Hot po-take-to:  With The Potato whispering devious strategies into Mattie's ear for the past day, he showed up at the arena looking very disheveled and sleep deprived.  After a rough altercation with Coach @TML99 during warmups Mattie hit the ice with the third pairing on defense.  With the exception of 2 shots on goal, Mattie didn't contribute much to the Scarecrows game in the 1st.   The 2nd period was even worse where Mattie was seen simply circling the Scarecrows goal and mumbling to himself and petting The Potato.   This was very distracting for goalie Markus Tegernako and the Scarecrows fell behind.  The 3rd period was more of the same, during his 2nd shift he was circling the net pretty quickly and Eva Lykke Aparjode was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was clobbered by Mattie Brunton.  Upon transfer, Brunton got up looking much more clear headed and spent the remainder of the period getting his feet back under him.

Hot po-take-to:  Eva was having a good game with 4 shots on goal and 1 assist early in the 3rd, but upon acquiring The Hot Potato her game took a steep decline.   As she had no room to carry The Potato, she laced it into her left skate.  This appears to have messed with her mojo a bit as she began leaning hard to the port side.  Eva got 2 more shifts this game and seemed to really be off her game.  Lets hope she dosn't go the way of Gollum and become too obsessed...

Hot po-take-to:  Some skaters seem to draw energy from The Potato and other's seem to lose energy to it.  With her new friend in tow, Eva came looking much different than Mattie did yesterday.  She seemed energized and ready to play.  In her first 2 shifts she went 1-for-1 on the faceoff and put up 5 shots and 1 goal.   With this head of energy it's looking like the Raiders are going to have a hard time covering this line.   However, after a flurry of Lethbridge shots at the Raiders net it turned into a bit of a scrum in front of the net for the puck.  Eva came in hot and laid into Timmo Kyllonen and passed along The Potato.

Hot po-take-to:  It looks like the Halifax team came prepared for posessing The Potato tonight as each player had a pocket pre-sewn into their sweater.   Here is Timmo's:



It appears as though The Potato force was well captured by the team's preparedness. While Timmo didn't have a great showing, the Raiders laid into the Lions and brought home a well deserved win. There have now been some discussions throughout the SMJHL about whether or not a "Potato Pocket" should be standard for each player. #PotatoPocket is trending on Twitter and it looks like a storm might be brewing. The HO is meeting to discuss the feasibility of this change, but it's said that some staff may have a potato allergy and there are concerns about anaphylaxis. Should the refs now carry epi-pens?
