S35 in SHL Career
#1
(This post was last modified: 08-30-2019, 07:33 PM by luke.)

When you look at S35, you see some amazing names in the smallish class that remains. When you look at the top talent that was available, and I can see atleast 3 people who make the case for HOF when they retire. Lets get into that.

Sorted by Games Played
Mike Izzy (F): 600 - 230 - 293 - 523 - 0.49 - 103 - 714 - 140 - 2356 - 1386 - 2262 - 0.1 - 156 - 13276 - 22.13

So yeah, you see that the players with the most amount of games played, come from a lot of people, and a lot of familiar faces.

So lets get into the more specific details of their career. So lets go with Goals

Louie Garrett(F) - 276
Sophia Bennett(F) - 252
Mike Izzy(F) - 230
Robert Phelps(F) - 218
Angelo Odjick(F) - 213
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 94
Cam Ouellette(F) - 90
Wolf von Hammersmark(F) - 89
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 68
Spitfire(D) - 66

So you can see there is a place where there is a drop off after Odjick. But there is a clear top 5 players in this draft class.

When you look at G/GP you get something like this

Name(P) - G/GP
Louie Garrett(F) - 0.46
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.42
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.38
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.36
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.36
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 0.27
Wolf von Hammersmark(F) - 0.26
Cam Ouellette(F) - 0.18
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 0.12
Spitfire(D) - 0.12

So the only thing that changes is that Kikkoman goes down a spot. But when you look at it, it is crazy that Garret is going .46 Goals/GP. Over the year his average Goals per season is 23 goals per season which is crazy. And then Bennett is pulling 21 goals per season is insane too.

Now for Assists

Name(P) - A
Louie Garrett(F) - 322
Finn Krüger(D) - 321
Sophia Bennett(F) - 302
Mike Izzy(F) - 293
Spitfire(D) - 253
Angelo Odjick(F) - 248
Robert Phelps(F) - 218
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 212
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 200
Jack Hansen(D) - 114

Really only 1 Defenseman gets into the top assists, which is Kruger, which is only 1 assist behind Garrett in assists. Then Bennett is behind in 302 assists, and Mike Izzy in 293. Spitfire is the next defenseman on the list with 253, but after that the other defenseman werent really that good in their playmaking skills.

For Assists/GP it is actually the same with

Name(P) - A/GP
Louie Garrett(F) - 0.54
Finn Krüger(D) - 0.54
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.5
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.49
Spitfire(D) - 0.46
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.41
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 0.39
Jack Hansen(D) - 0.38
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.36
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 0.33

So 3(basically 4) players get at or above 1 assist aver 2 games, which gets to over 25 assists per season. For Garrett, with 23 goals and an average of 27 assists, that goes out to a PPG status, which is insane for getting the amount of Games played over that amount of time.

Now onto points in ones SHL career. It goes like this

Name(P) - P
Louie Garrett(F) - 598
Robert Phelps(F) - 564
Sophia Bennett(F) - 554
Mike Izzy(F) - 523
Angelo Odjick(F) - 461
Finn Krüger(D) - 385
Spitfire(D) - 319
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 280
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 231
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 201

Where Garret is 1 point away from a true PPG status. The people close behind are Phelps and Bennet, 2 elite players respectivly. And then Coems Mike Izzy as one of the best 2 way centers in the league for a very long time. Then below is the obvious 1st pair player in Odjick. The top defenseman in Kruger and Spitfire, and then it trails off.

