The Colorado Raptors are not a team which has been lauded for its success this season, exactly. With a record of 8-10-1, they've been below average, often struggling to put up points. But one team that they've had some real success against is the Quebec City Citadelles, themselves a struggling team - despite entering the season with fairly substantial expectations. In two games so far, the Raptors have won 4-2 and, even worse for Quebec, 3-0. As much as it might be satisfying to fans of the Raptors to point to the solid performances of either of their goaltenders, or to the offensive pressure placed on the team by names such as Aumy Jr, Flitter and Mack Daddy, it is instead the unusual incompetency of Quebec City's offense that has really put the nail in their coffin in this match-up.

To date, the Citadelles have only given up 47 goals, a number that puts them among the top half of the league in that metric. But, they've scored a meagre 40 goals to match, leaving them with a rather unfavourable differential. Most of their high-scoring players simply haven't managed to put up points, and oftentimes -- including against Colorado -- they have been either unable to put up many shots to begin with, or else held to poor shots from the outside. When a team struggling like the Raptors posts a decisive shut-out against you, you know something is wrong.

So, credit to the Raptors for their performance. Credit to their defense for isolating Quebec's forwards. Credit, even, to their goaltender who made a fair few saves -- but the Citadelles' greatest opponent has been their own inadequacy.

Today, We will be talking about the Carolina Kraken's good, and bad performances. Carolina, Had a good start to the season and has been performing well ever since. Except there have been some bad games and some really good games. First, We are talking about good games, Recently, Carolina has preformed well against St. Louis, The reason for that is that STL Is just not doing that great this year, they have had some good years and performances, but they are currently a rebuilding team. We have also done well against Detroit for some seasons, A few reasons why we beat Detroit is, that they have just been very very very unlucky in general, But Vitek Vitecek has had some good games.
Mainly the reason is that we have always had amazing offense, instead of amazing defense.

Now, We will talk about our loses, Team Anchorage has slapped us twice this season. The main reason for that is because we were on short rest and their defense is one of the best in the league.

So far the season has not been kind to the Falcons. After 20 played games there's only 6 points made. It's difficult to say but the Falcons are sadly struggling against every team this season. This does not mean that every player has been bad though. Granström has had some good games and some better games and seems to thrive when facing Maine Timber. two of the three goals he has done so far is from games against Maine. There's also a total amount of 8 blocked shots over these two games, showing incredible sacrifice for his team. Granström has so far won 8 of 12 faceoffs as well. One of most likely reasons Granström plays well against the leaders in the east is probably just because they are the leaders. Underdog games are where he thrives best. As for why the Falcons are struggling, it is most likely because of the young roster. There is a lot of potential and Granström has sure showed that he is consistent in playing well but had a slump against the reigning champions. Which is understandable, you cannot always have a good game.

There doesn't seem to be any one team that the Nevada Battle Born have an issue with or have dominance over. While the Battle Born are having an exceptional season, Most of their games are ending in one goal leads. While this is true, one mild stand out is Detroit. Detroit has lost twice to Nevada at a 3 goal deficit and while two games is hardly a pattern, it's safe to say that Detroit has their work cut out for them the next time these two teams meet. The reason I think for this is Detroit's complete lack of talent. They sport a terrible -49 goal differential good for worst in the league and that probably won't be changing anytime soon this season. I don't expect Nevada is always a lock against this team, that's how teams lose, but it shouldn't be a grueling victory every time they meet.

The Kelowna Knights have might be having a rough season, but as the rookies develop and chemistry settles in within the team, we are starting to see some interesting feats. For instance, Kelowna has performed well offensively against the Scarecrows, winning 6-1 against them in their sole matchup when not at home. At home, Kelowna also was able to win against the top team in the East, the Berserkers. They also defeated the Armada in their first matchup, which will be interesting to follow for their upcoming matchups, as Kelowna faces Anchorage 4 times this season. It is interesting to see how the Knights get better against every team as the season advances. Their young roster are working hard to get better fast, and although this might not be a record breaking year, anything is possible seeing as there is still more than half of the games to play yet.

