Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden; The players simply refer to him as "Kungen"

Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, the reigning King of Sweden and avid fan of Sweden's national hockey program, held a surprise press conference last night after the Swedish WJC team advanced to the Gold Medal game in a close victory over the US. "I'm very proud of our young men and women that worked so hard to get to this point. I've been to every match in the medal rounds after the IIHF team, which also had a good showing and gives me great hope for the future, was eliminated. These Swedes have my undying love, as do all the children of my great nation, and we are excited to support them in their pursuit of the Gold Medal."

King Carl and his lovely wife, Queen Silvia, cheer on the Swedish WJC Team against the US

"Our WJC team has had a lot of success in the past few seasons, winning Bronze last year and Silver the year before.  While those achievements are nothing to scoff at, we are hungry for Gold.  I promise that if we can prevail in the Gold medal game, I will personally invite every player on the roster to a grand ball celebration with copious amounts of booze, salted fish, meatballs, beautiful Swedish women (and men after a brief pause, Carl gave a very deliberate and noticeable wink), and IKEA coffee tables."

When word of the press conference reached Team Captain Sven Yxskaft, he had this to say, "We love the support of Kungen.  It does add a little bit of pressure knowing how badly he wants us to win, but we also feel empowered by his infinite love and piercing gaze."

Sven Svenson, Alternate Captain of the WJC team, is renown for his borderline disturbing devotion to King Carl.  "I think I peed a little bit when I saw him up in the box during our first game against DACH.  I didn't have my best performance out there that game, the piss in my pants was pretty distracting."  We pressed him to be serious, but he was confused by that comment.  "When the final horn sounded against USA, I definitely peed more than a little when I heard Kungen's orgasmic scream of delight. For the Gold Medal game, I really need to just focus out there and only feel his love during the games.. not get too caught up in it."

Some question the King's motives during this tournament, as he is trying to recover from a strip club scandal and gifting himself a birthday present.  In pressing for a comment on this point, our reporter did not return from the Royal Palace.
