To start with the journey of Xavier Paquette, we need to start before he was even Drafted into the SHL, and a draft time trade, with the trade by WPG and EDM, involving Ace and Nereus.

5/4/18

This trade is usually not common anymore, players getting traded at the draft, but Orlov and Koivu got traded at the draft. What happened to Koivu and Orlov? Koivu was traded 12 days later to Seattle, where Orlov, who was already inactive FGH, was sent to New England a couple seasons later.

Edmonton Drafts Xavier Paquette 12th OA in the S41 draft.

And then sign him

S41: 3 mil
S42: 3 mil
S43: 3 mil

Then on 9/07/18 Paq extends with Edmonton

S44: 3 mil
S45 3 mil

Then 2 months later he gets traded during his 1st season in the SHL

After spending the majority of his first SHL season with Edmonton, he was dealt at the trade deadline, trying to bolster their roster for a playoff push.

After spending the rest of the season with Minnesota and then S45 with Minnesota, getting a career high 25 points, he goes into the offseason as a free agent.

That offseason it just so happens that New Orleans and Chicago are a newly created franchise, and New Orleans is able to sign him for 2 seasons.

13 days after getting traded to Texas, Paq gets traded back to New Orleans for now a 3rd, which is a bargain of what they paid to trade him away.

So this is one of the bigger trades, where NOLA gets a big player in Lil Manius, and Winnipeg gets a decent forward in Paquette, a prospect, and 2 1sts for Manius.

And then 5 days later he gets traded, after a whopping 11 games in Winnipeg

Finally, he spends the last 11 games in San Francisco, collecting 21 points in those 50 games.
And now to his final resting place, where Toronto are in need of some active players, signs Paquette.

To end his eccentric career. A career where he wasnt a franchise player, or an elite one, but one that can be plugged into any team as a good 3rd liner, until he went to Toronto where he became a 1st liner. He might now have had a long career in the SHL (8 seasons), but the story of him will be remembered for one that is his eccentric S49 season. With him being traded 4 times, and included in 2 pretty big trade for franchises, that brought in some top players(Manius and Goku).
