again. Man pair this guy with Olin and tell Olin to shoot. This guy is literally the dish master come to clean out your kitchen. With 10 assists for 10 points in 18 games as a third pairing defenseman Cahill is elite. Who needs to score when you have others do it for you? The assist master if you will.

Grade: A+

Defense

So, the third pairing defensively? The best on this team by far surprisingly. Jimmy and Johnny work so well together they honestly sound like cartoon characters. Jimmy is a +13 in the tournament thus far and has blocked a team leading 24 shots my goodness. That is good enough to be tied for 10th in the tournament for shots blocked among all players. The only downside that will diminish his A+ grade is his 22 penalty minutes. They harm the team too hard when one of your best defensive players keeps getting sent to the box.

What the hell British Isles?! What did you feed these guys! Jimmy had a whopping 37 hits and only got hit 17 times. JIMMY SMASH!

Overview

STAY OUT OF THE BOX. Otherwise Jimmy is literally a titan. Be scared. Be very scared.

Overall Grade: A+

6.       Johnny Sins

Offense

Another defender doing exactly what is expected of him. With 2 goals and 5 assists he is comparable to Olin however the difference is his shot isn’t as deadly with only a 15.38% shooting percentage which is still well above average.

Grade: B+

Defense

This guy is the second part of the Jimmy, Johnny duo. Easy to say Johnny took less of the work load shots block wise but made up for it with his knack for getting the puck on his stick and out of the zone. A solid +13 in the tournament he is easily the 2nd best defender on this British Isles team.

Grade: A

Physicality

Johnny tends to let Jimmy do his thing but sometimes joins in getting himself 15 hits and taking 13. Why be physical when Jimmy does it for you. Still can be gritty and get in there when he needs to.

Grade: A

Overview

Solid defender, not much else to say besides just keep doing what you are doing you will see results come your way.

Overall Grade: A

Goalies:

1.       Cedric Robinson

Insight

Here we have the best goalie in the tournament sporting a save percentage of 0.904 and a GAA that is second best in the league at 2.55. Hard to put any negatives on Robinson as he played a complete game this tournament facing 458 shots, the 5th most among goalies, and playing 1037 minutes, 6th most of all goalies, and even recorded a shutout while notching 9 wins for his team. Good Job Cedric! Very damn good job!

Overall Grade: A+

2.       Willis Vincent

Insight

Backup goalie for the British Isles who played two games when Robinson got pulled. He faced 25 shots and allowed 2 goals for a 2.01 GAA and a .920 save percentage. Vincent did his job well and shows great promise.

Overall Grade: A+

You see Jimmy is trying to shoot through the goalies' chests, one of these days it is going to work!

Nice write up!
