The Vancouver Whalers have come up with a great idea for a promo night: the so-called "Play A Whaler" game night. People who would like to participate in the game night enter a sweepstakes on their phone which requires their seat number and name. At the end of the game, three winners are selected, all of whom get to come down to the ice and play any Whaler of their choosing in a game from the following list: chess, Super Smash. Bros Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat, or Rocket League. Whatever game is chosen is, of course, streamed to the jumbotron. Whoever manages to win against the Whaler receives a jersey signed by the player as well as a nice handshake. A few of the guys like to take it easy, but some enjoy giving their opponent a really tough challenge. All in all, the promotion seems to have been a success as the sweepstakes entries are nearly equal to the arena's capacity.

This season, when the Carolina Kraken host the Colorado Raptors. They are doing a joint event for their players whom share the name Panda. There will be 500 Juni Panda bobble heads wearing a panda suit, as well as 1000 Panda Panico bobble heads wearing a panda suit. Both bobble heads will have their respective jerseys on and will be given to each teams fans. They will then also be able to be bought for $20 on the SMJHL shop where all proceeds will go to the "Save the Pandas" foundation.
