Joe Kurczewski is a Dragons legend, a former 1st round pick, a Dragons Captain, a League MVP and 3-time cup winner for Calgary. We felt it was only right to bring him back for a day so he can finish his career where it started. We wanted to send him off like he deserves, honoring him as one of the best to ever play the game and one of the best dragons to ever wear the jersey.
Joe K’s impact in Calgary was tremendous, both as a player and in our management group. His desire to win and be the best was infectious and motivated our entire organization during his 12 years with the team. It was a pleasure to play alongside him for many seasons and he carried that same drive and determination to New Orleans where he’s done a great job as player/gm.
He’s had a major impact in the league between multiple organizations and put together a legendary player career winning 5 championships as Joe Kurczewski. He will go down as one of the all-time greats and we’re happy he can officially end his career where it all started, as a Calgary Dragons player. Thanks Joe! <3

Tribute Trade that brought back on of their heroes for a day they held a big celebration for Joe K at The BIG Parm arena in downtown Calgary!
The celebration went late into the night and spilled into the parking lot where one of Joe K's biggest fans decided to honor him in her own special way...
A fitting way for the great Joe Kurczewski to end his long storied career! He will never be forgotten in the league or in Calgary. We appreciate everything he's done and wish him the best in retirement!
