S58 PT #6 Your Season

For the sixth point task of the fifty right season of the simulation hockey league I will talk about the season bork lazer had during the fifty eighth season of the simulation hockey league. Bork Lazer had a pretty shitty season during the fifty seventh season of the simulation hockey league. He was a rookie after all. This season I feel bork lazer did better. He scored more goals this season. Had more assists this season. Had more hits and shots blocked this season as well. I think Bork Lazer is not going to razzle dazzle you in the stat sheet though. He is a defense first player who makes plays that help the team win despite making it into the stat sheet. He was graded this season with a 75 defensive game rating on the season and that alone makes me happy with his season. Hoping next season I can truly break out even more.

Klompus had a heck of a season. Going into things I wasn't too sure how they were going to pan out with Minnesota but Klompus really excelled with the time on ice he was getting. He didn't break 30 points but with 12 goals and 17 assists I don't have much to complain about scoring sheet wise. Klompus is much more well-rounded now as well with only 12 PiMs while getting 59 hits and 79 shots blocked. He finally seems to be turning into the player I imagined he would and I look forward to the next seasons as he starts rolling into his prime. I am going to continue working on his offensive attributes over the off-season so he becomes a real threat on the powerplay at the point and in his own zone. Wherever Klompus ends up playing he should at least be a solid contribution to a team's top 4 and possible the top pairing like he has been playing on the younger Minnesota team. Lots of fun to come in this career still!

To be honest, I’m kind of disappointed with Hamr’s performance this season. First time since being traded to Tampa that I have fallen out of the top 10 in hits, coming in at number 11 with 180 hits. Ending up below 200 hits is disappointing in itself. Falling all the way to 11 even more so. Where I did make it up though was in a big fight win where I demolished my opponent. Doesn’t make up for a season of too few hits, but it’s a decent consolation. Blocked shots was solid as always, tied for 3rd in the league with 222 on the season. Another positive takeaway is the number of takeaways in the league. Finished 4th overall with 52, and had a respectable 28 giveaways. So, Hamr was better at getting the puck than losing it. I also had way more points this season than normal. 9 goals and 22 assists for 31 points doesn’t seem like a crazy high amount, but it’s a personal high for Hamr (albeit by one), so not going to complain about that. Plus, Tampa had a real shot at playoffs this season which hasn’t happened since I joined the team, which is the really important thing. Team success is much more important than player so it’s nice to see the team on the upswing.

How did my season, and the season for the New England Wolfpack go? I think only one word can come to mind about the whole thing: Yuck!

Finishing 12 games under .500 this season, and one goal away from being an Eastern Conference worst in Goals Allowed (Thank you, Baltimore), the Pack got slaughtered on the ice more often than they did the hunting. It hurt all aspects of our game, including our ability to score, as we were the worst in that category this past season, barely scoring 2 Goals a game. The next closest teams were Baltimore and Tampa Bay, and they each had 32 more goals than we did.

For myself, if there's such a thing as a Sophomore Slump, I had it. An atrocious -40, something my Career may never recover from, the only saving grace I can give myself in my 3rd Line role was that stayed out of the Penalty Box with 12 PIMs total, I had one more Takeaway than Giveaway this season, and that I was still able to assist on 10 Goals this season. But I have a long way to go if I want to have any longevity in SHL.

Patrick Shepherd enjoyed a mildly successful sophomore season by avoiding the dreaded sophomore slump. In his rookies season in the Simulation Hockey League Patrick only put up 3 goals, 11 assists, and was -35 overall. Over the course of the S58 he came out with 6 goals, 15 assists, and was -27. During the offseason between the two seasons, Patrick had tried to focus on the offensive side of his game to try and help out the Baltimore Platoon's scoring depth and it really showed this season with increased numbers across the board. Patrick is primarily a defensive specialist center and being able to provide more points for his team during this surprising playoff bound season 58 for Baltimore was a big help. Outside of working on his offensive game he also tried to get into a more physical mindset over the off season. In Season 57 Patrick only had 8 hits over the entire season. In Season 58 he put up 55 total hits showing and nearly doubled the number of Takeaways he had from the previous season. So while Patrick is still a defense first style center, he had a pretty successful sophomore season that saw his numbers across the board rise and showed that he can hopefully be a major piece in the Platoons future even as a depth role player.

an infographic about how s47 players did this season in relation to the league potential. maybe next time I'll do standard deviation because smyth's 1000 shot blocks + hits really watered down the rest of the league's spider charts.

