Ep 2 : Risers and Fallers
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The season is underway. The second wave of TPE update is now done and the rankings are already painting a different picture ahead of the S57 draft. Some of the biggest risers are explained of course by the SMJHL Personal Coaching they hadn't used yet. As for the biggest fallers, they don't necessarily reflect lost cases, as some players have requested a TPE update just a tad too late of the weekly TPE update threshold. The TPE in this edition are only those who were approved by the updaters in their update threads, and edited properly in the player page. How are prospects evaluated? Thanks to an anonymous tip from a renowned source in the SHL community, here is another update on what to focus to impress SHL GMs, other than acquiring TPE. ENGAGEMENT is the key word to remember. Of course, TPE is a good indicator of someone who is engaged, and it reflects how many tasks, posts a player has committed to, but the user visits, posts on random threads and interactions in the SHL other than working for TPEs is highly regarded among SHL GMs. As mentioned in the last edition, TEMPERAMENT is also an important part of evaluating prospects, how much they might be driving media or if they have a site job also. In the long term, it seems that high-TPE users who aren't engaged site-wide are more likely to burn out, so a low-activity but high-TPE player might seem like more of a risky pick than a player with regular visits with a lower TPE. So for any prospect reading this, don't forget to invest some time in the SHL outside of TPE tasks. That being said, here are the Week 2* SHL Draft Prospects Rankings * Week 2 as in 2nd TPE update since the beginning of the season. Week 2 ranking : 9th - 231 TPE
Impossible not to talk about week 2's biggest risers without mentionning Sean Gatez. The Maine Timber Left Defenseman leapfrogged into the top 10 from his 26th position last week. Gatez has earned 17:50 of ice time across 18 games thanks to his hard work, and it's very possible to think he could end up being a 1st round pick in the S57 draft. Originally a 2nd round pick in the S56 SMJHL draft, Gatez will be one of the top exciting prospects to follow this season.

Week 2 ranking : 28th - 203 TPE
Cian McFelter is one of the most surprising free agents we've seen so far this season in the SMJHL. A late signing after the draft, the Knights Center quickly showed hard work and activity around the league. McFelter has 7 points this season, leading the Knights rookies in points alongside Anna Pontecorvo. Cian McFelter's presence around the SHL and his constant hard work with tasks are shaping him into a prime candidate as a top pick for the upcoming SHL Draft.
![]() ![]() Week 1 ranking : 5th - 230 TPE
Week 2 ranking : 1st - 246 TPE
The 1st pick overall in the last SMJHL draft is back to lead the way in this week's ranking. Arsene Leclerc. The Left Defenseman seemed like a sure thing when the Outlaws picked him, and he is proving it so far this season, putting in the work, activity and even statistics to back any expectations. Leclerc put up 13 points this season, including an impressive 7 goals. Anaheim trust him this season with an average of 21:25 of time on ice, and Leclerc delivers with an outstanding game rating of 63.
CLOSING STATEMENT
Of course, this week showed a lot of players rising, and I put the spotlight on only 3 of them, but I will try to showcase any players unheard of before that shows constant performance in the future, to keep things interesting. Feedback is always appreciated and taking into consideration.
