S58 PT #2 Payday!

Pay day is always welcome. I have been able to build a pretty good nest egg over my long career but it never hurts to get a little bit more for when my ice time comes to an end. I have spoken here before about where a lot of my free time and money goes in my work in setting up youth hockey leagues and training in Korea. Although that is where a lot of my extra cash goes to I do use the old funds in other ways. As the members of BAP know I am quite the avid home cook. I already have a set up that I am happy with but I am in the process of transforming my basement into a fermentation lab. Korean food is my jam and I am always running out of my small batch kimchi. Well no more! I'll be swimming in that beautiful spicy fermented cabbage soon. I've set aside a chunk of change to start a mirco brew business as well. I need some tasty suds to go with all my cooking and hopefully it can pick up steam for when my playing days are over.

I love making big money playing a literal game. Now, don't get me wrong it is work, but it's fun work. You need to be mindful of things like your diet, nutrition, physical shape, conditioning and mental awareness. These things all require dedicated time and a schedule that you can adhere to. The good news for me is that most of us make easily enough to be able to automate these things. For example, once the debts are paid in full and the cars / house costs are off then I'm able to turn my attention towards something I've wanted for a long time: A Personal Chef! For the first time ever this summer I will begin employing a full time chef to work at my house and prepare delicious and nutritious food that I don't even need to think about. I'll be able to work with them to design a meal plan that fits my lifestyle and provides me everything I need to get the nutritional advantage over my opponents this season and hopefully moving forward. This will help my with recovery as my body continues to get older and I start to slip into regression.

Another season, another 6 million coming into Luca Del Vecchio’s pockets. But actually not. After paying the SHLPA their union fees, his agent his yearly fee, and repurchasing equipment, Luca is left with around 3 million. Of those, most are put into a savings account in the bank or invested through a wealth management fund, who also takes some fees.
Ultimately, this leaves Luca with around 300 thousand of fun money for the year. This money is mostly used on food and nights out with the team, but also for some of Luca’s passions. Luca has been enjoying taking flight courses and is saving up some money to buy a small private jet. He hopes to be able to start a luxury travel flight company to service the east coast of the US and Canada. Flying is definitely not a cheap hobby and time for classes can be difficult to find during the season but there is plenty of catch-up time to be had in the off-season. I've already gone ahead and spent pretty much all the money I got from the new contract. When I saw that personal training, I knew there was no hope for my bank account to recover. I immediately bought the biggest training I could and have been killing it so far in the Juniors because of it, no regrets! With the remaining cash, I'm thinking about grabbing our captain, Beanman, a month of Belle Delphine OF subscription. He's a good guy and he's been there for us, whether we want it or not, I figured this is the least I could do to reward him. I'm also thinking of treating the team to a dinner on me. The offseason came around so quickly after winning the championship, we didn't really have much time to celebrate as a team afterwards. I hear that's a rookie sort of initiation anyway, I'll just take my dues a season later than usual.

In terms of SHL there are two things to spend money on. You've got your weekly training and your coaching. First I set aside 4 Million for the next 4 weeks of Weekly Training and then I see if I have enough left over to afford the top tier of coaching. If I do, then great I can get it right away and have that taken care of for the season. If I don't then I have to make a plan to write some media or record a podcast in order to get the money I need in order to get that top tier of coaching.
As for my player Kobo, well he is living the high life up in Vancouver. He loves to go snowboarding, and after he got paid he got a brand new board and also new gear to go along with it. He also splurged on some new hockey gloves he had been eyeing for a while that he thinks will help his game offensively. Kobo also knows he will be living in Tampa this time next year, so he has set aside quite a lot of cash so that he can set himself up nicely down in Florida once it is time to move down to Tampa. He has already been in conversation with Tom Brady about where the best spots to live in Tampa are. ![]() ![]() Registered Member
Well since Noah doesn't want to spend to much money he really saves up as he is on a smaller contract so he tries to limit what he spends. He does live in a nice cozy house to himself but tries his best to not spend a lot of money on things as saving up is the most important deal to maybe buy training with it or personal coaching. Whatever it may be Noah tries to never spend his cash. But he did get his parents a car or two because he just could not resist. And he may make a few donations to charities. Sometimes teammates are shocked that at Noah's age he is so wise with his money that he has. And Noah really doesn't have much money for personal coaching so he can't really do that at the moment. Okay maybe he invested in some gamestop stock but that's about it.

"nothing is better than payday" could not be any less true for me, I hate it so much. It took me twelve, I repeat TWELVE, seasons to earn more than 3M, and you guessed it, my raise was only 1M. Thank god that minimum salary is a thing because I swear Hamilton GMs would be paying me 500k a season if they could, and they would consider that generous. I have earned 37.5M over 14 seasons, that's 2.68M a season on average. That buys you like what, 2 weekly trainings? Yeah thanks for the help Hamilton, can't wait to leave in free agency. Anyway, to get back to your question, I spend most of my salary on therapy and alcohol. It's not very easy to cope with the fact that I'm one of the lowest-paid players in the league. Some rookies make more than me. If I could give advice to my younger self, it would be asking for 10x10 after my ELC. Fuck Hallsy, Mills and Gabe. Pay me.

