In a draft class dominated by notable recreates, Richard LaFleur crashes onto the scene as a complete unknown. With no reputation to carry his potential worth, he can only prove himself with hard work and determination to succeed ahead of the SMJHL Entry Draft this upcoming Sunday. While LaFleur might be a relative nobody in the eyes of inquiring General Managers, he is no stranger to the game of Hockey. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, LaFleur grew up with the game. He idolized the Vancouver Canucks and their stars, past and present. Having taken to the game from an early age, LaFleur spent his early youth on the pond with his boyhood friends. While he wasn't the biggest, strongest skater, or most skilled, LaFleur possessed a good mind for the game. He applied his instincts to develop a strong sense of positional play, and utilizing puck movement to create chances for himself and his team. Naturally a lefty, LaFleur found his home at Right Defense. Moving the puck quickly and accurately on the breakout, and keeping himself between the puck and the net in the defensive zone are his top priorities. Looking for his teammates in the offensive zone, while not being shy to put the puck on next from the blueline. While he may be lacking in experience, LaFleur is ready and able to continue his development and work hard for his team. His potential ceiling is unknown, but consistent growth will come when nurtured by the proper club.

With several prospective Scouts and General Managers already reaching out to get a better feel for the youngster, his hopes are high coming in to the Draft this Sunday. Even with a stacked field of established talent, it's not a matter of if this charismatic rookie will get picked up, but how soon in the draft.
