Registered EBEBEB, Monke and the Almighty Cod Hello everyone and welcome to Week two of the SMJJL S58 Central Draft Rankings! There have been some changes this week. To those who saw their potential fall, please don’t feel discouraged, it is extremely difficult to get an A- or higher if you aren’t a recreate or you don’t have a strong bank account, this does not mean you won’t be an amazing player. Love you guys.
Disclaimer: The potential listed has nothing to do with the TPE or if a player was updated, so of course some players have gained potential, some have fallen off and I will be representing that below. Week 1 : https://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=111334 Welcome to Week 2 of the SMJHL Central Scout Rankings!! Getting into the thick of it now!! _____________________________________________________________________________ G - Kit Kirkstone @Grapehead Potential: A+ Strengths: Reflexes, Mental Toughness, Glove Weaknesses: Passing, Aggression, Skating Scouting Notes: We are still calling this draft he Kirkstone draft as Kit continues to hold onto his number one spot in this years draft. I have a feeling Kirkstone may read my scouting reports as this past week he corrected one of his weaknesses. Kirkstone spent his time with his goalie coach this past week working hard on his rebounding skill. Kirkstone has been hitting the ice and gym frequently and the way things are looking will still hold onto his first overall spot at the end of week 3. RD – Gregory Goode @Keenan Offense: C- Defense: C- Physical: D+ Potential: A+ Strengths: Passing, Defensive Read, Positioning Weaknesses: Speed, Balance, Strength Scouting Notes: This past week Gregory Goode has impressed me. He was very humble by my ranking last week, placing him at fourth overall and it would seem that gave him the motivation he needed to work on his physicals. Gregory hit the ice many times this past week, except for one day to rest, and improved his speed, and acceleration as well as some of his defensive attributes. Gregory boosts himself to second overall this week which is a warranted jump. Although he has worked hard on his physicals it still is a weakness in his game, and it will be important to see him improving these areas of his game. RD – Luc Blouin @DrunkenTeddy Offense: D+ Defense: C Physical: C+ Potential: A+ Strengths: Stamina, Stickchecking, Defensive Read Weaknesses: Getting Open, Shot Blocking, Bravery Scouting Notes: Luc Blouin finds himself sliding down to third overall, but just barely. This isn’t to say that Luc is a worse player than Gregory Goode, just that Gregory has improved more than Luc in this past week. Luc saw some minor improvements to his acceleration this past week however he has not addressed his areas of weakness, mostly on the offense and slightly defensively as his physicals are his best area thus far. Luc a majority of the time can be seem on the ice and working out rarely missing an opportunity to practice his craft. Will be interesting to see if he can reclaim is previous ranking in the upcoming week. RD - #A-Rye Izzy @Mike Izzy Offense: C Defense: C- Physical: C+ Potential: A+ Strengths: Passing , Positioning , Defensive Read Weaknesses: Hitting, Checking, Shot Blocking Scouting Notes: The teenage prodigy #A-Rye Izzy has seen himself drop down now to the fourth overall spot, and this isn’t a knock on him. Izzy has been improving himself both defensively and offensively so I can reasonably expect him to fight his way back to the top three. Izzy is an interesting case as he tends to disguise himself when he comes to the gym staying, “hidden”, and the only way I really know he is working on his game each day is if he “posts” to social media. Overall, I can see him reclaiming his spot easily and if not he definitely is a Top 5 pick in this draft. LD - Bjørn Jakobsen @siddhus Offense: C- Defense: D+ Physical: C- Potential: B+ Strengths: Shot Blocking, Defensive Read, Stamina Weaknesses: Stickchecking, Checking, Balance Scouting Notes: This past week Bjorn has been working hard at the gym, and on the ice leading him to jump into the top five of this draft! The question is will he be able to hold onto this position? Bjorn while attending the gym, and working on his game for a majority of this past week has not really seen any change in his overall game, however I know we will see the results soon. As such, I feel that his potential has increased and he really is looking to be a force going into the draft. I really do wonder if he can somehow displace someone in the top four, although that is looking like a lock right now. LW – Danny C @DannyC Offense: C Defense: C