S56 SMJHL PT #6 - Next Season
#1

Now I know we're in the midst of the playoffs now and that's exciting, but well-managed teams always have the long term to consider too. Whether you're rebuilding or a team looking to take it all, what is the outlook looking like for the team next season? Are there lots of call-ups and aging outs on the horizon, or is the squad going to remain relatively intact? Will a lot of new rookies come into the team?

Written option: Talk about how your squad projects to look next season. You could talk about players who will be called up next season and what impact their call ups will have, players who will be of key importance to the team, where you expect the team to be able to finish in their division, etc. (150+ words)

Graphic option: Make a graphic that shows how the team lineup will look next season. Must include players who will age out/be called up, and the expected TPE levels of the players by the start of next season.

Reward
4 TPE for doing the thing. (Just one of the options, not both.)

Only S56 SMJHL Rookies (S57 SHL Draftees) are eligible for this PT.

Do NOT claim TPE for this task until a post has been made in the claim thread.

Link PBE or NSFL submissions here to get credit for Welfare claims.

For Newfoundland, the future is bright. Next season, expect the recent success to continue. They are a young team with a lot of talent. Along with their seasoned veterans, expect their S56 & S57 players to make big strides next season. Defenseman Jonas Kahnwald is staring the making and has 27 points this season. He plays solid defense while exhibiting a tremendous flair for offense. He is an unbelievable +27 for the season, which leads the Berserkers. Left Winger Vaseline Podcalzone is another up and coming star with offensive talent and a player that like punishing opponents. His 109 hits are second on the team. In addition, Newfoundland has one of the best S57 draft classes in the league, led by Bas O'Bigbers. As youngsters like Sandeen, Gretzky, Alfa, and goalie Gronroos continue to grow, the Berserkers are in great shape for many seasons to come. Expect them to be a fixture in the playoffs for the foreseeable future. It should be fun to watch these players grow.

The Kelowna knights had a very rough year to say the least. Finishing last in their division with a 7-29-4 record. But the future doesn't look so obscure as they picked many players in their last draft and traded for yet another youngter in Feltersnatch. Having such a young growing core will surely make the players elevate their game for the S57.

Along with the Quadruplets, pontecorvo, grãbeklis, Nosreh, Hunna-Pussent and Hamilton will have their icetime increased a little bit(TPE from 190 to 260). Many players like Vertigo, Pearce, Money, Wong, Petrov, Hagan and Koa who range from 300 to 410 TPE will step up to fill the open roles of veterans.
In the nets, we will have the solid presence of the veteran Peter Ramsay and Damien Vertigo who will push for more games next season.

I have yet to figure what amont of TPE is needed to be called up in the SHL but my guess would be that Park and Goodname might see some playtime in the big league.

The Maine Timber have a hard pill to swallow in the next few seasons. When playoffs finish up in the next few weeks we ill be losing 4 players from the S54 Draft Class. Defenseman Elwulf Jericson, Forwards Patrick Shepherd, and Kyle Sutton, and Goalie Leo Bloomfield. As if our holes in Defense weren't already there, losing our seasoned goalie is going to be difficult. These are also just the guaranteed call ups. We do not know at this time if we will be losing any of our S55 Class players. Gatez will need to step up his production and defense for the Jericson loss, and potential Bjerg loss if he decides to enter the SHL this off season.

We also traded away a 2nd round draft pick for Elwulf Jericson with hopes to fill a hole in the defense for a deep run into the playoffs. If this trade doesn't pan out, it will all be for naught.

We definitely need to draft well and find very active players, as after this season, we will be practically in a rebuilding phase.

The Detroit Falcons have recently seen a big turnaround for their success. The last few games, the rookies have really shown themselves capable, and brought our team up to victory. A few wins in the past few games has really brought our team a lot of hope that we're on the right track despite our struggles. Jimmy has not been playing too well, this he will see to in better training and gaining better skills. Skills that his father failed to teach him as a child after he left to go get milk and smokes and came back with cream and sharpies. Then he wrote a note in sharpie saying he has to leave again and since then he never returned. He also took the cream with him. Bastard. Detroit Falcons haven't had their prime moment either against Anchorage with most of their points being lower scores than the enemy, but Detroit Falcons never back down and never give in. We will continue working hard and cheering on our fellow teammates, even if the glory is not ours.

Let's be realistic and honest. This season was hard and rough to Detroit Falcons. As I said many times, we have very young core to development every updates.

I have to confess that I'm not so sure how call ups works etc, but I think that losing our one solid GK Thor Odinson will hurt a lot. Also Zakkira Diporov and Sammy Blaze could be those who leave Falcons at next season. Every of those names are very important to our team and replacing them will be almost impossible. Have to remember that Granström and Mihailov grows fast and are more ready to make points at next season.

