The case for Beaujeaux Biscuit
#1
(This post was last modified: 09-25-2020, 06:23 PM by .bojo.)

*DISCLAIMER* I'm not saying I should be first ballot HoF. Tuck and Nova were 100% going in before me not even a question. I honestly don't know ML's player, but it's ML so I'm not surprised it was HoF worthy.

Was hoping to present Beaujeaux Biscuit's case for HoF after receiving only 5 points this season. I'm not good at articles, so I'm going to go over my notes and highlight some of the important things that get glossed over. Then at the end there's a cleaner summary.

Season 38 ---- Rookie Season
- 4th Save%
- 6th GA
- No Jesster nom
- lose all rookie team to zhembayev

My rookie season went way better than expected. I only won 19 games, but I was a top goalie that season. Unfortunately for me, Zhumbeyev was also playing his rookie season and won 31 games. He was awarded with the all star selection in the rookie team. I believe he earned it, but I did have less goals against and a better save percentage.

But still, no Jesster nomination hurt, especially since I thought I did so well. One could argue if our offense wasn't dead last maybe I could have won it instead.

Season 39 - the dookie season

My sophemore season was terrible. I was dead last in save percentage, goals against, and wins.

Season 40
- 1st in wins
- me .912 vs top .921
- 5th in GA (who played all 44 games)

My next season though I did a complete 180. I was FIRST in wins, a decent save%, 5th in GA. However, I was not considered for a most improved player nomination at all, nor was I put on an all star team, and much less a mcbride nomination. This is probably the season I felt like i was robbed the most of at least any nominations.

Season 41
- 5th in wins
- 3rd in GA (those who played all 44 games)
- 4th save% (.916-.9107-.9105-.9101) (Aitto was 1st: only played 35 games)
- McBride nomination
- No all star nom (aitto took other spot)
- CHALLENGE CUP

I dipped a bit this season in wins, but still was 5th in wins. This was the season where Aittokeliko only played 35 games, but was putting up strong numbers ending with a .916 save%. Goalies 1-2 were basically set, whereas I ended up with the third mcbride nom and aitto took the 3rd all star team. A debateable moment where it seems odd to win one award but not the other. In theory the three mcbride noms should be the three all star noms, or vice versa.

A couple goals away from the honcho. But I ended the season with a mutha fuggin CHALLENGE CUP baby, yeah.

Season 42
- 2nd save%
- 2nd GA
- 4th in Wins
- lost mcbride to Sarmad Khan winner FourFour
- mcbride nomination
- 2nd team all star

This was a great season for me. I would clearly be the best goalie if fourfour hadn't gone on an absolute tear not only winning mcbride but the khan as well. at least I got the nom and all star spot. Can't buy a break for the honcho.

Season 43
- 5th in GA
- 6th in wins
- 8th save% (me.901 vs top.908) (a high scoring season i guess)
- ANTON RAZOV TROPHY
- CHALLENGE CUP

Dipped back again relatively, with less wins and a lower save percetange where everyone was pretty close to each other.

However, once the playoffs started we not only won the challenge cup for a second time, I won the Razov trophy. Playoff MVP. I feel like it's the most underappreciated award, when it's arguably the most valuable.

Season 44
- 4th in Wins
- 4th in GA
- 2nd in Shutouts

Another season where I'm in elite company, but probably just outside the top 3. So no McBride nom, no Allstar selection, and honcho still so close yet so far away.

McFadden had an amazing season with .931 with the next closest being .917. Ended up with a trip to the finals.

Season 45
- 2nd in Wins
- 6th save% (full season, arguably 7-8th how you look at it)
- Made it to the Finals

Back to (almost) top spot in the wins category. Saves dipped a bit, so I'm not too surprised I wasn't even considered. But despite a "down season" we were able to make it to the cup finals again.

46

Another subpar season for me. But I was only 4 wins away from the guy in first.

Season 47
- 1st in Wins
- 2nd in GA
- 5th in save% (.919-.915-.912-.912-.911)
- 2nd team all star (tuck deserved 1st)
- NO MCBRIDE NOM
- PRESIDENT TROPHY
- ANTON RAZOV TROPHY
- CHALLENGE CUP

OK my goalie woke up after that 2 season break. Top of the leagues in wins, 2nd in Goals Against (for goalies who played over 35 games). 5th in save percentage, but was super close between 3-5.

So I get the 2nd team all star nom. Another stellar season from Tuck at the top spot, and yet another season with the honcho trophy so close yet so far away.

Possibly debatable I'm actually 3rd team, but 2nd makes sense with me trying not to be biased. So... Where did the mcbride nomination go? One group of people think i'm top 2, but another thinks I'm outside of that? Where's the consistency?

Well, my goalie said screw that, and won ANOTHER RAZOV trophy, which I shall remind you is playoff M.V.P. which stands for most valuable player. Oh, and a third challenge cup to boot.

