Young center is mad: Michael Fitted Interviewed
#1

The Tampa Bay Barracuda is having a historically bad season, with an atrocious 38 regulation losses in 38 games. But as if that wasn't enough, General Manager MCP was relieved of his functions. A furious Michael Fitted reached out to the media to let his feelings known.

"It sucks, it all just sucks", says the young center. "Tampa has been rough, but it was our rough and we were all in it together."

He continued about how the system needs to be changed so people won't be fired for easily avoidable mistakes anymore: "I'm no tech expert, but - in all honesty - with the recent punishments around the league, things need to be either reformed or automated or something. It's been absurd the amount of punishment that has been handed out lately for small things that could easily be resolved by saying 'Hey, you cant do that'. We should be finding a soultion rather than dropping hammers."

When asked about why he thinks punishments are so severe lately, he replied: "Quarentine really got people acting wild. Like, holy fuck. I'm just saying, my people, calm it down! Maybe have a talk instead of saying: 'What the fuck, fuck you, here's a punishment'."

Fitted then let out a strong frustration noise, before finishing with his advice to the Head Office of the League: "Let's maybe not jump straight to old rules and think of all the new players coming into the league. And maybe - just maybe - not just strike violations and maybe just say: 'Hey, you cant do that; this thing is vetoed' instead".

Speak the truth man, speak it.

While I have little to stand upon, given my recent lack of activity. It does seem like there are far more punishments now, then before. I wonder if this has anything to do with the recent move to FHM, and if we should be showing leniency in this time of having a monumental change to the league. We are talking about a foundational shift in the league, in that we have switched the very basis of how the game is simulated. The changing of STHS to FHM, means a lot of tweaks to everything we do in the league. Yet we stick to the strict punishments of making mistakes, when mistakes are bound to happen in such change. From everything I have seen, these punishments have been for honest mistakes, rather than blatant/flagrant circumvention or deceitful practices of the rules.

I mean he went over the allowed retained contracts, didn't post one of those retained contracts to the public trade, and broke the same lines rule that we all heard about in the playoffs. Mistakes happen but at a certain point you have to question if the rules have been read at all.

The rulebook should be the first thing you read and bookmark as a SHL GM. I reference it constantly when doing basically anything for the site.

I actually get the point, there should be a way to veto moves that would make the roster or anything illegal, and fines for people for attempting them/not paying attention. Letting these moves go through, putting the team in illegality and punishing the GM a lot harder when HO realizes it seems a bit backwards.

But I don't really care about any of this, just wanted to make a point (and a quick buck) by taking Fitted's article and writing it in a way that's actually readable.

And GM's should know the rules so they don't break them. One mistake I can understand, but these were consistent mistakes made in a short period of time. I've gm'd in some capacity for over 10 seasons now and my teams have been punished zero times. It's not difficult to not get in trouble with HO

Fixed to reflect my situation, but agreed.

There's a reason the position is set up with the ability (and encouragement) to hire a Co-GM to help take the pressure off. If you try to iron man GMing on this site, you're gonna have a bad time. Even the best people will have things fall through the cracks without another set of eyes on it.

@JKortesi81 is certifiably insane, and not even he would try to do it all himself--he at least asked TML to do the budget stuff in STL.

I get that, but the punishment should be for trying something illegal that's immediately vetoed and has no impact in the sim, not for doing something illegal over a long period of time that alters the games and thus deserves a harsher punishment.

I don't think any league in the history of sports has a policy of "do whatever you want, but if we realize it's illegal you'll be punished". Every move is approved by the league from the beginning to make sure illegal roster situations never actually occur.
