Finally, at long last we can get some proper branding. The branding I want to see is simple, I want a team in Scotland, and I want them to be represented by the national animal of Scotland. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife, doesn’t matter all that much to me. As long as we are represented by the MIGHTY unicorn.

I don't have an SHL team so I can't evaluate how much it'd take to get me to move teams. But the team that would definitely make me think would be a team in the US's capital of Washington DC, which is my home town. Not only does it have a great local culture and landmarks, but imagine the branding opportunities... truly "America's team". And just look at how the city has already embraced the Caps!

It would be hard to imagine at this point not being part of the Steelhawks but if an expansion team were to take me it would need to be in either Baltimore or Philly. If it was in Philly it would most definitely need to be the Gritties which is the only practical choice.

I've always said that I really like the idea of a team named "Chicago Municipal". It's very much a soccer name, but unfortunately when I submitted it for a real-life team they chose the name "Chicago House" instead.

One of my all-time favorite brandings/logos/teams I've made was in the NBA 2K series where I created the expansion team the Las Vegas Lights. I know I have a picture of it somewhere hanging around, but it was a really cool like orange and pale blue combo. If that was an expansion team, Gino would be all about hopping over there.

Everyone knows I am an Inferno until I die (and rise again like the phenix) but if I were to pick a location to play somewhere else than Atlanta, it would be in Montreal or in Quebec City. Quebec already has a junior team but playing in the French Canadian Province, one of the greatest contributor to the game of hockey, would be really fascinating and make me proud to be part of that great legacy. Fans are hardcore and fuelled by raw emotion, win or lose, but they also know how to treat hockey players when it comes to hospitality.

The location won't matter for me but I would be instantly drawn to any team with the name Chupacabras. I have no idea why but it seems like a super cool branding idea that has not been explored in sports before.

The SHL is looking to bring in a new generation of fans in a new market, the large Latin America/South American Spanish speaking population. The expansion team being announced is the Mexico City Granjeros.

I think an expansion team based near Brookfield, Illinois would be an incredible team to see and would probably woo me away from my own team. Being near Brookfield, specifically within driving distance of the Brookfield Zoo, would be a tremendous opportunity so I don't think I could pass that up

I really don't think a branding would take me away from the opportunity and atmosphere that Nicolae Antonescu is enjoying with the Pride, but If pressed, a fabled geographical rival might finally emerge from the desert with the best branding in the league.... The Phoenix Screamin' Cacti!
Thank you to Ham and Sulo for the sigs!

Atlanta is one of the most culturally rich cities in America, and I was somewhat surprised to hear that it only recently found representation in the league through expansion. Though I usually like to keep my expansion ideas fun, interesting, and international, I'm also a huge Philadelphia sports homer and I was surprised to see that Philadelphia also doesn't have any representation in the league. Philadelphia is and has always been the heart of American culture, and I think it would be super cool to play on a Philly team at some point in my sim sports career. The city is very rich historically, but the 76ers already have the direct historical reference on lock for the city, so I wanted to go with something a bit more abstract on that same theme. This lead me to thinking of one of the cities most important historical citizens: Benjamin Franklin.
With that in mind I propose that the next team in the Simulation Hockey league find it's home in the City of Brotherly love. Introducing: The Philadelphia Lightning. The Lightning reference founding father Benjamin Franklin's storied experiment with a key flying in a storm on a kite and catching the power of electricity from the sky. The team features a stunning electric green and lightning blue color scheme, with slick, lightning themed kits on the ice. Go Lightning! #ZapZap

Well, I have no interest in leaving Newfoundland or Winnipeg, but I feel forced to make a selection based solely on branding. That being said, I am not a huge fan of any of the SHL logos, but I dislike the overall look of Toronto's logo the least. In the J, I feel that Quebec City has some strong branding.
I specifically am stopping here so that I am not accused of trying to influence the grader for an extra point.

I think there's one expansion team that a lot of people, myself included, have been itching to join for some time now, and that team is the Philadelphia PHs. What does PH stand for? It stands for whatever you want it to stand for! Now, players from the team can even post "PH" for their activity checks!

I've talked about this a few times before, but I absolutely would ask to be traded to a team with a Las Vegas Venom branding. It's one that I've been wanting to use for an expansion team, but I just don't have the time or patience to GM right now so haven't used it. It would be neon purple and a neon forest green, with black and red highlights. The logo would be dice with an LV on one side, a spider on another, and a snake head on the third visible side of each dice. It would also have the Vegas skyline or at least neon lights incorporated somehow as well. I'm excited to some day make it come to life.

I don't think it's of any surprise of what I'll say, but perhaps the SHL folks don't know it that much. But I'm infatuated with the city of Pittsburgh. In the VHL, I'm always calling for an expansion to Pittsburgh, and in the EFL - rebranding my current team to something involving Pittsburgh. Therefore, I hope that this expansion can result in some team in Pittsburgh, and I'll happily wave goodbye to Buffalo and head over there. Nothing personal of course, but Pittsburgh teams just give me that surge of happiness that other teams simply cannot give me, through no fault of their own. Or perhaps it is their fault - for not being in Pittsburgh!
