Hey so unfortunately I'm extremely busy with school and will be for a few more weeks so I don't have time for a full write up and to go into more depth like usual but I know it's been highly requested so I'll drop my awards ballot in media again, hopefully next season I'll have more time and could go back to giving you all more in depth write ups for each award and comments, etc.
Ron Mexico Award (League MVP)
1. Johannes Leitner @"AndrewWarren13"
Leitner's performance stood out more than any one else in the league this season, even though his weak end of the season ruined his chance at breaking SHL records, Leitner still performed way better than all other goalies, leading the way in Sv%, GAA and shutouts as well as being 2nd in wins. He also led all goalies in point shares and had a ridiculous 27.86 GSAA. Leitner's performances are a huge part of why the Wolfpack did so well this season and he deserves recognition for this incredible season.
2. Tony Pepperoni @"TommySalami"
Pepperoni had a fantastic season helping to carry the Edmonton Blizzard to the playoffs. His 55 points were good enough for 3rd in league scoring, he was a key part of the Blizzard's season not only at even strength but also on the special teams racking up over 230 special teams minutes. Pepperoni finished 12th in the league with 7.16 total point shares and his impressive 5.73 relCF% was good enough for 11th. Equally impressive were his 72.4% IPP and 52.32% CF%.
3. DeMaricus Smyth @Blastmeaway
Smyth came 4th in league scoring putting up 54 points to go with 134 hits, 208 shots and 15 blocks making him a key all around player for the Specters offense this season. His 7.50 total point shares were 8th in the league and his 53.91% CF% and 78.3% just strengthened his case for mvp even more. What did bring him down a little was his -2.2 RelCF% making it hard for him to break into the top 2 for MVP as his team's CF% was actually higher without him on the ice.
Final Ballot:
1. Johannes Leitner
2. DeMaricus Smyth
3. Mike Izzy
John McBride Award (Best Goaltender)
1. Johannes Leitner @"AndrewWarren13"
An obvious choice here as his performances were good enough not just for best goaltender but for league mvp altogether, Leitner led the league in point shares, Sv%, GAA, shutouts and GSAA while coming 2nd in wins and 3rd in quality starts %. An absolutely incredible season by all means and there's really no case for anybody else here.
2. Kata Vilde @BarnabasCollins
While Vilde's season wasn't quite as good as Leitner's his .916 Sv% was good enough for 2nd and he led the league in wins while posting 3 shutouts and coming 3rd in GAA. The advanced stats also reinforced that case with the 2nd highest point shares, quality starts % and GSAA making Vilde a lock for 2nd amongst the McBride candidates.
3. Cedric Robinson @grok
Robinson may be hard done by 3rd place given his excellent season but it speaks a lot to how good the season of the top 2 candidates are, he was still extremely impressive though with his league leading 70.45% QS% and his 3rd place .915 Sv% while posting 4 shutouts, coming 3rd in GSAA and 4th in point shares.
Final Ballot:
1. Johannes Leitner
2. Kata Vilde
3. Cedric Robinson
Scott Stevens Award (Best Defenceman)
1. Jon Toner @JT3
Toner's season saw him lead defensemen in points with 50 and point shares with 7.45, his 1119 zone entries were 2nd in the league and his 68.5% IPP was also very strong. Toner was a key player on special teams putting up 20 PPP and playing over 130 minutes on the PK. He also had an impressive 81 blocks. What kept Toner from potentially being a league MVP candidate were his rather average CF% and relCF%.
2. God McZehrl @Chris-McZehrl
McZehrl finished 3rd among defensemen with 45 points and he added 111 hits, 69 blocks and over 230 special teams minutes to that. His total point shares were a respectable 6.79 and while his 50.92% CF% was average, he made up for it with a solid 4.36 RelCF% and 1071 zone entries which was good enough for 3rd in the league. He also had a very good 1.139 stl/to ratio.
3. Ludwig Koch Schroder @Rabidsponge21
After a couple down seasons following his S46 Stevens win, LKS was right back at it this season coming 6th in D scoring with 43 points while adding over 240 special teams minutes and 64 blocks. He had a respectable 6.36 total point shares and an amazing 55.68% CF% and 5.76 RelCF%. His 1.072 stl/to ratio and 875 zone entries showed just how important he was to West Kendall's defense this season.