Hockey is a team sport, except for last Thursday night when the Nevada Battleborn went skate-to-skate with the Anaheim Outlaws in the Nevada Arena. These teams have been in an ongoing one-upsmanship battle since the season started and there was a heat in the arena that you could taste on your tongue - a decision would be made on who the top team in the Conference was.

*static as the radio tunes to the hockey game, where an announcer is calling the action*

"I don't know how to say this, but Rob Wright has tied the skates together of each of the, uh, Anaheim Outlaw players. This is gonna be more than 2 minutes, right?"

"Yeah, no kidding, Bob. I've never seen such. Well. TomFOOLery on the ice before. I'm thinking that Wright might get a suspension for that dastardly move."

"If not that, then perhaps the death penalty."

Anaheim won the game 6-2 thanks to many powerplay opportunities.

*minutes later, Rob Wright interviewed outside the locker room*

"Yeah, I have no excuse for my behaviour tonight. Let me just say, for all the kids watching, and just in general good life advice - do NOT do peyote. I thought I was killing snakes!"

Not only have the Anchorage Armada had success in two out of their three Simulation Major Junior Hockey League games against the Carolina Kraken so far, Pablo Salvatici has also stepped his game up while playing down south. Sporting a win in two out of their three match-ups against the Kraken, the Armada handily dealt with them on route to a 7-1 victory during their 20th game of the season. Before this game the Armada had gone 1-1 against them, and Pablo Salvatici picked up an assist during these games. In the 7-1 rout Pablo ended up opening the scoring for the game, potting his 5th goal of the season. Salvatici has managed to make an impact on the scoresheet despite his limited icetime, blocking 9 shots and throwing 10 hits even though he is a smaller player. As we look towards the end of this season we can expect both the Armada and Salvatici to pick up steam and start to get red hot at just the right time.

Well, where do I begin?

The Colorado Raptors had a quick start, but since the hot start, it's been a rough road. Been having to claw our way through games just to get a good chance for good result or fall short. Even some games where we do outplay our opponent, we somehow find a way to lose.

One team though that has somewhat shared our struggle is the Quebec CItadelles. They're currently having a rough go as well, and facing us hasn't been pleasant for them. We have their number, even when they manage to outperform us. For some weird reason, when they play us, it's like we're playing against ourselves really. As hard as we may play and fall short in the wins department, the Citadelles have our misfortunes when they play us. We feel their pain, and we use it to our advantage, for now.

This may not be the case in future matches, there's no need for complacency when it comes to this rivalry

Great job guys we've been kicking Detroit and Quebecs ass come on buds get to our level. Still pissed about the games against the Kelowna Knights though like wtf how are we loosing to these fucktards like come on. 14 losses and 7 wins and they have got 2 of thoughs dam wins from us like come one crows what are they that good looking in thoughs knee highs that you guys are getting hot on the ice or something. come on they cant be that good their knees what are they dulling your skates boys get your dam cups in a row ignore their hot half naked puck bunnies in the stands that continue to plaster their tits on the glass as a distraction and ignore their old scary legend of the man with the large wet physt. Though i've been enjoying all the time on the ice and busting some nuts scoring goals and helping the team not to keen for the poor guys in the laundry department with all these sweaty jocks though.

Kaapo Kampainen's SMJHL career is just beginning, in fact, he has only played in two games for the Anaheim Outlaws and he logged a insufficient amount of ice time to really make his mark, being on the ice for 6 minutes and 25 seconds in his first ever SMJHL match against the St. Louis Scarecrows and logging 5 minutes and 46 seconds of ice time against the Vancouver Whalers. Kampainen, despite his best efforts, failed to get on the scoresheet and it's fair to say that he has failed to meet the expectations that comes with the lucrative contract the Californian organization offered him. His best game, as of now, came against the St. Louis Scarecrows, where he was able to register his first ever SMJHL hit and faceoff win. Known first and foremost as a two-way forward, Kampainen was used on the penalty kill, a situation in which he played 2 minutes and 10 seconds in his debut, helping his team to kill all penalties in the match. Kampainen came out the gates with a strong performance despite his limited ice-time. His worst game so far came against the Vancouver Whalers. He was probably intimidated while facing the league-leading Whalers and he failed to do anything significant and finished the game with a faceoff loss and a giveaway. He was motivated in his first game against the Scarecrow, which may explain his good performance and Vancouver was simply the better team and they managed to contain him while he was on the ice. Better days are ahead for the Finn, that's for sure!

