Player Profile
Name: Chad Danger Age: 18 Position: LW/RW Height: 6'4 Weight: 225lbs Nationality: Bio/Playstyle Chad Danger is a prototypical sniper with one of the best releases in the draft class. Danger is great at leveraging his size to get himself to key areas of the ice where his lethal finishing abilities are best showcased. Despite this, scouts note the young forward could take his game to the next level by playing a more physical game. Danger often hesitates to make a physical play, and seems to not read the defensive game quickly enough to best use his size on the back check. Still, Danger's brilliant offensive IQ, large size and pinpoint snipes make him a dangerous scoring threat. Chad Danger has all the offensive upside in the world, but without filling out the rest of his game it remains to be seen if the winger will ever reach the heights of his potential. Born and raised in south Jersey, Chad comes from a family of farmers. Playing both baseball and hockey competitively growing up, Danger made the decision to commit to ice hockey in his junior year of high school. Danger describes himself as a confident, easygoing guy. Teammates however have previously described him as a loose cannon, and he has developed a local reputation for being hard to coach. These transgressions/reputation problems may have been a contributing factor to Danger's undrafted status. Key Strengths
Reporter: Mr. Danger, how are you feeling ahead of tomorrow's free agency opening? Do you have any regrets about not being drafted? Chad: Yeah well, y'know, nobody making no mistake ever hurt me. I think that a beauty of a team is gonna sign me tomorrow and by mid August we'll be laughing about how wrong every one was. Next question. Reporter: You've been pretty outspoken about your lack of love for the defensive aspects of the game. Recently, after coming under fire, you've announced your intention to work on your defensive game. How has that been going? Chad: Y'know I really think this whole lack of love for defense thing has been overblown. I never said I think defense is evil or anything. I just think it's completely useless and I hate it. But y'know you gotta play defense to win cups, or so I've been told, so I'm learning how to do it and it's actually really easy I don't see what the big deal is. Reporter: You come from a family of farmers, how are your parents feeling seeing you go down the path of professional sports? Chad: My pa was pretty upset when I first told him I didn't wanna inherit the farm, but Christ farming is a heck of a lot of work and the pay doesn't really justify all the manure slinging and back breaking work. When I was old enough and he started to see how good I was getting I think it clicked for him that I could make millions sniping rockets and now he's just happy to see me doing well. Reporter: How does a kid from a farm in rural New Jersey end up as one of the nation's top hockey prospects? Chad: Well y'know when I was 7 my family took a trip up to see some family in Minnesota. My sister did some figure skating lessons while we were there, and I was right pissed that my parents had pretty much left me to rot with my aunt Susan so they enrolled me too. I really liked the skating, it felt like freedom. I was great at going fast, but not so good at stopping, eventually this old guy at the rink saw me crush enough innocent children into the boards and pulled me into the hockey program at the same facility instead. Cried bloody murder to make my parents buy me gear and get me on a team when we got home and never looked back. Reporter: One last question before we wrap, any preferred destinations heading into this season? Chad: My agent told me to say I'd be happy going pretty much anywhere, but to be honest Detroit kinda seems like a s**thole. I'm kinda hoping for one of the expansion teams for a shot at more icetime, but I'll leave this to my agent. Reporter: Thanks for your time Chad and good luck.
