I think for a beginner stamina is one of the most important attributes to build up. It helps your player play the best they can without getting tired and if you have a good build but no stamina your player won't be as good as advertised. Thus, stamina is quite important.

For goalies, you're probably looking at your Positioning skill. Its what puts you in place to make a save, so really its the base for the rest of the goalie's actions. If you're not in the right spot to make a save, it doesn't matter how fast your glove is or how good your poke check is.

The most important stat in my opinion is Checking. While I'm a defensive-minded GM to a fault, being able to stay with your man in your own zone is critical to any successful team.

It's really interesting topic to talk about, because it's based on which position is his player and what type of role he has. Plus, it's even more individual if we look after fact that each team has different needs and his coach might want him to upgrade other attributes and not these which I suggest him to upgrade.
For example: center needs too max out face-offs, because he will play at center position. All offensive attributes are needed aswell. If he's a passer then more passing, but if sniper - then shooting. Mostly have to focus on offensive attributes. Defensive attributes only if he is trying to make defensive forward. Wingers are mostly similar to centers, except they don't need face-offs as attribute. Only if team's GM decides him to play as center and then he can upgrade it while season is going. Sniper needs to have shooting again, but passer - more passing. However - he have to focus on offensive attributes. Defenders need more physical attributes and of course - defensive attributes. If defender is offensive defender, then he needs some offensive attributes too. Psyhical ones, of course, too. I have to remind that every skater needs solid stamina rating, since FHM6 needs that attribute a lot - otherwise, player isn't doing well. It's needed for each position. I don't know about goalies though. I am not really interested in to that, so it's hard to help with that. I would probably send him to some user who had goalie in this league for long time (or even still has it). I think that it would help much more if he has created a goalie. It's much different for goalies, because they need to have GOOD build to play well and it's pretty much mind game. Only user who has a goalie know how to do it. That's some real mission to do. At least I think so... However - it's very individual. I would need to understand what position he will play, what type of role he wants to be. I would send him some links from YouTube with tutorials and helpful articles which helps to create good player on FHM6 aswell. There are plenty stuff on internet which would help with creating an amazing player on FHM6. If it's middle of SMJHL season or even Play-Offs and player might get called up to SHL, I might even suggest him to bank TPE till that, because his GM in SHL might have his priorities. For example, I would love to upgrade my offensive attributes, but my team needs better defense, so I'm focusing on that. That's an example that you need to understand what role your player has and what your team needs. 450 words

If I could only give one answer, I'd tell them balance is the most important attribute. Not only does the balance stat itself help with reducing turnovers and such, it could also be interpreted to mean that every stat is important in moderation, like all things in life.

This one is easy.
Bravery. What is the main message that almost every shonen anime stresses on besides the power of friendship? Bravery in the face of fear. Because without fear, one cannot be Brave.

Obviously shooting range is the most important stat. anyone can score from a few feet out, but sniping in goals from the blue line? That type of scoring requires at least 13 shooting range, if not higher.

Speaking of attributes in general, there is no clear winner about which one is the best. Every attribute is as important as the one before or after it, because each attribute makes a player whole. If there were an attribute to pick out of every single one in the pool, it would definitely be Passing. Why passing you may ask? Well, naturally the ability of a player to pass very creatively and confidently is highly undersought after. Now, to break it down why I would recommend it
If a player has low passing, his ability to create plays is highly decreased. If you cant land a pass to another player, you will lose momentum and therefore will lose grip on another team and the most important thing that it messes up is the potential scoring situation. The higher the player's passing ability is, the higher his worth is offensively. A players high passing skill allows him to make more creative passes which most of the time results in catching the enemy team off-guard, allowing other forwards and why not also defenders explore different options in their own offensive area. This is why I would recommend EVERY player to invest their skill points in passing, because it is singlehandedly the most important attribute for every role, from defensive defenders to playmaking forwards.

Depending on the role you choose the most vital stats will vary to some extent. That being said, speed is certainly essential for really any role. Speed kills as they say. The ability to get somewhere on the ice quicksand hard to overstate.

Obviously the most important is fighting. What's the best way to win? Have the opposing team's best player in the penalty box. If you max out your fighting, you will be a liability on the ice, sure. But...if you can egg the other team into fighting you, then you can remove yourself from the ice (plus) and remove one of the opponents best players from the ice (another plus). It's a double plus. Also, have you noticed the only events the sim team focus on? Yup, that's right, it's when fights occur. The sim team pauses on the fight and scans to the play-by-play to see who won. They don't do that for goals/assists/saves. So clearly fighting is the most important part of the league.

i would tell the the new user that puck handling is the most important attribute. So many people agree with that. In fact, like some sort of bizarre cult ritual, they like to remind everyone how important it is by posting:
PH on every SHL Player Progression thread. It's kinda weird because sometimes they change their mind and completely update that post removing the PH.

hey kid! you wanna know what stat to improve upon and where to pour all that precious tpe into?? you made the right choice, comin' to old jimmy nutcluster's home. so- the secret that people will tell ya? all depends on what you wanna be when you grow up and where you stand on the ice. you a forward boye? shooting accuracy and shooting range. if you're a defense boye? deffensive read and offensive read. but listen here kiddo... im about to tell you the most important stat of all. and that is... STRENGTH. you wanna make sure you have big boy muscles and big boy chest hair at ALL TIMES. you can shoot a puck real far with accuracy?? means nothing if you can skate fast to move around all the obstacles that are huge men. you can bully the others??? doesn't matter if they can trample you with their fists. you need to be STRONG, without overall strength, you are nothing. you are a weak little mongoose crying for its mommy. so POUR that tpe right into strength and watch your boy become a man.

I think the most important stat for every player is Checking. I think it's the most important stat because it is equally important for Forwards and Defensemen across all archetypes. Checking is the most important defensive attribute and combined with being valuable across all player types, I would argue is the most important attribute.

Well I think it was made pretty clear for most new users, that if they want to play big minutes they need stamina, however I feel like very user knows this now, and builds it into their player.
I think the next tier would have to be split between balance / checking / strength. Many users want to build forward that score goals or rack up the points and they think they need to hit the offensive stats heavy. However, the three attributes mentioned above, will have much larger effect than just dumping points into accuracy. I feel like they may be overlooked at first by many new users.

I think defensive reads is the most important stat. You can survive in the league without much offensive ability or speed. However if you are unable to see a play while on defense and react accordingly, you will be back to flipping burgers.