The Carolina Krakens squared off against the Colorado Raptors to great success this season. The Krakens emerged victorious, winning 6-3. In the game, there were 5 unique goal scorers and 9 different players credited with an assist. The team really came together to destroy their dyno-branded friends. While the Kraken have performed well all season, currently sporting a 14-9 record, leveraging an exceptional bunch of young players. The Raptors sit at 11-13. While there may be elements in terms of talent disparity that could be addressed, the ultimate underlying factor in this matchup is the fact that these teams are complementary colors. In matters of complementary colors, there's always one color that pops just a bit more given the circumstances. In the world of hockey, where there are so many blue teams to wade through, those orange teams are always going to have the edge. Simply put, the power of aesthetics was on the side of the Carolina Kraken this time around.

This season the Newfoundland Berserkers have performed especially well against the St. Louis Scarecrows. In two games Newfoundland has beaten them twice and outscored them 14-4. Whenever these two teams meet it seems as if the Berserkers aren't satisfied unless it is a blood bath. St. Louis has managed to average two goals for over the two games. While on the low side it isn't unacceptable in that sample size. The problem is that they are conceding an average of seven goals against. This is atrocious and represents Newfoundland's ability to exploit this team. I think that what gives Newfoundland this advantage is that St. Louis' Blue Line is not getting it done and when a team with depth like the Berserkers plays them this kind of a result occurs. Six times this season St. Louis has conceded at least six goals which is absolutely unacceptable if you are trying to win a Four Star Cup. This means that in 24% of Scarecrows games they are giving up at least six goals against. Anytime this team takes the ice there is nearly a quarter chance they will be viciously blown out. Only a handful of teams however really have the depth to take advantage however. What gives Newfoundland the ability to exploit this blue line is that Newfoundland has three lines with elite level SMJHL Playmaking Centers, and all three of these lines have at least one significant power forward. This allows Newfoundland to create the space necessary to score a great amount of goals while being physical enough to contest the offense of St. Louis.

My player Victor Fedorov has excelled in performance against the Detroit Falcons. Detroit has a very weak center group and Fedorov has been able to have his way in the faceoff circle; this allowing for his team to keep most of the puck possession in the offensive zone. More offensive zone time will always equal more opportunities for goals to be scored and less chances for goals to be scored against the Scarecrows. I think that in general Fedorov's team the scarecrows are a much better team on paper and this allows for them to have more confidence and play a bit more risky on the ice to try and create extra chances that they might not have done if they were playing against a better caliber team. A team that Fedorov and the Scarecrows have struggled against is the Carolina Kraken... they are a very dominate team with a lot of send down players and the experience is just too much at times for Federov and his fellow rookies on the Scarecrows.

As a new player to the SMJHL, Bigga Foryu doesn't have much history with the teams, but is looking to build a reputation of being a human wall. He's played in a few games so far, relieving his role model Leo Bloomfield when needed. One game that has stood out for Foryu was his 3rd appearance in goal against the Kelowna Knights. It's important to mention that Foryu's previous appearances in pre-season did not play out well, often letting in more than 3 goals with sub 85% shot stopping. But on that night in Portland, he finally found his groove. He posted an impressive .974 save percentage, with 37 saves overall en route to a 2-1 win with a shootout stop to seal it. This was enough to earn him the 3 star for the match too! No one is sure what got into him that night, but some people are saying he was so infuriated with how bad the Portland sushi was, he channeled his wrath into his shot stopping. He hopes to build a reputation of being especially good against Kelowna in the future en route to potentially starting in a few seasons.
