A few days before the start of the season, the Quebec City Citadelles general managers called a full team meeting. The preseason went as good as possible for the young team, but there was still a matter at hand to discuss. It was important for the general managers to hear the voice of their team for the leadership group. The players took a moment to discuss between themselves and made the decision for their inaugural season.

The man who would lead the team on the ice is no stranger to hockey. He grew up in a family that was very familiar with the SMJHL and the SHL, and it was no surprise for them he was drafted so early. He’s making the first step into following the legacy of his mother as a leading presence and a renown defenseman. It’s a pleasure to announce that Jasper Maximov ( @enigmatic ) will be the Captain of the Quebec City Citadelles.

The second in command is also someone who come from a family avid of hockey. Born in Nizhny Novgorod in Russia, he grew up with his brothers and cousins playing hockey as soon as he was able to walk, if not before. His strong defensive play will allow him to keep an eye on everything that’s happening on the ice. It’s an honor to announce Taylora Petrov ( @panda ) as the Alternate Captain of the team.

On the road, it’s a totally different game, with the hostility in the air. The team selected a forward to represent them on the ice. The speedy winger recently had his face splashed in the media as Quebec City Citadelles first ever draft pick and first overall in the recent draft. Zdenko Beranek ( @ztevans ) will assist Maximov and T. Petrov as the second alternate captain on the road.

At home, there’s a lot more noise, a lot more pressure, but so much more rewarding in a victory. To join the leadership group on home ice, the team turned to a defenseman that had experience in a locker room. Despite not playing for them, he spent a few weeks with the Maine Timber and was able to soak the atmosphere of the home games. To finish the leadership group, Max Goodman ( @Smiley ) will be the Alternate Captain on home ice for the Quebec City Citadelles.

The general managers are looking forward to seeing the leadership group in action on the ice this season. Go Cities !