Season 48

- T2nd in wins with Cedric Robinson
- 3rd in GA (players over 35 games)
- 3rd in save% (players over 35 games) (me.913 vs top.919)

Ok, this season is a little more confusing. Cedric Moreau only played 35 games, so if you include his stats he bumps me down in GA and save%.

Looking at the stats, Benjamin Blue takes 1st without too much complaint. Geezus Kryyst probably gets the next spot. He won two less games but did slightly better in saves. Allister Cain even has an ok argument, but my stats are slightly better.

... so naturally they give the third spot to Moreau. Wait, what? He only played 35 games. He was going on a nice run, but he still had 9 games to go. Not trying to bash Moreau, but this is the second time an instance where a hot goalie who didn't play all the games was able to snub a spot away from me. If he finished the season and had better stats, sure I'll take that 4th spot again. But he didn't. If I played 35 games with amazing stats, can I just sit out the rest of the season?

And as for all star? Blue and Kryst go 1-2. And then Cedric... Robinson. Not the Cedric that got the other McBride, the guy I tied in wins with. But he was 8th in save%, and 11th in goals against! What else could I possibly do? And he played 48 games?

Another season with controversial selections. Oh and again so close to honcho again.

Season 49
- 3rd in wins
- 3rd in GA (players over 35 games)
- 4th in save%

No noms or allstars, I was basically unofficially voted as the 4th best goalie. Cedric got the third spots, who played 48 games again. He had lower goals against, but I still had one win on him despite his 4 extra games. Judges decided that was fine. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it, but I'm less upset about this one.

Season 50

- Nothing noteworthy, very average stats. 2nd most shots against though. neat.

Season 51
- 6th in wins
- 6th in save%

My final decent season. I still managed 24 wins, and 4-7 for save% were within .001 of each other. Unfortunately much like last season the team dynamic was starting to change and I was starting to regress.

Season 52 - final season, kinda dookie.

Summary
- Season 38: Conflicted about missing on Jesster. If I had those stats but with more wins I could have possibly won the all rookie spot as well as at least being on the jesster noms.
- Season 40: From last in every stat to first in wins. No noms for Most Improved, McBride, Allstar. At the very least most improved. But save % wasn't that drastically different to push me off the noms.
- Season 41: McBride nom but not allstar. Hm.
- Season 42: Clearly 2nd best goalie. FourFour went balls out also winning the Khan
- Season 43: Decent regular season stats. PLAYOFF MVP.
- Season 44: Just outside top 3. So no McBride or allstar.
- Season 45: Not so good stats, but still 2nd in wins.
- Season 47: Top in wins, 2nd in GA, close battle for 3rd in save%. No noms, no allstar, no honcho.
- Season 48: Top 3 in wins/ga/save%. Lose mcbride nom to Cedric Moreau. Lose allstar spot to Cedric Robinson. Moreau played 35 games, Robinson 48 (with worse stats)
- Season 49: Solid 4th, even if Robinson played 48

Career Notes
- 3rd Overall Wins
- 8th Overall in Save% for goalies over 300 games (via tomen)
- 1st Overall in Playoff Wins (When I retired. Cain recently took over)

- 2x Razovs for Playoff MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. Only goalie to win two
- 2x McBride nominations
- 2x 2nd team all stars.

- 1x President trophy - 2x goalie with most wins
- 3x Challenge Cups, 5x final appearances

- 1x Damien Littleton (Hey, it was included for Bojo Biscuit's HoF thread. Y'all like that bank don't cha?)

* not including two Uppercont noms and my Vidrik Onoprienko award. Plus I really wish the 5x gold medals and various awards were counted.

I just want to point out some situations where I could possibly have more accolades. It's hard for goalies to get individual awards, and unless you basically win the Khan or multiple McBrides everything else gets kinda glossed over. I was close to the honcho award, coming in 2nd twice and 3rd three times. 2-3 possible scenarios where I get a nom or all star spot under different light. Not even getting a most improved nomination despite going from last to first. Rookie goalie accolades that could have easily gone either way. I've had cases where I lost because someone had more wins, but I had better saves, and then the other way around.

A common thing I've heard is that I'm "consistent but not amazing". But if I have such a great career save %, top 3 amount of wins in both regular season and playoffs, and MOST VALUABLE PLAYER twice in the Playoffs (only goalie to do that) both leading to cups, do I need a McBride or Honcho on my resume to push me into the HoF?

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. My intention is not to say voters did anything wrong, but instead just to plead my case about some of the closer details. Love you all

I agree, imo Bojo is a 1st ballot, but probably now the 2nd ballot HOF, would be stupid if you dont get in next season. Long and great career on a great West Kendall team. Stellar playoff performer and elite Regular season goalie. just a really stacked HOF class this season