For PPG you get this

Name(P) - PPG
Louie Garrett(F) - 1
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.94
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.92
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.87
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.77
Finn Krüger(D) - 0.64
Spitfire(D) - 0.58
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 0.57
Wolf von Hammersmark(F) - 0.52
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 0.51

When you look at S36 with Ace being .93 PPG, and then you get to S35 and you have 3 people above .9 PPG, and THEN izzy also has .87 PPG makes it even better. Definitely a top 4 in the draft class, and all 4 are all contenders in a HOF ballet.

now lets look at the +/- for some fun in that

The top +/- are this
Name(P) - +/-
Mike Izzy(F) - 103
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 87
Louie Garrett(F) - 85
Sophia Bennett(F) - 77
Angelo Odjick(F) - 64
Finn Krüger(D) - 64
Robert Phelps(F) - 60
Chuck Goody Jr(F/D?) - 46
Spitfire(D) - 6
Gord McKenzie(F) - -6

and the +/- in reverse is
Name(P) - +/-
Niklaus St. Croix(D?) - -94
Chris Smulander(F) - -70
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - -66
Trucker Grogan(D) - -62
Wolf von Hammersmark(F) - -55
Scotty Steele(F) - -37
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - -36
Jack Hansen(D) - -18
Cam Ouellette(F) - -15
Gord McKenzie(F) - -6

Which shows what good teams the top players were on, with Mike Izzy has been on a great team all of his career and carrying them at his peak and into his prime.

Now onto PIMS

Name(P) - PIM
Mike Izzy(F) - 714
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 632
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 485
Niklaus St. Croix(D?) - 406
Finn Krüger(D) - 387
Trucker Grogan(D) - 339
Robert Phelps(F) - 317
Sophia Bennett(F) - 286
Angelo Odjick(F) - 249
Jack Hansen(D) - 200

So the only top forward that cracks this list is Mike Izzy, who is leading the class in PIMS, with Fedor behind by a bit. Then it drops off to Kikkoman.

Looking at Fighting, there is this
Name(P) - PM5
Mike Izzy(F) - 140
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 130
Trucker Grogan(D) - 65
Robert Phelps(F) - 65
Spitfire(D) - 65
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 35
Louie Garrett(F) - 20
Chris Smulander(F) - 20
Sophia Bennett(F) - 10
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 5

where Mike Izzy is also leading in PIM5, and Fedor closly behind. After that there is a big dropoff to Grogan, Phelps, and Spitfire.

For the amount of hits given, I think you can predict who leads in this

Name(P) - HIT
Mike Izzy(F) - 2356
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 1167
Sophia Bennett(F) - 1099
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 1073
Angelo Odjick(F) - 1073
Robert Phelps(F) - 1032
Niklaus St. Croix(D?) - 898
Finn Krüger(D) - 846
Jack Hansen(D) - 570
Louie Garrett(F) - 532

OF COURSE ITS IZZY. What a great 2-way Center Mike Izzy has been, he is 1k+ hits above anyone else.

For Shots in their career so far it also goes like this
Name(P) - SHT
Louie Garrett(F) - 2542
Sophia Bennett(F) - 2357
Mike Izzy(F) - 2262
Robert Phelps(F) - 2125
Angelo Odjick(F) - 2109
Spitfire(D) - 933
Wolf von Hammersmark(F) - 916
Cam Ouellette(F) - 906
Finn Krüger(D) - 872
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 866

Where Louie Garrett is leading the pack. It makes sense that he also leads in Goals aswell, and it follows along that path of who scored the most goals too.The more Shots you take = more goals in.

Also in terms of SH% you get this
Name(P) - SH%
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 0.12
Chuck Goody Jr(F/D?) - 0.12
Louie Garrett(F) - 0.11
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.11
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.1
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.1
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.1
Wolf von Hammersmark(F) - 0.1
Cam Ouellette(F) - 0.1
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 0.09

Now if you look at Goody and Arrivabene it is because they have taken so many less shots in terms of everyone else. But after that, then it becomes familiar in who gets the most goals as well.

