Canada WJC Roster Provincial Breakdown

This is my first time dipping my toes into the GM waters.  Part of being a GM and running a team is evaluating.  Evaluating talent, locker room chemistry and maybe most importantly evaluating yourself.  If you can’t evaluate yourself fairly well you probably won’t get to keep your gig for long.  So now before the first team I have been a part of putting together has even played.  We’re going to look for any biases or trends in the roster @Rotti and I have put together.

This is a list of the provinces where our players hail from.  From most players to fewest.

Provinces
Ontario - 7
Alberta - 5
Quebec - 4
British Columbia - 2
Saskatchewan - 2
Manitoba - 1
Nova Scotia - 1
New Brunswick - 0
Newfoundland and Labrador - 0
Prince Edward Island - 0

For the sake of avoiding arguments like is Quebec part of eastern Canada or is it a thing all it’s own I’ve broken up where the players are from by Province.  Now the above list only has 22 players and we have 23 on our roster.  One of our goalies Frans Eller is a transfer from Denmark so he doesn’t really factor in for what we’re doing here.

I’ve got maps for you.  Some of the pins double up if players are from the same place

Eastern Canada has a lot of players from the Toronto, Montreal or Ottawa area as you might expect.  And our lonely Nova Scotia boy.

Central Canada is also what’d you’d expect a few players, all very spread out.

Western Canada isn’t super highly concentrated but most major cities are represented here.  One notable player from this region is our Mountain Man.  Who will only say he’s from the Rocky’s.  We have some concerns as being a Junior Tournament we can only release him to a guardian afterward.  Who even signed his waivers?

Overall I think we’ve done a pretty good job making sure most of Canada is reflected in our roster.  Hopefully, we’ll also uphold Canada’s standard of winning and exploiting the youth of hockey players across the nation.
