Goatender Analysis

Mike McKorsy (HAL)
26 saves from 30 shots
Save Percentage   .867
Record 1-2-0

Reports have been coming in that Mckorsy suffered a slight lower body injury in the Raiders first game of the season. He hasn't looked exactly right or 100% in the last two games. We can not confirm nor deny that it is a nagging groin problem but the Raider Nation are hoping that he can get well and not have another outing like this. Neither the organization nor the fans will be happy with a sub .900 save percentage. Of course this game wasn't entirely McKorsy's fault as Halifax gave up a power play goal and had plenty of defensive breakdowns in the neutral zone.

Peter Larson (ANC)
21 saves from 23 shots
Save Percentage   .913
Record 2-0-1

Larson has looked very sharp this season coming out of the gate with winning his first 2 out of 3 games on the season now. The only loss came from a shootout victory to the Knights but even in that game Larson looked very sharp. After watching this game in person and reviewing the goals you can clearly see that both of these goals that Halifax scored were from Larson's team hanging him out to dry. I am not sure that any of the goalies in the league could of stopped these two shots that got by Larson. He was clearly in great position for most of the game and made quite a few saves from his pure athletic ability.

Player of The Game

Without a doubt, the player of the game was Xena! No we are not talking about the Princess Warrior! We are talking about the highly skilled Center for the Armada. This sniper, from the UK, is only 5 foot 5 inches tall and weighs in at 120 pounds. Recruited by King, this lethal threat has found a home in Anchorage and we look forward to seeing more action in the near future from Xena. Scouting is worried about the height and weight factor but in today's nerfed league it isn't unimaginable that a player like this could have a long and lustrous career. In this game alone, Xena had 1 goal, 3 assists for 4 points total. 2 penalty minutes and 7 shots on goal rounded out his evening. Ending the night with a plus minus rating of +4 is very impressive indeed.
