Interesting information on FHM. there are some exciting adds that they have, but my worry after hearing this (outside of not having a box score output text which IMO is a deal breaker, we have to find a way to do that) is being able to integrate this new way of playing the SIM with everything weve done up to this point. If we move to FHM and it ends up feeling like a completley new start up league were gonna lose allot of people. part of SHLs magic is its history.. people love knowing that there players legacy is part of a 50 season long league with stats and accolades that stand the test of time. if it feelas like were 'starting over' we lose that allure and end up being just one of those other leagues...

so we have to find a way to move peoples builds into the next engine and not allow a straight up do over...  Robert Phelps in FHM should have a similar feel as Robert phelps in SHL..  (aside from the new attributes well add and have to make adjustments too)

I also worry about how we transition this many people successfully. we have to work hard in making it feel easy for the end user in the way its easy now.. and there has to be a shit ton of tuorials and shared information along the way.. time for each GM to relearn what works for them in the SIM and for the league to figure out the new gameplay, attributes and update scales... how do we do that in an offseason thats already super busy and super condensed?.. were reallllly going to need real leadership and lots and lots of people involved in picking this league up and moving it.

These are all things we as a league should talk/collaborate on as early as now.

Thanks for this pod Teddy  Cheers

I'm glad you did this. Thank you for your openness

I agree that limiting people's build options in order to keep Simon T would be a horrendous error. While I understand and largely agree with Izzy's comments above, I do think we need to take this opportunity to get this right. That almost certainly means changing sim engines. I wouldn't know FHM if I saw it, but I'm willing to trust in the collective wisdom on that front.

I see your point Mike, but I think it's important to point out that the build diversity in SHL right now with STHS is so limited that any change of engine is going to disrupt that. Mike Izzy is distinctly a sniper forward who hits, but is he like Ovechkin? Or is he more like Stamkos with physicality?

I wanted Brady to be like Dennis Cholowski but now I have a maxed build expect for checking, that's around 75. I think for 80% of people their final builds aren't what they envisioned and this is going to give them a chance really make the player they wanted to.

We're going to lose some people along the way for sure, but FHM has so many real advantages that we're going have much better retention. And regarding the stuff that needs to happen between S51 and S52, we already have a discord of people working almost round the clock on this with some of the most committed members figuring this stuff out.

This is a really exciting step forward that is going to improve the league leaps and bounds in the long run.

It would be difficult to make players similar in fhm to what we are used to because sths really has 3 kinds of skaters, passers, shooters, and hitters. Some people fall a bit in between but for the most part it's really limited on the kinds of players you can make and be successful. The other issue is that sths leans towards offensive forwards being really strong, but fhm requires balance, you need defensive and two way guys. I think if we did move the best way is allowing everyone to use their current tpe and apply it to a build on a new scale to make the player they want. Many people joined this site wanting to be power forwards, grinders, speedy forwards, or back checking forwards, but their players have played more like offensive forwards because it's what works.

All that being said you can adjust the average goals per game and keep at least point records reasonable compared to what we've come to expect.

It would of course be a new era with a move but I think the sths 'fixes' that are being talked about are massive update scale changes, so we will enter a new era either way.

Thanks for the feedback Cheers

@esilverm Idk if you listened to this but I had an idea for the individual games stuff as a band aid until FHM has that export added (if it ever does). We can save the screen shots with a specific name or inside a folder with a specific name corresponding to the game's ID and have the index link to a page that displays games that way. hmu in discord if I explained that poorly

Glitches in every game... here is a recent one in Civ VI.
Someone will figure out an exploit no matter what you do.
The main point of the league was to enjoy the Media Aspect of the Fantasy World... not so much the flaws in the engine that is used.
It is a known fact that 100s of glitches are rampant in Gambling Machines in Casinos but being able to find or exploit them is another issue.
Some have found them and have either made millions or got busted.