I think that Detroit Falcons will fight about points every evening to next season and put more challenge to any team in SMJHL. I hope that we can make better journey than our this season was, more successful moments and more points to the team!

The short term future looks bright in Anaheim, with only two players set to leave the team next season, both defensemen, James LeBlond and Chet Hillier. Although LeBlond's offensive output will be missed, the Outlaws' core remains young and competitive, as seen with the season the team just had, exceeding expectations. The team was on pace to win the division, but that was until SMJHL's scoring leader and core Outlaws member James Boxman II retired. It obviously left a gigantic offensive hole on the roster, but the Outlaws have more than one rookies ready to step up and improve next season. SMJHL veterans like Asclepius Perseus Flitterwind, Joorgustraad DuBolk, Ryu Jones and Hubert Andrews will do their best to help the team in their last years and with fresh faces like Long John Dunair leading the league in scoring, things look bright for the Outlaws future if the young players can contribute on a nightly basis. Things look bright for the Outlaws who could very well end up on top of the division if everything goes according to plan.

Carolina Kraken finish off their regular season with 31-17-2 scoreline in 50 games. Their success lies beneath their 2 lines of veteran presence in forwards and defenders. After this season is over, merely speculations can be made about players who seem to be called up to the majors next season

From the S54 class, Kraken players like their first line defender Adam Friedland, first line winger Vitek Vitecek, their first line center Linus Grimstad and Panda Panico are under major rumous about their destination next season. Vitecek recorded 41 points in 50 games with 0.82ppg and his linemate Linus Grimstad recorded 0.84ppg average with his 14 goals and 28 assists. Adam Friedland did show expectations correct this season with his insane blueline presense, banking 15 goals and 12 assists for a 27 point total in his 50 regular season games with Carolina Kraken. Panda Panico improved his goalscoring this season, banking himself 22 goals in 50 games this season compared to his last season’s 13 goals.

From the S55 class, Friedland’s pair in defense Axel Foley could be called up this season. He showed immense progress this season with the Kraken and especially with his linemate Adam Friedland. Foley recorded himself 9 goals and 33 assists for a total of 42 points in 50 games, averaging 0.84ppg – the same as Grimstad. Foley is a reliable defender who’s decision making in the offensive zone is high-end, while being a nightmare for his opponents in his own defensive zone. Vincent Wolfe had a massive breakout season. He scored 21 goals and 35 points in his 50 games this season, compared to his last season in which he had 9 goals and 16 points. His focus was clearly on his offensive game this season, therefore scouts have been comparing him to a young Alexander Mogilniy. If any of these players get called up, its time for Kraken’s S56 class to shine. Players like Aleksander Kozlov and Grape Fruit may have themselves a massive chance to show what theyre capable of to their respectable SHL teams.

Now, lets talk about Carolina Kraken’s rookie class of S57. Currently 6 rookies in their roster, 3 defenders in Unger Oda, Kai Ichinose and Ashy Larry and 3 forwards with high-end prospect Freyja Hellström, late round draftee Kyle Murray and DFA Luukas Lilja. Every single one of those rookies have shown massive improvements in their play this season. Freyja Hellström won the rookie rocket trophy with 13 goals in his first season with the Kraken, Murray didnt come far away from her with 9 goals, and Luukas Lilja came up strong with 17 assists this season, most of which were scored by these 2 rookie forwards who happen to be his linemates in action. Kraken havent had this much rookies on their roster in a long time, especially when all of these rookies are insanely promising and probably every single one of them are going to get drafted in first three rounds in the upcoming SHL draft.

The QCC's roster will look similar to this seasons. Losing only one player in Emilia Bergman to aging out, the QCC might look to fill the slot in RD's with them gone. However they're currently rocking three so there is a possibility that they just take the loss on the chin and move on. QCC's biggest focus for the offseason, besides the playoffs, will be to come out stronger next season. Starting with a 5 game losing streak isn't something any team wants to do. And while a lot of the games were close QCC is going to want to come out stronger with the offensive attack.

Emilia Bergman will be missed. Mostly by the Goalies as they blocked 104 shots. High enough to be tied for third in the league. They lead the team with blocked shots with only Kev coming in second with 77. It's clear that Emilia has no problem throwing their body in front of the puck and it's a very much appreciated by the DROG goalie paring. Not only was Bergman willing to block shots, but they're third on the team for hits. Laying out a solid 110.

Currently the only player that is believed might be called up is Rieley. Leading the team in goals with 20. Losing Rieley would be pretty bad for the QCC attack. Specially with them wanting to get off to a better start next season. Rieley is a major player in that factor. It's gonna be a wait and see for QCC for a bit to see if they're gonna need to prepare for Rieley's departure.