Physical: C+ Potential: A- Strengths: Speed, Agility, Acceleration Weaknesses: Getting Open, Checking, Balance Scouting Notes:Danny C moves his way up from last weeks rankings where he ended 8th overall, and finds himself in the 6th overall spot this week. Danny has not worked on his noted weakness this past week however found himself working hard on his defensive positioning and passing game which still has an impact on his overall game. Danny did drop in potential and that is partially related to not always being on the ice, or at the gym but this does not mean Danny will not be a great player. I still advocate that any team would be lucky to have this LW in the ranks. Additionally currently he is the highest ranked forward in the draft, and will be on a lot of teams draft list. RD – Naofumi Iwatani @GlimsTC Offense: D Defense: C Physical: C Potential: B+ Strengths: Stamina, Defensive Read, Puckhandling Weaknesses:Getting Open, Offensive Read, Positioning. Scouting Notes: Naofumi is a player that really interests me and seems to be working hard at improving his overall game. Last week we saw him ranked as the very last pick in the first round however much to my surprise Naofumi rocketed his way from 12th overall up to 7th overall. Naofumi worked hard on his weaknesses this past weak and I do hope I see him improve his defensive positioning as well. Naofumi is making waves this draft, and could push his way further up the ranking in coming weeks. Naofumi’s physical rankings rise from a C to a C+ after the training he has undertaken, however we do see a drop in potential from an A- to a B+. This solely has to do with the fact that I have not seen him on the ice every day, I have no life. RD – Basil Sivart @Sivart Offense: D+ Defense: C+ Physical: C- Potential: A- Strengths: Defensive Read, Positioning, Stickchecking. Weaknesses: Acceleration, Checking, Getting Open. Scouting Notes: Another impressive story this week is the case of Basil Sivart. Basil was ranked at 14th overall in last weeks ratings and has managed to climb his way up to 8th overall this week. This past week Basil really showed some hardcore motivation and hit the gym to work on his agility which I did mention was a weakness in his game last week. I am happy to see improvement in Basil’s game and am curious to see if this upwards trend will continue. As he has been working extra hard at the gym and on the ice, his potential has increased from a B+ to an A- for this week. LD – Luke Sparks @Noble Offense: C- Defense: C - Physical: C- Potential: B- Strengths: Passing, Defensive Read, Stamina Weaknesses: Stick checking, Shot Blocking, Balance Scouting Notes: Luke Sparks sees himself drop from 4th overall last week down to 9th in this weeks rankings. My main concerns I voiced last week still echo into this week and as time goes on it is looking like this may continue. Luke has yet to his the gym to work on his overall game yet tends to frequent the ice to play games of pick up. So far I have not seen the motivation from Luke to develop into a top player however his raw skills still see him within the top 10, however he could quickly drop if the trend continues. Vice versa if he begins his training he will more than likely shoot up in the standings. RW – Greg Davies @bjkman Offense:D+ Defense: D+ Physical: C- Potential: B+ Strengths: Strength, Balance, Stamina Weaknesses: Positioning, Checking , Offensive Read Scouting Notes: Greg Davies had a slightly rougher week this week than last week. Davies did undertake training to improve his game however we have yet to see the results. Additionally, Davies hasn’t been seen at the gym or on the ice very often this past week and his lack of attendance is reflected in his drop in the standings, as well as potential. Davies has dropped from 7th overall to 10th overall which isn’t that far of a slide and can easily be corrected. LW – Fredrik Stefansson @The Professor Offense: C- Defense: D+ Physical: C+ Potential: B+ Strengths: Positioning, Puckhandling, Speed Weaknesses: Getting Open, Passing, Defensive Read Scouting Notes: Fredrik Stefansson dropped one spot this week form 10th to 11th overall and not really because of his own doing. Fredrik for the most part is still hovering around that late first round, and has been training, and hitting the ice however was passed by a few players who visited the rink just a few more times than he has and that is the main reason for the drop in potential. I still expect to see Fredrik stay as a late first round pick, and he does have the potential to surprise and move up in the rankings as he does have a lot to offer. LW – Nikolaj Boyle @zaynzk