In this deep dive we'll be taking a look at the strong early preseason showing from Maine Timber. In their fierce preseason opening, Maine is leading the charge with a resounding 4-0 lead after just a couple days into the preseason. Now lets a take a more in-depth look at how exactly these first few games played out for Maine.
So far we've seen Maine go head to head with Detroit and take home a W both games, each time netting three goals and only giving up one goal total in return. With Detroit currently sitting at a 2-2 early lead, Maine's victory of them is nothing to scoff at. Next we see Maine take yet another 3-0 victory against non other than Kelowna, who currently is standing 5th in the preseason with a 2-1-1 opening. In their fourth game we witnessed Maine pull out an outstanding victory of none other than Quebec City, scoring four goals against Quebec's one. With Quebec's preseason opening showing them at the bottom of the league, we should remember that Quebec ended season 58 2nd overall in the league. Although its still preseason, and early at that, we've watched Maine take a solid lead against three different competitive teams. Now lets take a deeper look into the players leading the charge on Maine's preseason roster. Making his return with the Timbers and leading the pack with an remarkable five points in four games, we have Miguel Hefeweizen. Miguel is playing center with a solid start in his preseason games. Miguel has netted himself one goal and banked in on four different assists thus far. Three of his four assists being power plays, Miguel has definitely set himself up to be a strong supporting center. Next up on the leaderboard, we have another returning player with J. J. James Jamerson Angler. Angler is showing us his versatility by taking on a RW position. Putting up a solid four points total, Angler has secured two goals and two assists for the Timbers in his preseason showing. With only three shots on goal in four games, its impressive that Angler has netted the two goals he's had giving himself a 66.7% shooting percentage. It would be interesting to see how those numbers change after more games played and we see more shots on goal. Finally, lets take a look at another returning player for Maine, defensemen Sean Gatez. We see defenseman Sean Gatez coming in as a left defenseman thus far in the preseason, and showing third on the leaderboard for the Timbers. Gatez is leading his team with shots on goal but has yet to get the puck in the net himself. That being said, Gatez has assisted on four different goals, two those being on power plays. Its clear this defensemen is showing a lot of drive and loves shooting that puck. Overall, we've all seen a strong showing from the Timbers this early preseason. They've demonstrated that they have strong players returning on their roster who seem eager to take on a leadership role for their upcoming players. If there is anything to note here, its that this will be a great team to follow in this upcoming season and will no doubt bring a competitive spirit to the league. Approved +5 TPE @Lorec |
