With the S56 draft coming to an end, Robert Feltersnatch finally decided to call us back after a day full of surprises. Late comer to this draft, Robert was picked at #44 by the Colorado Raptors. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

Reporter R: First of all, congratulations on being selected by a franchise as renowned as the Colorado raptors, how does that feel?

Robert: First, thank you for having me, it’s an honour and a great pleasure! To be frank, it feels absolutely great, coming into the draft, I didn’t have any expectations. I was a newcomer and I understood that the general managers didn’t really trust a new guy to make a great immediate impact on a team. It feels good having the organisation and @LordBirdman trust and I will do my best to have the coach’s confidence. By the way, I spoke with an old friend, Vlastislav Malik ( @leafs1997 ) and he says he is sorry and he seems to be having some connection issues.

Reporter R: Huh, yeah… well that’s what we figured out, thanks for clearing that out! So where was I… Oh yes, being a late pick at rank #44 means that there is still some uncertainty around your SMJHL presence. How do you deal with that and what can you do to prove the Colorado organisation that they made the right choice picking you?

Robert: I try not to really think about it really, I came into this draft with no really big expectations and rightfully so. Being born in a Hockey team, I have been taught early that commitment off ice is as important as on Ice, if not more. My dad taught me that if there is a problem, you have to communicate with everybody beforehand to make sure you work your way around it. Communication and professionalism is often the key for success.

Reporter R: Well that is surely true. It is not often that we see wise words from such a young man like yourself. Your dad must be proud! All that aside, let me check my notes really quick. I see here that you have played left defense most of your life but you don’t really fit in the defensive mold that we see today in the modern hockey.

Robert: That’s correct, I was a forward up until peewee and I kept most of my forward habits when I made the switch to defense. That’s actually a funny story, my position switch was due to a lost bet with my friends at the time. My friends bet me that they could outrun me, so we ran and I lost balance, I broke my thumb in the falling.

Reporter R: Well I am all glad you’re okay now, it didn’t seem to have affected your progress so far. Now to another question, what do you want to improve in your game and what do you feel the Raptors want in a guy like you.

Robert: I am really working on my offensive attributes right now. I don’t want to be a liability to my team so I always try to balance things out but I want to be known as a guy that you can trust as a rushing defenseman. I want to work on my offensive read as well as my acceleration to make sure that I can have an instant impact on the play.

Reporter R: Well that’s very nice, you are well known for being a flashy defenseman as well as a great Pp specialist. I have no doubt the Raptors fan will see in you as an immediate help for the team. That said, there is surely some skills you would want to develop more, what would be those skills?
Robert: As I said earlier, I don’t want to be a liability to my team so I need to work on my defensive game and mindset to have a complete game. After all, what would be the point of being on the scoring sheet if I get scored 2 a night? With a great group of coaches, I believe anything is possible to get the best out of every player.

Reporter R: Well, thank you for answering our first questions. Now if you don’t mind, we will ask simpler questions. Are you ready?
Robert: Shoot
Reporter R: What is your favorite NHL team?
Robert: Edmonton Oilers.
Reporter R : Favorite NHL players?
Robert: Connor McDavid and Victor Hedman
Reporter R: I can see some resemblance in your attitude and mindset from both these players.
Favorite meal?
Robert: I can never refuse a great steak or some pasta with a simple tomato sauce.
Reporter R: Spicy or not?
Robert: Ohhhh! Spicy food all the way, I can never get enough heat, it’s great for the metabolism too.
Reporter R: Well I think that’s all. Before leaving you, I wanted to make you say something about an old friend Vlastislav Malik, he told me he has bragging rights on you or something like that. What does that mean?
Robert: Ah! It doesn’t mean much really, he simply got lucky and won a game against me. Nothing important.
Reporter R: He also said something about jinxes, what is that exactly?
Robert: Jinxes are hard to explain, you might want to ask Titan about them.
Reporter R: “Flips notes” I don’t see any Titan in my interview list, I am confused, is he someone I should know?
Robert: Not yet, but he might be a part of the S58 draft, who knows!
Reporter R: Well, thanks again Robert Feltersnatch for your time. Congratulations again for being part of the Raptors and I wish you all the best in your career.

Colorado is glad to have Robert Feltersnatch on the squad and he has our full support! Could this be a budding rivalry between Feltersnatch and Malik?