Offense: C- Defense: F Physical: B- Potential: B Strengths: Puck handling, Acceleration, Speed Weaknesses: Checking, Defensive Read, Positioning Scouting Notes: Nikolaj comes flying in to close out the first round in this week of the draft rankings rising one spot in the rankings from 13th overall to 12th overall. This past week Nikolaj has worked on improving his agility and strength which increased his physical rating from a C+ to a B-. Although Nikolaj did was not seen on the ice every day of this past week, resulting in a potential decrease, he did improve his overall game and did enough to squeak into the first round. Now will he remain there? Only time will tell. _____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________ LD- Zayne Rotzbua @inverted Offense: D- Defense: C+ Physical: C Potential: B Strengths: Checking, Hitting, Fighting Weaknesses: Puckhandling, Offensive Read, Agility Scouting Notes: Zayne inches his way up two spots from last weeks ranking of 15th overall to his ranking this week at 13th overall. Zayne has been training hard this past week, however has not seen any benefit from this training as of yet, and is expected to see that come draft day. Zayne was not on the ice everyday this past week but has done enough to make a case for himself at 13th overall. He will be looking to break the barrier and enter the first round in next weeks rankings. RW- Friedensreich Hundertwasser @Asked Madden Offense: C Defense: D+ Physical: C+ Potential: B Strengths: Passing, Puckhandling, Stickchecking Weaknesses: Getting open, Defensive Read, Checking Scouting Notes: I personally feel like Friedensreich read my scouting report last week, I like to think highly of myself, and worked on the weaker parts of his game. This past week the young Austrian worked hard on developing his skills when getting open and his defensive read which ultimately improved his ranking from last week. He Friedensreich has gone from being ranked 17th to 14th this week, and I expect to see this trend continue. RW – Casey Outlaw @jonnysauce22 Offense: C- Defense: C- Physical: C- Potential: B Strengths:Bravery, Screening, Stamina Weaknesses: Acceleration, Speed, Agility Scouting Notes: Another player that I see improving the attributes I listed as being a weakness in last weeks report. Casey has been working hard on his skating ability this past week and that has translated to the increase in his draft ranking. Casey has risen from last weeks rank at 19th overall to this weeks ranking of 15th overall. I am happy to see this kind of growth from this player, and can’t wait to see what he does next week. C – Leon Schweingruber @DApolloS Offense: D Defense: C Physical: D Potential: B Strengths: Faceoffs, Speed, Stamina Weaknesses: Getting Open, Agility, Offensive Read Scouting Notes: Leon this past week has been working on his offensive game more so in his passing game and shooting range. Additionally, Leon has worked on one of his known weaknesses which was his strength. The improvement that Leon has shown has been impressive, and he has been frequently at the rink working on his game with his skills coach. Leon improves on his last weeks ranking of 20th overall and has risen to 16th overall. LW- David S. Pumpkins @Rev Offense: C+ Defense: D- Physical: C Potential: B+ Strengths: Speed, Screening,Puckhandling Weaknesses: Positioning, Stickchecking, Defensive Read Scouting Notes: Sorry I couldn’t help it. Halloween really gave this kid a boost! I swear! David has been doing everything right this past week and has decided to focus on improving his skating, and offensive skills this past week. I personally feel that he still needs to work on his defensive game however I am sure that he will tackle that in the near future. David was previously ranked at 22nd overall and has now risen to 17th overall during this weeks ranking. Additionally because of David’s impressive work ethic, and on ice attendance his potential has risen to a B+. Keep it up kid! RD - Jörg Fuchs @rapideagle Offense: C- Defense: C- Physical: C Potential: A- Strengths: Shooting Accuracy, Speed, Puckhandling Weaknesses: Agility, Getting Open, Shotblocking Scouting Notes: This one is a bit of a surprise to me. Jorg was previously ranked at 9th overall last week, and has now fallen to 18th overall in the rankings. I am quite shocked really as Jorg hasn’t really done anything significant to warrant the drop, but other players have just been doing more. This past week Jorg has only worked on improving his stamina which was already a strength of his, and has neglected the other parts of his game. The young german hasn’t always been present at the