Final Ballot:
1. Jon Toner
2. Chris McZehrl
3. Barrett McCarthy
Ryan Jesster Award (Best Rookie)
1. Harry Carpet @Carpy48
In a class with 3 rookie goalies, Harry Carpet did a good job at standing out. Playing on a terrible North Stars team, Carpet still put up a respectable .904 Sv% with 2 shutout while leading rookie goalies in QS% and point shares. He did all this while facing the heaviest work load in the league indicating that Toronto may have been even worse off without Carpet this season.
2. Olivier Cloutier @Jenny
The rookie scoring leader put up 32 points to go along with a solid 50.83 CF%, 1.25 RelCF% and 2.89 total point shares. Cloutier also had a very good 68.1% IPP while contributing over 200 minutes to Tampa Bay's special teams.
3. Monkey D. Luffy @TnlAstatine
Luffy finished a little further behind the top 2 scoring rookie with 27 points but his underlying numbers were very impressive with his 55.44 CF% and 6.04 RelCF% putting him on par with many seasoned SHL stars, he added 3.45 total point shares to this making his rookie campaign for Buffalo a very impressive one.
Final Ballot:
1. Olivier Cloutier
2. Monkey D. Luffy
3. Harry Carpet
Jeff Dar Award (Best Two-Way Forward)
1. Rafe Ulrich @Raven
Ulrich may not strike people as the obvious candidate having put up less hits and points than some of the other Dar contenders but his underlying numbers make him undoubtedly the best candidate; with 1.96 defensive point shares, 54.51 CF% and 3.02 RelCF%, he's the only candidate with no glaring weakness in his advanced metrics. He topped off his fantastic two way season with 144 penalty kill minutes and 12 blocked shots.
2. Mikhail Lokitonov @ml002
Lokitonov had a monstrous 208 hits while leading the league in hits making him a very difficult choice to disregard, he also had an impressive 6.67 RelCF% and a solid 51.75 CF%. His 83.9% IPP was through the roof and his 113 penalty kill minutes and 12 blocked shots show that he also had some big defensive responsibilities for Toronto this season.
3. Flacko Lagerfield @JSS
Flacko comes in as the third candidate for Dar putting up a very similar season to Lokitonov's with 205 hits and 49 points. He added 13 blocked shots and 101 penalty kill minutes to this. His IPP was also extremely impressive at 83.1% while his CF% of 50.94 and RelCF% of 1.59 were also solid.
Final Ballot:
1. Rafe Ulrich
2. Mikhail Lokitonov
3. Mike Izzy
Bojo Biscuit Award (Best Defensive Defenseman)
1. Tigole Bitties @Ace
Bitties' 3.66 defensive point shares were good enough for 6th in the league. He had an amazing 88 blocked shots along with 102 hits and 130 penalty kill minutes all adding up to an amazing defensive season. His underlying numbers didn't show any weakness either with a 53.28 CF% and 1.025 stl/to ratio.
2. Rex Kirkby @Acsolap
Kirkby came 7th in the league with 3.62 defensive point shares while contributing 139 hits, 63 blocks and 105 penalty kill minutes. His 1.204 stl/to ratio was very impressive and his 51.67 CF% was good enough to not hold him back from consideration.
3. God McZehrl @Chris-McZehrl
McZehrl had 3.44 defensive point shares, good enough for 9th, he added 111 hits, 69 blocks and 91 penalty kill minutes to go along with that. Similarly to Kirkby he had a great stl/to ratio at 1.139 and his 50.92 CF% was still good enough to make the cut.
Final Ballot:
1. Rex Kirkby
2. Perry Morgan
3. Anastasia O'Koivu
Aidan Richan Award (Most Improved Player)
1. Philip Winter @RomanesEuntDomus
Winter had 53 points putting him 7th in the league in scoring and absolutely smashing his career high of 33. This was a true breakout season for Winter who broke out as one of the league's better forwards this season, he played a crucial role on a young Panthers team which included over 260 special team minutes.
2. Barret McCarthy @Inf1d3l
McCarthy had 47 points this season putting him 2nd in defense scoring after he broke his career high of 34 and increased drastically over last season's total of 25. He established himself as one of the league's elite defenders this season blocking 74 shots and contributing over 250 minutes of special teams play.
3. Johannes Leitner @"AndrewWarren13"
Before this season, Leitner had never passed a .912 Sv%, never had more than 1 shutout and had a career high of 23 wins. This season he blew all those numbers away with a .926 Sv%, 31 wins and 6 shutouts, giving him more shutout in 1 season than he had in his entire career combined. Leitner had never been more than an average starter at best but this season was absolutely elite.
