Kelowna Knights Press Release, 7-24-2020.

Right before we are about to start with the S55 season it’s time to announce your captains for the Kelowna Knights. But before we start doing that I would like to say a few words about players that have left our organisation because they have been called up by their respective SHL team to the big league.

Cillian Kavanagh
Where to start. Cillian Kavanagh came into the Knights organisation being the protégé of Luca del Vecchio. After 1 season of doing the required backup starts he found himself player quite a few more games in his 2nd season splitting games with Del Vecchio. In his final 2 seasons he was our undisputed number 1. Being nominated for goalie of the year twice in his final seasons and taking home that award last season. He’s been an amazing goaltender for our organisation and I wish him well in the future in the SHL.

Adam Scianna
Adam Scianna is also called up to the SHL to the Texas Renegades. The Kelowna Knights captain of S53 and S54 is making the step to the big league to start making an impact on a team that was short of the playoffs last season. Adam Scianna has been a true leader for the team and he is leaving some big shoes to fill for our next captain. One thing we will always remember him by is his legendary game with a league high 6 giveaways in a single game. Shame there’s no award for that.

Luckily we have also added new Knights to our lineup during the last Reddit draft. We have managed to strengthen our ranks with some fresh rookies.

Ethan Duncan is in his final and 4th season with the Kelowna Knights. Last season taking the Knights nomination for most underrated player as he’s an amazing player for our team and big leader in the locker room yet often forgotten as he’s not the most productive player on the team. He is one of our top penalty killers and arguably best two-way forward in the league.



Your first alternate captain is…

Jaska Seppala (@Zombiewolf)

Returning as alternate captain for the Kelowna Knights is top goal scorer Jaska Seppala. Taking home the goal scoring leader award last season and being a great leader in our locker room makes him an elite player in this league. He is therefor awarded with being our first alternate captain for the upcoming season. After being disappointed not being an alternate captain last season, this must surely feel good to have the “A” sewn back on his jersey.

The team voted for Teddy Park to be the S55 Kelowna Knights captain! He entered the league last season as a rookie with the 29th overall pick in the draft. Knowing we drafted a young potential super star for this league it’s no surprise he has quickly made his mark in the SMJHL. His activity and leadership was already awarded with a spot in the front office team of the Knights organisation and he was a huge help during the last Reddit draft assisting our co-GM.