rink this past week, but I can see that changing next week. LD – Ole Olson @Amidships Offense: D+ Defense: C Physical: C+ Potential: B Strengths: Stamina, Puckhandling, Defensive Read Weaknesses: Offensive Read, Getting Open, Speed Scouting Notes: Olson has not be consistent in visiting the rink each day, and typically attends just over 50% of the time currently. Olson does however ensure that he has completed his training these past two weeks however has not seen the benefits as of yet. Olson is holding steady in his ranking, and has dropped one spot from 18th overall to 19th overall. So far from what we have seen I believe he will likely hover around this spot come draft day. RD- Finn von Murphenstein @r0tzbua Offense: C Defense: D Physical: C+ Potential: B Strengths: Acceleration, Speed, Offensive Read Weaknesses: Shot Blocking, Defensive Read, Stickchecking Scouting Notes: This past week Finn has been working on all aspects of his game from, offense, defense and physical. Finn rarely visits the rink but still make sure to improve his game and train with his skills coach or hit the gym. As expected, Finn has fallen from 16th overall in the rankings to 20th overall due to the lack of attendance for practice. This can easily change, and I fully think that it might come week 3. LW – Gerry Atrick @MrRuihu Offense: C Defense:C- Physical: C+ Potential: B+ Strengths: Stamina, Speed, Offensive Read Weaknesses: Shooting Accuracy, Checking, Positioning Scouting Notes: Our first player this draft that has not changed in the draft rankings from last week at all. The young swede remains ranked at 21st overall in the draft. I am sure he would be ranked a lot higher however much like the young Izzy he tends to keep himself “hidden” from scouts, and rarely “posts” on social media meaning it is hard to catch him at the rink. Although he may not be present all to often at the rink, he has been steadily training and improving himself which sees him maintain his previous weeks position. I honestly expect him to stay around this ranking until the draft. RD – Billy Benson @supertardis101 Offense: C Defense: C+ Physical: C+ Potential: C+ Strengths: Stamina, Hitting, Defensive Read Weaknesses: Positioning, Checking, Shotblocking Scouting Notes: This past week Billy has focused on improving his physical game and it has paid off increasing his physical ranking from a C to a C+. Billy however has rarely been seen on the ice, and this has caused him to remain around the same ranking as last week and a slight drop in his potential. Billy has improved his standing by one position from last weeks 23rd overall to this weeks ranking of 22nd. Slow and steady may truly win the race here. LW – Jonny Tsunami @Jonny Tsunami Offense: C- Defense: F Physical: C Potential: C+ Strengths: Getting Open, Shooting Accuracy, Offensive Read Weaknesses: Positioning, Defensive Read, Checking Scouting Notes: Jonny Tsunami is making some waves and washes out the competition making his way from last weeks ranking at 27th overall to this weeks 23rd overall. The slight increase was due to Jonny’s determination in the gym which saw him work hard to improve his game however the benefits of this training has yet to be seen. Jonny has not really been hitting the ice frequently however his determination has helped him jump 4 spots in the rankings, and give a boost to his potential from a C to a C+. Looking forward to watching this player, and see if he can push into the middle or early second round. LW- Cole Carter @Boomcheck Offense: C Defense: D Physical: C+ Potential: C Strengths: Offensive Read, Puckhandling, Balance Weaknesses: Defensive Read, Positioning, Getting Open Scouting Notes: And Im FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE….FREEEEEEE FALLLEN. Cole Carter has fallen of a cliff this past week. Cole was ranked 11th overall last week and has fallen all the way to 24th overall this week. This has been the biggest drop of any player in this draft class so far. Cole has the pedigree to be a great player however he has not been seen at the rink hardly ever in the past couple of weeks, and has not completed any training to improve his game. If that doesn’t change this week I expect him to continue to free fall in the standings. _____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________ C- Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple Offense: C+ Defense: C- Physical: C Potential: C+ Strengths: Offensive Read, Faceoffs, Puckhandling Weaknesses: Checking, Strength, Defensive Read Scouting Notes: Our first newcomer this week!!! Dogwood comes in this week in the standings at the start of the 3rd round at 