Coming into the season Blanchet's expectations for himself were pretty high. Last season he managed to put up 31 points in 66 games on the Raptors second line as a rookie. Coming into this season he was looking to improve upon that, and he did so, but only by one point, finishing with 10 goals, 22 assists in 66 games. While there wasn't a significant offensive improvement this season, Blanchet did become an excellent two player and became someone the Raptors could lean on in all situations. Finishing with 74 hits, 37 shots blocked, a FO% over 50% and a defensive game rating of 68, Blanchet was one of the top two way forwards on his team. He also showed a willingness to shoot more this season despite being a pass first player, with 131 shots on the season. While the Raptors didn't land at the top of the standings this season, they find themselves heading into round 2 of the playoffs tonight against a strong Quebec City team that they hope to overthrow.

It was an excellent middle of the season for eko van otter. There was a stretch in the middle of the season where i had a 4 goal game, a 4 goal game, and a 3 goal game. That's almost a third of my total season goals in just 3 games, and it was an incredibly exciting stretch. at that point, i seemed like i'd actually have a good chance at contending for MVP. I was top 5 in points for a few sims but then in the very last week of the season i scored like 2 points in 10+ games and totally lost my shot. disappointing but alas! I should have a decent shot at the Dar award again, perhaps not quite as strong a case as last season but among contenders I have the second most takeaways, the most points, and the best corsi rel% - Dar is a notoriously difficult award for the committee to decide but I'm thinking/hoping i'll at least grab a nom if not the award itself.

My second season in the SHL definitely didn't go as well as I would have liked. We were coming in with lots of expectations as the defending champions, but our brutal division got even stronger with Toronto on the rise. We still had a pretty decent season collectively, but fell short of the playoffs due to the format that begs some questions. Individually, I dropped a bit in the points and +/- columns, and my giveaways to takeaways ratio wasn't very good. I at least managed to be more disciplined and go from 20 PIM last season to 8 PIM this time. I also blocked a few more shots and a few more hits too, so that's good. I started getting some powerplay time, which came as a total surprise, but I didn't hate it, I even scored a few of my points playing with a man advantage. Overall, it was a whelming season individually, but the conclusion of our season as a group was disappointing even if the result was satisfying.

I would call both my individual season and the team's season a success. Or at least "surprisingly good". Individually I didn't have a lot of expectations. I knew that it will be a rough season for the team, and given the status of rebuilt, there will probably be a pretty big role for my player. Playing 23ish minutes per night as a 1000 TPE player on a bottom-2 team isn't exactly a recipe for individual success. -41 is an ugly number, but on the bright side, I was also able to put up solid offensive numbers for a rookie. 17 goals and 20 assists is quite nice, and should be noted, that 33 out of the 37 points came on even strength. 14,91 % shooting percentage probably isn't sustainable for me, so the goal total is likely a few above expected. But I'll take it. SFP's regular season was actually better than I expected, and making Toronto really do some work to get through in the playoffs was icing on the cake.

Phineas had a pretty similar season to the last one where he put up some serious points and almost managed to get the PPG. To date, Phineas has not broken PPG once by the end of the season and so it has been a major barrier for him. I keep waiting for him to blow up and have an amazing 80 point season, but it looks like he just wont make it. Next season will be his last before regression and he should hit 2k tpe. I also hoped to blow up in fantasy and ended up floundering mid season as I was unable to generate heat for my team. Manhattan typically struggles in the early mid game for some reason. The plan is for next season to be extremely good at getting the puck into the back of the net. Beware the Gold rush as Phineas will be even deadlier on the power play and hopefully can get in some serious even strength points.

This year I only put up 46 points not what I was expecting but the team did much better than anticipated and moving foreward we are playoff bound next season no questions asked. While I had a so.ehwat down year others on the team flourished tom fiddler and zoltan had monster years and I hope to join them next season when we get to the playoffs. This year is finnaly hittin g its stride and soon the haters will understand once we start beating on that championship door. I expect amabacus cuddles to be magnificent next along with the rest if the d core. Gonna be scary here when we hit our peak so I'm expecting some monster numbers from myself next season as the squad will be hugely improved. Almost forgot to mention no one regresses next year so these numbers should keep climbing heres to a really bright future in the city by the bay.