The Nevada Battleborn are in an alright situation. Right now we have only four players from Season 55, only one of which is confirmed to be leaving next season. Even if all four were to move on to the next league, we still have a plethora of strong players that are one hundred percent capable of stepping up into the holes left behind by the former Goats. Chad Danger, Raivo Helminen, and Grandmaster Funk are three of such players. These three are members of the Season 56 draft class and make up three of the top four scorers on the Nevada Battleborn. That is a top centerman, a top winger, and a number one defenseman.

Beyond these three players paving the way for our immediate success, we have a strong class of rookies just from this season's draft in Rude Sniff, Rob Wright, and Noah Johns III. These three do very much the same as the previous group of three players. They are a group of a future top center, a future top winger, and a future number one defenseman.

Vancouver is going to look very different next season. While S56 is still ongoing and none of us are exactly sure how it will end, we can at least say that the Whalers had a very successful regular season. However, for Vancouver, the S57 team may look every different from the S56 iteration. The expectation is that the Whalers will lose:

Silmey Snail, LD - 17 Points
Simon Takshak, LW - 22 Points
Ryosuke Sato, RD - 24 Points
Luffy Richard, LW - 28 Points
Bryce McMahon, RW - 33 Points
Devin Basher, RW - 36 Points
Rotticus Scott, LW - 39 Points
Daniil Nikiforov, C - 54 Points
Name Redacted, G - 20-7-0 in net

So, out of a combined 502 points scored by the Whalers, 253 of those points will be leaving the team as they are called up to their SHL teams. Still, there is some cause for optimism as players like Jason Desrouleux, Valtterri Kauppinen, Rikki Petrov, and Johnny Shuffleboard remain with the team. And while the loss of veteran goalie Named Redacted certainly hurts, they do seem to have a capable netminder in Jon St. Ark to take over for him. While the expectation is that Vancouver won't be able to repeat the best season in their history, they will by no means be a pushover for the other squads in the league.

Next season looks like it could be a good one for Anaheim. They have had an overachieving season this time around already, and are only looking like they will lose James LeBlond and Chet Hillier this offseason to the SHL. The two players leaving are both solid blueliners in the top 4, but with a few rookies already making their way into the league successfully on the back end, the Outlaws should not miss them too much provided they can find a couple plugs to fill the holes left deep after everything settles out. Ultimately, Anaheim will be the beneficiary of having some core pieces improve in their deep SMJHL seasons, as well as some graduating from their rookie season. The parts that are making the Outlaws successful this season, like Long John Donair's breakout year for example, will be coming back, or replaced by strong up-and-comers. It is too soon to tell where the Outlaws will be next year, but it is certain that they will improve from their poor form at the end of the season, as well as find some improved goaltending as their starter Vincent Mietitore matures and hopefully makes up for any defensive depth lost to call ups as the team finds their new normal in their own zone.

If we don't look at the standings, Kelowna's young core did debut pretty damn good, and in upcoming second season we will see an improvment for sure. Knights head office this season did a smart turn of trading away guys which is going to be called up, because we are at the bottom of standings anyway. In same tims a lot of job will be on shoulders for experienced SMJHL players as Park, Money, Wong, and there is a hope young players could add enough to create a cup contending team. The scenario won't be possible without 2 very strong goal keepers, Ramsey and Vertigo, they did an excellent job digging those points for team this season, and hopefully their duo will work as good as it can be. I trust coaches they will do their best to keep everyone in shape and will make the best of shuffling lines to get most effective lines.

Colorado Raptors are on the up and up to say the least.  With only a handful of season 54 and  53 players destined to move on to SHL life or just plain old retirement, the teams future looks bright.  Sad to see fellow teammates and savy veterans go but this team is in good management hands and they are thriving.  On our roster the chemistry will only grow stronger, at the moment we have seven s55 players, three s56, and a whopping seven s57 prospects who are all upgrading and collecting that hard earned TPE every week.  Sophomores like, Sonata Diamante, Bobby Motz, Yanno Rosejac, Jarmo Kekäläinen, Ren-Ekelemchi Shimizu-Okoli, Wally Herman and Ruggs McOoooh are going into their 2nd SMJHL season next year and will be the core of this teams foreseeable future.  Together they have amassed a total of 1617 TPE for an average of 231 each.  Next season, say maybe less than half way through the season we should all be at the capped 350 tpe.  Next season the Raptors project to be top Dinos in the Western Conference, you heard it here first.  We are placing our pieces this year for an even better season next year.  That said, the Raptors have not had their last growl yet in these SMJHL playoffs.