Final Ballot:
1. Philip Winter
2. Barrett McCarthy
3. Johannes Leitner
Lance Uppercut Award (Best General Manager)
1. New England Wolfpack @Ace & @hotdog
The Wolfpack bounced back after missing the playoffs last season to have one of the best records in the league this season, that was largely due to last season's star acquisitions finally settling in, their younger players improving and the two deadline moves to acquire Herb Robert and Noah Konn.
2. Calgary Dragons @Steelhead77 & @c00kies
The Dragons finished first in the league this season and while their GMs didn't make any team shaking moves this season, it's no secret that this success has been built by their GMs great drafting and great ability to keep the team's core together. Calgary will be in good shape for a long time thanks to responsible team building over an extended period of time by their GMs.
3. New Orleans Specters @JKortesi81 & @thedangazone
The Specters have hung around the same point range that they have had since coming into the league but what really stood out this season to put their GMs back in the Uppercut conversation was the blockbuster move for Lil Manius, acquiring a superstar forward in his prime for a relatively good price in comparison.
Final Ballot:
1. New England
2. Calgary
3. Manhattan
Joe McKeil Award (Best Coach)
1. Los Angeles Panthers @Wasty & @JT3
The Panthers crawled into a wild card spot with a team that had no business being in the playoffs this season thanks to their great coaching. The expectations were low for the young panthers who don't have a great goalie and have no impact players outside of their small core of Toner, Mauldin and Winter but that didn't stop them from buying into the game plan and making it to the playoffs.
2. Winnipeg Jets @Troy_McClure03 & @FlappyGiraffe
Similarly to the Panthers, the Jets overperformed this season, coming 2nd in their division with a team that is at most wild card level and managing to keep up that pace even after losing superstar forward Lil Manius in a deadline day deal.
3. Calgary Dragons @Steelhead77 & @c00kies
While the Dragons were one of the teams expected to be at the top of the league, it's hard not to give their coaching staff recognition as the team finished with a league leading 71 points putting together a very impressive season by all means.
Final Ballot:
1. Calgary
2. New England
3. Manhattan
Anton Razov Award (Playoff MVP)
1. Teddy Cuddles @"cpetrella"
Cuddles finished one point behind his linemate in playoff scoring but outperformed him in hits, shots and blocks making him a much more crucial player to Edmonton's Cup win all around
2. Brady McIntyre @caltroit_red_flames
McIntyre was a force for Edmonton on the blueline putting up 22 points to go with 38 blocks and over 110 minutes of special teams play making him and important all around player at the back for Edmonton.
3. Hercules Rockefeller @Leafs4ever
The playoff points leader comes in at 3rd in MVP voting proving to be a crucial part of the Cup run for Edmonton, centering their most effective line in the post season and boasting an astounding 56.5% FO% which was undoubtedly a huge reason for his line's dominance.
Final Ballot:
1. Teddy Cuddles
2. Hercules Rockefeller
3. Tommy Tuck
Damian Littleton Award (Most Dedicated Member)
1. @Blastmeaway
A very important behind the scenes member for the league who is the head updater, updates many of the league's tracking spreadsheets and does a lot of the behind the scenes work that keeps the league going but hardly gets any recognition.
2. @artermis
Artmeris' history week has helped contribute to keeping track of the league's history and he started this initiative with his own SHL money.
3. @"luketd"
Luke has always looked for ways to contribute to making the league experience better for all members and he did so this season with his Tableau project, creating awesome visuals to go along with the league's advanced stats.
Final Ballot:
1. Blastmeaway
2. Artermis
3. Luketd
Sorry again that I couldn't go in detail like I always do, I'll hopefully have the time to give awards voting the effort it deserves next season, if not I'll probably step down.

Whatever. Apparently almost matching your regular season stats during 15 playoff matches doesn’t get you a nominee. Did you also noticed he only played 17 minutes per game and most of his points did not came from the PP. Also he was plus 10 (compared to minus 2) and had a crazy shooting percentage. He did have 6 points more than any other NEW player, while he was 10th on that list during regular season. He absolutely killed it.
I did not expect to be nominated at all so this was quite a surprise.

The fact that History Week uses my own money is just a matter of necessity.
I've tried to get funding and donations both go-arounds but no luck thus far.
This season's History Week is starting shortly, so keep an eye out.