Now onto the Shots blocked to see who is the better defenseman and which forward leads the pack of forwards on that list

Name(P) - SB
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 784
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 743
Finn Krüger(D) - 608
Spitfire(D) - 573
Sophia Bennett(F) - 529
Niklaus St. Croix(D?) - 498
Jack Hansen(D) - 443
Chuck Goody Jr(F/D?) - 412
Trucker Grogan(D) - 205
Louie Garrett(F) - 172

So you can see Kikkoman took a lot of SB throughout of his career, along with Shirobokov. A more offensive defenseman in Kruger also got a good amount of SB as well. Sophia Bennet(switched from Defense to Forward). The first lifelong forward on this list is actually Louie Garret with 172.

For MP you get this from the forwards

Name(P) - MP
Robert Phelps(F) - 13766
Finn Krüger(D) - 13687
Louie Garrett(F) - 13446
Mike Izzy(F) - 13276
Sophia Bennett(F) - 13151
Angelo Odjick(F) - 13037
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 12720
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 11356
Spitfire(D) - 11324
Niklaus St. Croix(D?) - 7435

and for TOI you get this
Name(P) - TOI
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 23.21
Robert Phelps(F) - 22.94
Finn Krüger(D) - 22.81
Louie Garrett(F) - 22.45
Mike Izzy(F) - 22.13
Sophia Bennett(F) - 21.95
Jack Hansen(D) - 21.8
Angelo Odjick(F) - 21.73
Spitfire(D) - 20.59
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 18.99

So you see Kikkoman actually leads the S35 class in TOI with 23 minutes a night. Then Phelps is also a monster time eater. These are really interesting TOI totals and to see where everyone is.

Now I didnt forget about goalies, as here are the 2 stats from this class

Season GP W L OTL MP PIM SO GA SA A
Artom Zhumbayev 399 233 126 40 24155 22 16 1111 12102 17
Jordin FourFour Jr. 346 148 161 33 20500 30 19 1019 10758 14

For W% you get this
Artom Zhumbayev 58%
Jordin FourFour Jr. 43%

For GAA you get this
Artom Zhumbayev 2.78
Jordin FourFour Jr. 2.95

For SV% you get this
Artom Zhumbayev 90.82%
Jordin FourFour Jr. 90.528%

NOW ONTO PLAYOFFS

now i know I forgot about playoff performances the last 2 time(I should put them into the S36 one) but now I actually collected the data from it. I will start with goalies first

Season GP W L OTL MP PIM SO GA SA A
Artom Zhumbayev 92 46 40 6 5622 0 2 288 2955 3
Jordin FourFour Jr. 21 9 11 1 1285 4 0 85 723 1

For the playoffs for W%
Artom Zhumbayev 5%
Jordin FourFour Jr. 42%

For GAA you get this
Artom Zhumbayev 3.13
Jordin FourFour Jr. 4.048

For SV% you get this
Artom Zhumbayev 90.25%
Jordin FourFour Jr. 88.24%

So you can see from this, Artom let in a lot more shots than the regular season, with their SV% is below. What you can see that FourFour is not a playoff performer, or that Buffalo had really bad teams when he was in net for them.

Now for the Skaters, this will get more interesting because some players have played more games in the playoffs

Goals

Name(P) - G
Mike Izzy(F) - 45
Louie Garrett(F) - 39
Sophia Bennett(F) - 39
Angelo Odjick(F) - 26
Robert Phelps(F) - 20
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 19
Spitfire(D) - 11
Cam Ouellette(F) - 9
Finn Krüger(D) - 8
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 3

You Can see that Izy leads the class in Playoff Goals, with Garret and Bennet 6 goals behind him.

For G/GP you see a different story
Name(P) - G/GP
Louie Garrett(F) - 0.41
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.4
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.35
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.34
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.26
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 0.2
Cam Ouellette(F) - 0.13
Spitfire(D) - 0.12
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 0.12
Finn Krüger(D) - 0.1

You can see that Garret has a lot more G/GP than Izzy, as well as Bennett. Still, Izzy has gotten a lot of goals over the long career of playoffs.

