St. Louis Scarecrows Talk About Their First Round Pick

The St. Louis Scarecrows only had three picks in the draft this season. With limited chances to use the draft to make an impact for the team, the GMs of the Scarecrows had to do their diligence in scouting and make the right choice with their 10th overall pick. They feel they did that and they are happy with who they got at that spot. The Scarecrows picked up Mika Kandinsky, a 6’1” 220lbs two way center.

Here is what GM Nictox had to say about their first round pick, “Kandinsky was everything we were looking for in a player. I scouted him during the tournament while he represented the Vipers. I’ll admit I didn’t watch the entire tournament, but I did get to watch the 3 playoff games where he really shined. I thought for sure Mika would be a top 5 pick considering the lack of center depth in this draft, so when we saw him available at pick 10 it was a no brainer to pick him. I did have a chance to talk to him before the draft where he displayed a mature attitude and showed confidence in his ability. Needlessly to say I was sold right from the beginning. From the short time that he’s been in the locker room Mika has been proving how good of a player he will be. I can see Mika being around for a couple seasons and being a top center for the Crows. I’m excited to see him this season and I predict Mika to be a top rookie for the Crows and in the league.”

The staff of the Crows are feeling really good about their pick and they aren’t the only ones. Defenseman Charlie Serpe had this to say about the rookies coming in, “ I am excited to see how the rookies can come in and play knowing that they have a lot of expectations on them this season.”

Usually teams don’t like to put too high of expectations on their incoming rookie class, but the Scarecrows are repeat champions and they want to win another in a row. They have not been shy about letting their rookies know that they expect them to chip in and be effective in helping the team be competitive. The team feels good about having the new guys step into the lineup right away to have a positive effect on the game. This speaks volumes to the confidence that the team has in their rookies this year. It takes good management to have a consistently strong team in this league. The Scarecrows front office is showing that they are masters at drafting effectively. They were able to get real steals in this draft. Mika Kandinsky was the highest scoring center in the prospect showcase and for him to fall all the way to 10th overall was a blessing for the team. They made no mistake and jumped on the chance to choose him in the first round.
