As always, the Committee performs a ranked choice voting system. Each player had to receive 35 votes from the committee to be inducted in. This year 7 different players received votes from the committee, but only 3 surpassed that 35 votes mark.

Trevor Wilson – 1 Vote

3rd year on the ballot

An astounding career from Trevor Wilson that spanned 16 years. During that time he racked up 1000 GP, 341 G, 412 A. He won 3 Challenge Cups (S41, 43, and 47) all with the West Kendall Platoon. An illustrious career no doubt. He still a few more years on the ballot to hopefully get into the Hall of Fame. Thank you for your contributions to the SHL Trevor!

Corey Knouse – 3 Votes

4th year on the ballot

A 17 year veteran in the SHL, playing for both Seattle and Edmonton. Corey played in 850 games, scored 278 goals, 385 assists, had 1227 hits. He eventually won the Challenge Cup in Seasons 45 and 49 in Edmonton. He only received 3 votes this year, but may be able to sway the committee in years moving forwards. Congratulations on a great career Corey!

Beajeaux Biscuit – 5 votes

1st year

Beajeaux’s first year on the ballot and received 5 votes. He played in 679 Regular season games, with another 120 in the playoffs. His regular season record was 368-252-56 with 23 Shut Outs and a .906% SV. In the playoffs he had an impressive 70-41-9 record with 11 shut outs. Playing his entire career with the Platoon, he won the Challenge Cup in Seasons 41, 43, and 47. He also notched two Anton Razov Trophies as Playoffs MVP in 43 and 47. He has the 3rd most goalie of all time, 4th all time in games played. In the playoffs he has the 3rd most wins.

He played an amazing career, and the Platoon are better off for having him apart of those deep playoff runs. Being only in his first year, he has plenty of chances to seal his greatness in the Hall of Fame.

Corey Bearss – 30 Votes

5th year on the ballot

Corey Bearss was only 5 votes away from getting inducted this year. He played his entire career in Winnipeg, playing in 900 games, scored 279 goals, 396 assists, and accumulated 1398 hits. He won two Challenge Cups with the Jets in S37 and S44, won the Jeff Dar (best two way player) in Season 41, the S37 Anton Razov Playoffs MVP trophy. He definitely made his case to be immortalized in the Hall of Fame. Will he be able to convince the committee members in the next few years? Jets fans sure hope so.

The first inductee tonight was a major part of the Toronto North Stars, where he played for 11 seasons and while he was never able to win the elusive Challenge Cup, he picked up plenty lot of hardware along the way.

Vanek: Thank you Igor. I’m so proud to be representing Austria and see how the game of hockey has changed in the country since I was a kid. This player represents that shift in hockey culture and made huge impacts while playing here in Toronto, and for kids at home who stayed up to all hours of the night to watch him represent Austria.

This player ranks in this top 100 All Time in Points, Goals, and Assists, and even more importantly was a humble player who wanted to see his team do best. His teammates knew every time he stepped on the ice what they were getting: a hardworking, gritty, and responsible player who would step up to make the hard plays and have their backs. Drafted 6th Overall by the Toronto North Stars in Season 39, he made the jump to the SHL in Season 41 and never looked back. One of his best years was in Season 50 where he won both the Sarmad Khan and Ron Mexico Trophies, named MVP by his peers and by the awards committee. He also won his 2nd straight Sergei Karpotsov Trophy for most points in the league (67 points). He is a member of the exclusive 2K club to boot.
