The SHL will first need a rebrand to SHAWL. Yes, yes, you might be thinking, doesn't that acronym spell out the word "shawl?" You would be correct, but it stands for SIMULATION HOCKEY ARCHERY WORLD LEAGUE!!! Now doesn't that sound much better? SHAWL will be a revolutionary version of hockey. Many times the skaters will pick fights with one another or hit each other to gain possession of the puck. Well you don't have to hit anymore! That's not extreme enough!!! Now you can shoot ARROWS at other skaters with your BOW AND ARROW!!! There will be penalties awarded, of course, if you ever aim for the head or groin areas, but everywhere else is completely fine and legal. Everyone knows that hockey players are the toughest athletes, with many famous cases of players continuing to skate while injured. This will be the primary selling point of SHAWL: everyone will be injured after being pierced multiple times with arrows!!! Watch the blood take over the ice as the game continues!! It will be a huge success.

If I had to add one thing to the arena to make it different than the NHL, like slam ball did with the NBA, I would add air bags to 5% of the outside boardings. Now, don’t get me wrong, these are not air bags for player safety. These things are fully loaded and will react as if you’re going head on in a 60 MPH collision. These things are here for DAMAGE, not damage control. Just picture it, the necks snapping and the bodies flying. Not only would it render the skater unconscious upon contact giving the opposing team a power play, he would then wake up and be tangled inside the air bag. I laugh thinking about the semi-conscious player swatting away at the fabric that’s imprinted into his skull. Why 5%? Well we don’t want to get too carried away. 5% would lead to maybe 1 or 2 going off in the entirety of the game. They will be placed at random, making it a ticking time bomb of destruction.

Some extreme changes to the rinks in the SHL that would make it more appealing to the fans and make it more big leagues in a way then the NHL, easily, you would have blades coming out of the boards. You could then have like pit traps that open randomly in the ice and attempt to swallow a player whole. After that, randomly along the boards, you get flame streaks that shoot out and set people’s jerseys on fire. Man, that would be so fucking intense. You also have to think about potentially adding some brass knuckles under gloves, or over gloves, so that the fights would be so much more brutal. You want to appeal to human nature’s love for violence and adding these few different things to the rinks and the players would make the game much more violent for the fans to watch at home from the comfort of their couches, and they get to see players literally risking it all.

Twitch has purchased the rights to the SHL and wants to make it their new main draw. Drawing on the different video games that are popular on Twitch they went to work modifying the SHL. First, to capitalize on the popularity of Among Us each team will have a randomly assigned impostor each game. It is that players job to sabotage their team as much as possible without being caught. The team's will vote to remove a player that they suspect is the impostor after the first and second periods. Second, Minecraft is still one of the most popular games on Twitch so teams will be allowed to craft during games. Broken sticks and lost equipment will no longer be removed by refs but left on the ice surface to be repurposed by players. Finally, battle royale games boomed like made. To build off of this the ice surface will shrink ever 5 minutes. The boards will automatically contract and force an increasingly hectic style of play throughout the game.

The SHL adopts some bits of NHL strategy and rules of the old pro beach hockey and increases goal sizes while also adding a two point line behind the circles. Shots, even ones deflected, from behind this line count for two points at even strength but not on the man advantage or from your own half of the ice. This allows for swingier, exciting, high scoring games that allow for more runs and put value on to players that can clap bombs but also players that can play better defense on the perimeter. Outside of the two point line, goal sizes should increase just a bit to increase volume of scoring and make the difference between a good goalie and a mediocre goalie more noticeable by making their job harder. The SHL would then be able to compete for viewership with the hockey fans that like to watch the skilled defense as well as fans who are only in it for the high powered offenses.

Sharks with freaking Lasers Beams on their heads! This would require pools in the ice for the sharks to be effective. I suggest pools going along the wings of the rink, with small breaks for the players to enter and exit the bench. and maybe one or two pools in the middle to make sure the game is not just a brawl in the middle. Hopefully this will provide more of the two things Hockey fans love most. Silly needless violence and fancy skating and handling. I have absolutely zero evidence that either of these things will improve. I am not even sure we have the technology to attach lasers to sharks. Honestly are lasers like that even real or am I getting real life confused with sci-fi movies again? We could also require fights to stay next to the shark pools for added danger and fun. I think everyone will agree that this is the best way to surpass the NHL.

Sooo to change it up for starters we would make it free to fight without STOPPING PLAY! So you can just drop the gloves with someone at free will and let it go wild! Fans would love it double action as I would call it. Another thing I would do is when someone scores, you keep playing. The goalie would push the puck out and throw it down the ice and people kept playing! It would make games quicker and more fast paced action. Adding onto this the fights would depending on who won would get a point! Resulting in more fights, and points! Plus we might see the goalies get a little more action because if someone scores, and the goalie plays it right away we could see some crazy plays. This would surely bring in TSN or ESPN right? If this ever paced I would be very siked to see this happen.

