Late into last season @aaronwilson let me know that he was going to step down from the position. IRL stuff with the current pandemic has made him too busy to do the duties of the coaching role that are required. It sucks to see him step down as he has been very successful coach during his time in Hamilton. We made the playoffs every season while he has been the coach and its going to be tough to replace him. He will still have a role within Management as he still brings a different perspective into our discussions that we might not see ourselves and he has been great helping with our scouting spreadsheet and even our PT and TPE tracker bots.
We probably have a lot of guys that could replace Wilson as our coach as we have a lot of people that currently own FHM on the team. I think me and Gabe do it together but honestly the best man for the job has to be @
golden_apricot . He has been involved in our management team for about a season now and he has been great in our discussions on how we should be building our team, drafting, etc. He has a great knowledge of hockey and I feel like that is something that is very important with FHM sim engine. He was vital to the switch to FHM and he also has been vital to our team success. I want to get him more involved in management and I feel like this role would be perfect for him moving forward. I really don't expect us to be worst this season because of this change moving forward and I expect us to still be contenders for challenge cup for the next couple of seasons. He already has told me the plans that he is going implement for our team for our strategy and honestly I am excited to see it in action.
Also I am really happy with our off-season has went, we did what we wanted to do at the draft, which was get more people into the discord that fit into our locker room culture. I feel like we still got a strong future, despite us being ranked 15th or something like in prospect pool ranking. I feel like that ranking ignored our depth when it comes to prospects. Our S53 Draft was amazing and honestly 4/5 of our prospects from that draft have been able to improve upon their TPE ranking compared to their draft position.