For Assists it goes like this
Name(P) - A
Louie Garrett(F) - 58
Sophia Bennett(F) - 50
Mike Izzy(F) - 46
Robert Phelps(F) - 45
Spitfire(D) - 41
Angelo Odjick(F) - 39
Finn Krüger(D) - 39
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 26
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 16
Cam Ouellette(F) - 14

With Louie Garret actually tossing out those apples left and right. Bennet is also up there, and Izzy got 46 assists there. Interesting fact that Izzy has almost got more Goals than Assist in the playoffs.

For A/GP you get this

Name(P) - A/GP
Louie Garrett(F) - 0.6
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.59
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.51
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.51
Finn Krüger(D) - 0.49
Spitfire(D) - 0.44
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.36
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 0.28
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 0.27
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 0.21

Which is basically the same, but Izzy is below a lot of people becaue he played more games. But Garret with .6 A/GP is an insane rate of assists.

For Points it is this

Name(P) - P
Louie Garrett(F) - 97
Mike Izzy(F) - 91
Sophia Bennett(F) - 89
Robert Phelps(F) - 65
Angelo Odjick(F) - 65
Spitfire(D) - 52
Finn Krüger(D) - 47
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 45
Cam Ouellette(F) - 23
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 19

Where Garret has an insane 97 points, with Izzy's 91 points. Then it goes downhill from there. Interestingly enough, Spitfire is the top points for defenseman, with Kruger slightly behind.

For PPG you get this

Name(P) - PPG
Louie Garrett(F) - 1.01
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.91
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.86
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.86
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.72
Finn Krüger(D) - 0.59
Spitfire(D) - 0.55
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 0.47
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 0.4
Cam Ouellette(F) - 0.34

With Louie Garret over a PPG for playoffs is an insane rate. As well as Bennett at a .91 PPG with Phelps and Odjick behind. Mike Izzy with a .72 but with more GP. Fin Kruger has a better PPG than Spitfire interestingly enough..

For PIM you get this

Name(P) - PIM
Mike Izzy(F) - 152
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 112
Finn Krüger(D) - 71
Sophia Bennett(F) - 52
Angelo Odjick(F) - 40
Robert Phelps(F) - 36
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 25
Spitfire(D) - 24
Jack Hansen(D) - 23
Louie Garrett(F) - 19

Which shows that Izzy is again leading the league in PIM. It makes sense when you look at his hits as well

Name(P) - HIT
Mike Izzy(F) - 445
Sophia Bennett(F) - 204
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 178
Angelo Odjick(F) - 152
Finn Krüger(D) - 121
Robert Phelps(F) - 104
Spitfire(D) - 56
Niklaus St. Croix(D?) - 53
Louie Garrett(F) - 51
Jack Hansen(D) - 39

As Izzy has the most hits, that could lead to a lot more PIMS

For shots you ge this
Name(P) - SHT
Mike Izzy(F) - 446
Sophia Bennett(F) - 390
Louie Garrett(F) - 357
Robert Phelps(F) - 278
Angelo Odjick(F) - 252
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 210
Spitfire(D) - 155
Cam Ouellette(F) - 104
Finn Krüger(D) - 101
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 48

and SH% you get this

Name(P) - SH%
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 0.14
Louie Garrett(F) - 0.11
Mike Izzy(F) - 0.1
Sophia Bennett(F) - 0.1
Angelo Odjick(F) - 0.1
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 0.09
Cam Ouellette(F) - 0.09
Finn Krüger(D) - 0.08
Robert Phelps(F) - 0.07
Spitfire(D) - 0.07

Which disregarding Kikko as he only took 22 shots, you see some of the top scoreres on here.

For SB you get this
Name(P) - SB
Finn Krüger(D) - 119
Spitfire(D) - 112
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 92
Chuck Goody Jr(F/D?) - 78
Mike Izzy(F) - 42
Jack Hansen(D) - 36
Sophia Bennett(F) - 32
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 27
Louie Garrett(F) - 25
Robert Phelps(F) - 21

with Kruger and Spitfire up there in SB for playoffs. The first Forward on here is Izzy with 42 SB and then Bennett and Garrett.