One of the best sports game in the history of video games is Mario Strikers Charged Football, and the SHL could learn a thing or two from these games. Starting at the beginning of the next season, the rinks will be "strikerized" , for the amusement of all. The most important part, obviously, is the electrification of the boards. This will make the game very interesting and a lot faster since players will refrain from playing and holding the puck along the boards from fear of being rammed into the electric boards. There also won't be any more lines, screw icings and offsides: just do whatever, but know there aren't any penalties anymore, so the goalie can come and spear you if you're just loafing in front of him. The only "penalties" will be for excessive use of force : if still able to play, victims of unreasonnable hits will be awarded an item upon their return to the bench, which depends on the intensity of the abuse. We can of course assume this will make Gunnar Söderber the best player in the league, because the turtle item is very common and no-one can use it as well as @sköldpaddor, the Turtle Lord.

SHL will team up with national fishing organization, hockey stick and fishing rod aren't that different anyway. Games now will be played strictly on lakes and not indoors - this will improve players long term health and immunity. On lake fishing holes will be drilled and there will be 10 of them. There will be one hole in each goal, that way goalie can go fishing if he have nothing more important to do during game, when facing 10 shots in whole game there is at least 30 minutes of free time. Also there will be one fishing hole in each penalty box where players that are serving their suspension time won't be bored anymore, 5 minutes suspension with all game breaks can last forever. Last there will be three fishing holes around each teams bench, obviously players and coaching staff can do something interesting when nothing important is happening on ice. All fishes caught during game will go to winning team, biggest fish will go to game MVP.

I think you change the SHL from regular rinks over to the dome hockey foosball like set up. The players take the ice and the coach selects with slot they will be in that night and while they will be free to use their hockey skills to help with shots and passes and blocks, but their positioning can either be controlled by the coaches directly or even the fans depending on how interactive we want to make it. It would lead to deeper tactics in teams due the decisions you would have to make based on their set positions. Do you maybe put the ace tape to tape passer back in the defensive zone so that they can thread the needle to get the puck up the ice or do you want them in the offensive zone to try and help finish off chance? It has so many possibilities and options that would lead to a deeper more fulfilling game that could even provide more player to fan interactions.

Here's what I think we have to do. What does every entertaining show/movie have? Good vs Evil! That's something lacking from the SHL, there's no true villain. It would never draw the fans on network TV. So, I think we consolidate the current teams, and make one conference just ten teams on evil, time traveling cyborgs hell bent on world domination (and scoring more goals than the other team). So when we're on the ice, it's an all out battle for the win, but when we're off the ice, it's a war for all of mankind! Would allow us to put some personality on the players and let them show off their acting skills, while at the same time allows us to develop a story to keep fans tuning in each week and separates us from what the NHL offers! Could even make it animated for the kiddies!

Well I feel like a lot of the suggestions will be ways to up the physicality of the game when we need to try to not ruin other humans lives. So what rule would I suggest to make some ‘extreme’ changes? Well it’s a multilayered one.

Part 1) Make refs actually call all penalties with the ability to have a 2ndary team check them if they are ‘close’ or questionable.
- Tired of all the cross checking infront of the net? Or the ‘ref put their whistles away’? Or the blatant inference run on every single dump in? Well now in the SHL those actual calls will be made!

Part 2) If a team scores on a delayed penalty or during a power play, they do not end. Teams are left on the penalty kill until it expires.
- This should increase the pacing of the game with the 1st rule and make it much cleaner over time as taking a penalty will be so costly for a team. With the 2ndary checks in place to help refs, calls will almost always be right and increase scoring in general.

Once again, this is a great idea and it would make hockey much interesting to watch. But at the same time - it would be much dangerous too. There are no doubts that there would be much more injuries and it would be much dangerous.

Hockey court could be mach smaller and more as a circle. Much less armors, so there's more speed and they still play 5v5 with a goalie. No rules and it's like a boxing arena with some hockey in the background.

Would it be allowed on TV? It's a great question, but probably no, because there would be a lot of fighting. Plus, to make it all much interesting, commentators would be allowed to cuss and it would be only translation via internet and SHL official website.

I think it would help SHL to gain extra popularity aswell. It would bring them extra money, new fans and it would be at his peak. Hockey players would be more famous aswell. Maybe it would be more individual for players too, because there would be much more aggression and individual fights.

Because of the cult following Cinemax has picked up the SHL to broadcast its games. However based on the time of the game is how it must be played. For its afternoon broadcast, because no one is watching a hockey matinee anyway, they can just play hockey... because why not? For the early evening broadcast is where things get easier. Because they want to advance the fighting in the SHL players are given baseball bats to battle with when they fight. these are located around the rink for easy grabbing and fighting with. They can also be used to smack the puck away if their stick breaks like beaters in Quiditch. However the late night part of cinemax is where the deal gets weird. Because of their after dark programming, SHL players are required to play in their underwear. They are looking to bring in a more diverse audience for these games. Also with both genders being represented in the SHL they thought why not. Because Cinemax is pigs and they are only their for the boobies anyway