Well with my brand new 4 million dollars I was able to bring in for this year of hockey with the Los Angeles Panthers I definitely decided to spend it wisely. After making money since I first signed my contract I have been pretty set on most things like a house, car, and the other amenities. A lot of my money now goes into savings for the future and for training purposes to make sure I can stay at peak physical condition for as long as possible and to get as much money as possible while playing. I spend a lot on my offseason training where I go very hard to build up my stamina and other stats and use a good amount during the season to do my training each week working on different skills on and off the ice. I also can not help myself as I do spend money each and every season on wrestling school and learning new maneuvers. Honestly, you never know when you might have to powerbomb someone through the ice.

Well, I am thankful for being one of the richest people on the site right now. With almost 160M in the bank, I can really do whatever I want! Right now I am saving up to try and crack the top 10 richest people on the site, but buying training and coaching set me back a bit. Reid the player spends his dolla billz on fun things to do in Seattle. Recently moving from Winnipeg means that he has a lot more good weather for things to do. He bought the fanciest mountain bike you can find, with a dropper post, fancy shock, and carbon fiber frame all included. Of course he had to buy all of the equipment to go along with it as well. Seeing as he is on the west coast now, he will probably spend some money on a new house to live in, and some money on travelling around to see the sights. Maybe go whale watching, maybe check out the surfing scene. Most importantly, he has to buy his teammates a present to welcome himself to the team. Maybe a $500 bottle of scotch for everyone on the team? [195 words]
Thanks Wasty, Carpy, JSS, TurdFerguson, Geekusoid and Awesomecakes for the sigs!

As of right now Scoochie has been saving his money and keeping it in an investment account while he ponders his future. As of now he has no plans on leaving Toronto but his contract is going to be expiring after this season so wants to make sure he has a stable team before making a full purchase for his first home. Definitely wouldn't be a big deal to have to re-sell a house shortly but just having to move out immediately after only one season of use of the house would be just a lot of work that he wouldn't want to go through. Right now though he recently has been using some of his money to help food drives in the local Toronto community since helping out the local community is something he would want to do even more so in the future once he is nearing his playing career and has become more famous within the league.

Big olllllllllll bucket of fish am i right!? In actuality I would spend contract money building the sickest and most fun domicile (house) i could imagine. I would invest heavily in aquatic landscaping, with pool(s) and stream(s) and perhaps a lake or pond as well. I think it'd be really exciting to have a complicated system of waterways on the property so that If I got bored of living or hanging out inside, i could go have some fun in the water outdoors. It gets slightly cold in Atlanta during the winter so it's probably not typical pool weather but I can handle it! I spent two seasons in Alaska. I would purchase a similar plot of land for my parents, since I want them to have the same amenities that I enjoy but i'd like some personal space so they can have their own house among several fun waterways - stay away from mine! I would also pay for a service to keep those waterways stocked with fish daily/weekly.

Walton Stromberg has been making decent money from the casino and other off-ice activities. He has his essential expenses very nicely covered, and some nicely diversified low-risk investments to ensure he will have a great standard of living in the after-hockey life. But he still can put aside a decent amount of “play money” every month, which he allows himself to spend his more creatively. Walton does not understand at all how cryptocurrencies work, but he has the feeling that Bitcoin will keep going up. Walton’s been investing on Bitcoin for a while now, but hasn’t disclosed his price target. Walton also recently decided to hire a personal chef. It eliminates one of the key stress elements from his life, which would be grocery shopping and cooking. This frees time for mental and physical recovering from the hard hockey life. His next big purchase will probably be a personal fitness and conditioning coach, who’d give some new ideas for his physical development.

Twist is known to all as a family man. He grew up with a brother in Ireland and is very supportive of his family both near and far. Every cousin he's ever heard from that needs a new set of tires or a new water heater, Patric is happy to provide. His family's troubles are his troubles. His used his first paycheck to get new rims on his grandparents Cadillac. Grandpa got it by embezzling funds as the mayor of his small town. Stealing normally sounds like a bad thing. But that's actually what the town elects their mayor on. Whoever they thing will steal tax money the best. The town doesn't have a library or running water and that's how they like it. The last time they had a mayor that didn't steal tax money the mayor built a pool. They built up a swim team and got competitive very quickly. One kid, Thomas was so good he was able to get to nationals for Ireland. But Thomas tragically was disqualified for PEDs. Now how would a 12 year old get PEDs? Well you guessed it, the Mayor. From that point on the town figured if our mayor is gonna be a jerk we might as well elect the best jerk we can find. RIP Grandpa.