25th overall. Dogwood is a 6 ft 3 in tall, 200 pound centre that is described as being a jack of all trades when it comes to his overall game. Dogwood typically doesn’t play much of a physical game and isn’t one to check the opposing players however he has deadly vision and puck handling abilities as well as being great on the faceoff dot. You will rarely see him on the PK, however expect him to be a mainstay on the power play and on your 1st or 2nd line. Really looking forward to observing this player as seeing how he does. G – Sebastian Andrews @Sevdast Potential: C- Strengths: Mental Toughness, Blocker, Rebound Weaknesses: Goalie Stamina, Passing, Positioning Scouting Notes: Sebastian Andrews sees himself fall this week from 25th overall to 26th overall in the rankings. While Sebastian has been seen at the rink almost everyday these past two weeks it has not translated into any thing. Sebastian has not been training and has not been improving his game and it shows, potential has fallen from a C to a C-. Sebastian can easily eclipse the third round and become an early second round pick if he shows he has the willingness to train and work on his game. I am hoping for a turnaround this next week. RW – Mew Two @zeagle1 Offense: B- Defense: F Physical: C Potential: C Strengths: Shooting Accuracy, Getting Open, Offensive Read. Weaknesses: Checking, Stickchecking, Defensive Read Scouting Notes: Another new player this week joining the S58 draft, Mew Two is a one-dimensional sniper that is deadly at any spot in the offensive zone. He is perfect on the powerplay and will score more often than not. He is weak in his own zone and typically cheats defensively. Mew Two has been frequenting the rink a lot this past week, and has also been training and working on his game. I fully expect that this won’t be the last that we will be hearing about this rookie. RD – Doss Williams @Dossington47 Offense: D+ Defense: B- Physical: C Potential: C- Strengths: Defensive Read, Positioning, Stamina Weaknesses: Offensive Read, Getting Open, Shooting Accuracy Scouting Notes: Doss is a newcomer this week and lands himself in the 28th spot of my scouting rankings. Doss is a defensive first right defenseman that is quite balanced in the way he plays the game. He is not afraid to get in front of the puck and block shots for his goalie, and is very effective defensively. Where he lacks is in his speed up and down the ice and isn’t really to be relied on offensively. I see him increasing his draft stock as the weeks go on. RW- Sir Bearington 3rd @ThePope Offense: F Defense: D+ Physical: C Potential: C+ Strengths: Checking, Hitting, Strength Weaknesses: Defensive Read, Offensive Read, Puckhandling Scouting Notes: Sir Bearington the 3rd hasn’t really been hitting the ice much this past week as he had in his first week on the draft rankings. He additionally has not been training as much as the other prospects on this board as such his potential has fallen from a C+ to a D+, and his rank has dropped from 24th overall to 29th overall in this weeks rankings. G- Russell Rattie @alilSlug Potential: D+ Strengths: Mental Toughness, Goalie Stamina, Rebound Weaknesses: Low Shots, Poke Check, Passing Scouting Notes:Russell Rattie has been a mainstay on at the rink and has been found there every day since he became a known asset for this upcoming draft. Rattie would be ranked higher had he been training and improving his game which he has not done thus far, however I do expect him to do so shortly. Looking forward to seeing him climb the rankings. C- Rouboute Guilliman @Hazack Offense: C+ Defense: D+ Physical: C Potential: D+ Strengths: Getting Open, Shooting Accuracy, Stamina Weaknesses: Passing, Checking, Positioning. Scouting Notes: The illusive Rouboute Guilliman shows his face for the first time this past week and goes for a hardcore workout on the ice , improving his game. Rouboute did train this past week, and also attended the ice rink once. This is better than what I observed in last weeks standings, however it won’t be enough for him to maintain his position. Roubout falls from 28th overall to 31st overall in this weeks rankings. LW- James O’Brien @Peterson Offense: B- Defense: F Physical: C Potential: D Strengths: Puckhandling, Shooting Accuracy, Offensive Read Weaknesses: Checking, Defensive Read, Positioning Scouting Notes: James O’Brien is a new player entering the draft in this weeks edition of the draft rankings. James is a sniper that is deadly in the offensive zone, and looks for opportunity to jump on the puck and bury it in the net, whether that be standing in front of the goalie, collecting a rebound, or firing