For MP you get this
Name(P) - MP
Mike Izzy(F) - 2658
Sophia Bennett(F) - 2186
Louie Garrett(F) - 2102
Spitfire(D) - 2025
Finn Krüger(D) - 1758
Robert Phelps(F) - 1742
Angelo Odjick(F) - 1671
Maurizio Arrivabene(F) - 1559
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 1372
Chuck Goody Jr(F/D?) - 1179

and TOI you ge this
Name(P) - TOI
Robert Phelps(F) - 22.92
Sophia Bennett(F) - 22.31
Angelo Odjick(F) - 21.99
Finn Krüger(D) - 21.98
Louie Garrett(F) - 21.9
Jack Hansen(D) - 21.59
Spitfire(D) - 21.54
Mike Izzy(F) - 20.93
Fedor Shirobokov(D) - 17.82
Shoyu Kikkoman(D) - 17.36

which shows that 1, Izzy has gotten less TOI because he made the playoffs when he was not depended on as much(rookie and not a ton of TPE, etc). You see that Phelps and Bennet were major time crunchers, with Odjick, Garrett and Kruger not far behind.

So yeah, that is the full comprehension of the S35 class. For my TOP 10 Players of this draft i would put it like this

1. Louie Garrett - Easily the best player in the draft in terms of points. A pure offensive machine
2.Sophia Bennett - its a shame that Garrett had to be in this class, as Bennett is a major force. A great goal machine, along with an assist edge. Sophia also can hit too and be eating a lot of time on ice
3. Mike Izzy - Easily the best 2-way forward on the list, even though a lot of PIM, he also leads the class in Hits, takes up a lot of TOI, and is just an amazing player all around
4. Robert Phelps - Its tough to put him below Izzy, but Izzy was a lot better in the Playoffs. But For Phelps, he is the best player for Hamilton for a long time, 2nd most in Points for the regular season, but just a step below Izzy and Bennett IMO.
5. Artom Zhumbayev - A great goalie for Winnipeg who helped him win cups, though not the best goalie in terms of statistics, but still a good goalie in his own right.
6. Jordin FourFour Jr. - The 2nd best goalie IMO, not as great overall statistics compared to Artom, but was nominated for a lot of awards and won a couple of awards as well
7. Finn Krüger - The best offensive defenseman in the class, a ton of Assists, tons of Shots Blocked, a lot of Ice time
8. Angelo Odjick - an elite forward in the league, I would say a step below the super-elite players in the top 4, a great 1st line player who performed both in regular season and in the playoffs.
9. Spitfire - 2nd best defenseman in the draft, a Finn Kruger Lite in that sense, not as many assists, but still an amount of goals as Kruger.
10. Shoyu Kikkoman - A great defensive defenseman, but on a lot of bad teams. I would say a great #3 or #4 defenseman who takes a lot of body shots and hits

So yeah, that is the S35 class, top 10 is IMO, if you would like to put your top 10 in replies, I would love to see your personal ones too.

1st 6 were 1st gens too.... what a great small draft this was and when its all said and done me thinks 'the chosen one' Robby Phelps, Louie Garrett and Sophie Bennett will all end up in the Hall of Fame.  Heart  Exercise

Luke, We need a media section of the HOF for your efforts throughout the seasons  Cheers

I’d put 44 Jr. over Shirobokov in the top 10 but hey I’m biased

edit: ignore the bias, he just flat out deserves to be top 10 based on the elite season(s) he had. His career stats don’t look great but in S42 he won the Honcho, McBride, Khan, and was nominated for the Mexico.

You know what, I totally spaced out on awards, I will go back later today, add awards and update the top 10
