The Season 47 Halifax Raiders Draft Class
[Image: Raiders-banner.png]

The Halifax Raiders made a splash in the first round by announcing a last minute trade between the Halifax Raiders and The Kelowna Knights.  The Trade send Halifax's 1st round selection at 4th overall and kelowna's second round pick 20th overall. In exchange the Halifax Raiders received Kelowna's 1st round selection at 9th overall as well as The Lethbridge Lion's second round pick currently owned by Kelowna and a a conditional draft pick as their season 48 third round draft pick which becomes a Season 49 draft pick if season 48 is a reddit draft. This trade signified that either The Halifax Raiders were not 100% sold on the players available at the 4th overall selection or they had their eye on a player a little further into the draft.  Kelowna ended up selecting Piotr Horvat with the 4th Overall Pick.

Right Winger - Atlas Rush - 9th Overall
[Image: Tom-Wilson%E2%80%99s-20-game-suspension-...56x343.jpg]

The Halifax Raider's traded down in the first round to select Atlas Rush at 9th Overall. Atlas Rush is your Prototype Power Forward Who boasts a strong physical core which makes him very difficult to knock off the puck.  Atlas Rush uses his strength and size to his advantage with a strong physical aspect to his game. Other teams always need to be aware of when Atlas Rush is on the ice as a big hit is likely coming their way.

Defense - Jaakko Järvinen - 16th Overall
[Image: seguin-gunnerson.jpg]

With the Lethbridge Lions Pick that the Halifax Raiders Received from the Kelowna Knights the Halifax Raiders Selected Jaakko Järvinen. Jaakko Järvinen is a positionally sound stay at home defensive defenseman. While not the most physical of defenders he makes it difficult for any player to have a dangerous scoring chance as he forces players to put themselves at bad angles if they plan on moving past him.  He will sure be an annoyance for other teams to play against for the next few seasons.

Right Wing - Freddie Sweeney - 24th Overall
[Image: BathersonPOTW2.jpg]

With the 24th Overall selection the Halifax Raiders Selected Right Winger Freddie Sweeney.  Like Rush, Sweeney is a shoot first winger but it is Sweeney's silky smooth skating that catches everyones eye when he has the puck.  Look for Sweeney to dangle his way into the hearts if Raider-Nation.  Seweeny was unfortunately not available for the Prospect Showcase so information is limited as to what his ceiling and floor could be regarding his potential.

Goaltender -Biz Nasty - 28th Overall
[Image: maxresdefault.jpg]

With the 28th Overall Pick the Halifax Raiders Selected Biz Nasty who has been having one hell of a playoff run with the Vipers. Biz Nasty had an above average regular season for the Vipers but really turned in his game in the Play offs.  Having yet to lose in the playoffs taking down the Sting Rays in the first two games the Vipers were ampted to take on their next opponent in the Wranglers.  They did so with force defeating the Wranglers 6-0 with Biz Nasty earning his first playoff shutout.  Hopefully more of the same is to come with the second game in the series.  We will hopefully see Biz Nasty and fellow Raider and Viper Atlas Rush hoisting the cup very soon!

Left Wing - Melty Holyblood - 44th Overall
[Image: 11ducks.1.600.jpg]

With the 44th Overall Pick the Halifax Raiders Select an enforcer to ensure no one touches the star players in the Raiders franchise. This is the second physical player they have drafted this year which will hopefully make it very difficult for opposing teams to play against the Raiders. Watch for Holyblood to be throwing hits and knuckles left right and center.

Well aren't you a shining ray of optimism. With an attitude like that no wonder your team was bottle of the league.