off a one-timer. James is a decently fast skater that can weave in and out of defenders but tends to lose his balance from time to time, and get easily get outmuscled. Defensively James is currently a liability so don’t expect much from him, in his own end. He comes in this week at 32nd overall, ranked as a third round pick. RD – Ivanka Biden @Coreyshoe941 Offense: D Defense: C Physical: B- Potential: D Strengths: Stamina, Speed, Agility Weaknesses: Puckhandling, Passing, Defensive Read Scouting Notes: Ivanka has not really been seen at the rink at all since declaring for the S58 SMJHL draft and as such his potential has fallen from a C to a D. Additionally, Ivanka has trained a little bit to improve his game but nothing substantial. This week he falls from 26th overall to 33rd overall in the rankings. RW – Theo McFleury @Pharaoh97 Offense: C Defense: D Physical: C+ Potential:D- Strengths: Speed, Offensive Read, Acceleration Weaknesses: Defensive Read, Positioning, Checking Scouting Notes: Theo is a new player in the rankings this time around and has been at the rink practically every single day since declaring for the draft. Theo has yet to undergo training to improve his overall game however I am hoping to see this change shortly. Theo is a responsible offensive player, with a slightly lacking defensive game. Where Theo excels is in his physical attributes, as he is a phenomenal skater, able to stop on a dime and avoid opposing players with ease. This kid can be something special. RW – Chase Thorne @glb2687 Offense: C Defense: F Physical: C+ Potential: F Strengths: Speed, Strength, Offensive Read Weaknesses: Defensive Read, Checking, Positioning Scouting Notes: Keeping this short and sweet. Chase Thorne has not really been active at the local rink, and has yet to complete any training since declaring for the draft in week one. He sees himself fall from 29th overall to 35th overall in my rankings. LW- Juraj Hertel @Perky Offense: C- Defense: F Physical: C Potential: F Strengths: Stamina, Acceleration, Offensive Read Weaknesses: Checking, Positioning, Stickchecking Scouting Notes: Juraj like Chase before him hasn’t been to the ice rink at all to work on his game and has yet to undergo training to improve his game. If this doesn’t change then the downward trend will continue. This week he has fallen from 31st to 36th overall to end off the third round. _____________________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________________ G- Derrik Smith @Derrik Smith Potential: F Strengths: Recovery, Goalie Stamina, Reflexes Weaknesses: Mental Toughness, Blocker, Glove Scouting Notes: Derrik is a raw prospect type of goalie and this is his first week on the draft board. He ultimately has generational stamina, good recovery and good reflexes however the remainder of his game is lacking, and tends to get beat fairly often and then subsequently demotivated. Currently he has not frequented the rink very often, hardly ever, and has not been training to improve his ability. He ranks this week at the start of the fourth round at 37th overall. LW- Sergei Galimov @Sergei Galimov Offense: C+ Defense: D+ Physical: C Potential: F Strengths: Stamina, Offensive Read, Getting Open Weaknesses: Defensive Read, Balance, Stickchecking Scouting Notes: I really like Sergei’s skill set. A new player in this draft he is a two way winger, who is deadly in the offensive zone and responsible in his own end however he is not very physical and can easily be bumped off the puck. Sergei recently declared for the S58 draft so it is hard to say where he will end up but I do hope he ends up climbing the rankings. Sergei has not trained as of yet to improve himself and finds himself ranking it at 38th overall. C- Ric Charlesworth @simo_393 Offense: C- Defense: D Physical: C Potential: F Strengths: Offensive Read, Puck handling , Faceoffs Weaknesses: Defensive Read, Positioning , Stickchecking. Scouting Notes: Ric is another new player that has just declared for this draft and he tends to be a shoot first ask questions later type of centre, who is strong in the offensive zone but weak in the defensive zone. Ric has great physical skill and speed which will lend to his abilities. Ric has come in at 39th overall in the rankings this week, looking forward to seeing improvement next week. RD – Fufi Fufunci @Istinumber8 Offense: D Defense: C Physical: C+ Potential: F Strengths: Stamina, Puckhandling, Strength Weaknesses: Defensive Read, Offensive Read, Shooting Accuracy. Scouting Notes: Sigh..like last week Fufi has not been present, and I have not seen him around. He continues to fall and is now ranked 40th overall.
