S59 PT #1 Preseason

My prediction for the upcoming season is that my player will double his point total from last season. That feels like a pretty reasonable goal given the way that the season has started as well as my obvious improvement in TPE as well. If I can maintain the current pace that I’m at, I should be able to more than double my point totals from last season. Obviously we’re only about a quarter of the way through the year at this point, which means that there is plenty of time for things to come off the rails and go badlyZ it remains to be seen how the remainder of the season will go, but I’m cautiously optimistic at this point in the year. It will take a lot of continuing work and the growth of our young players to support the rest of us, but I believe in the team around me and us being able to succeed.

Well, I guess you could say that KEKW Kekkonen won't be taking any steps forward this season if the pre-season is anything to go by. The 2nd year Finn only posted a single goal and assist in 7 pre-season matches, along with a -3 rating, 2 penalty minutes, 13 shots on goal, 4 giveaways, 0 takeaways, and 4 blocked shots. Extrapolated over the course of a full season, Kekkonen would be hard pressed to break double digit goals or assists. His possession metrics would rank among the worst in the league with 30+ giveaways and not a single takeaway. Of course, 7 games is an incredibly small sample size and it's highly unlikely that Kekkonen wouldn't start to find his groove and develop chemistry with linemates as the season progresses. While the preseason doesn't paint a pretty picture for KEKW Kekkonen and the Colorado Raptors, I have full confidence in better results during the regular season.

For me preseason doesn't matter at all, if I play good or if I play bad I take it with grain of salt. To me the preseason is all about figuring tactics which is all GM stuff. Plus it's pretty well known that most managers don't use their preferred lines and tactics. What it can show is how well a line gels together whether that be on 5v5 or on the special teams units. Honestly I couldn't even tell you what my stats were this season I'm just assuming it was good. I have no idea what our record was either but considering our division is a shit show this year I can't imagine it was that good. But if your player just got called up it is an exciting time just remember that the preseason is the preseason and regular season is the real deal.

The preseason is quite a short sample size, but we can still try to make some projections. I think Atlanta overperformed, sadly, I don't think we'll be able to do this well this season. In the rest of the Atlantic, I feel like Baltimore has also overperformed, Manhattan is about on par, Tampa is underperforming and New England is on par, by what I think seems right, I'm not a big analyst or whatever, it's really just what I think. As for the leaders in points, there's way too many Atlanta players at the top. The top should have way more Great Lakes players for very obvious reasons. The Great Lakes and Texas will probably be leading, so I would expect more of their players at the top of the points. As for myself, I had about normal stats, maybe not as defensive as I should be though. I think I can get way more than about 2 hits and blocked shots per game on average.

Based on the SMJHL standings from the preseason, many takeaways can be made heading into a hotly contested season 59. The most obvious thing of note is how drastically the loss of callups has affected the reigning champion Quebec City Cittadelles, who managed only one victory throughout the seven-game preseason. Their shoes look to be filled by both of their division rivals, Maine and Newfoundland, with the former winning all seven of their preseason games and the latter conquering their opponent five times in the preseason. Elsewhere around the league, Carolina looks poised to have a competitive season after winning six of seven, with Anchorage looking to continue their S50s dynasty with 5 wins to their name. With Quebec City at the bottom are the Colorado Raptors and Anaheim Outlaws who each only managed to win one of their seven preseason games.

As for individual player performances from the preseason, Ric Charlesworth from Newfoundland led the scoring race with 5 goals in 7 games. Second-year SMJHL player Corman Pornaire of the Kraken had 10 points in just seven games so keep an eye on him this season.

With the games of the preseason now relatively far behind us, we can actually apply the results using a fun little thing called math. Absolutely demolishing expectations this year, New Orleans had an incredible record of 1 win, 6 losses, and 0 overtime losses for an incredible 2 whole points and a 0.143 points percentage through the preseason, tied with the Minnesota Monarchs in dead last in the league. If we applied the Specters' win loss ratio to the full 66 game regular season, they would finish with 9 wins (under 10, by the way, you casino goers!) and an incredible 56 losses. As you can clearly see, New Orleans is clearly set to demolish the league in terms of regular season performance (that is, they're going to be worse than they were last season, even with a slightly better roster). Thankfully, there's a lot to look forward to: like a high first-round pick that can actually be used by the team it originally was owned by, and not sent to some stinky Great Lake team like Toronto, unlike their S59 first rounder.

Based on the pre-season, I'm going to have a 2x TA to GA ratio. This is completely ignoring that fact that I'm currently at a 4x GA to TA ratio.

I also had one goal in only seven games. Seven games! That means I'm going to hit some kind of personal goal scoring record by scoring more than five in one season. This is ignoring the one time I scored seven goals in the J during my back to back to back four stars.

The craziest part is that I'm going to have a personal record on lowest PIMs in one season. I had no PIMs at all in the pre-season and only two so far in the regular season. In a normal season, I'll be hanging with the cougars and flirting with the 50 mark. Sometimes I'll behave and keep it down to maybe half of that. But this season I had to take a point from bravery so we'll see the tamest Slip that has ever played in the SHL. That is of course until I bump my bravery back up against everyone's wishes.

I think Buffalo is going to miss the playoffs this season, they are in the best division in the shl and its going to be tough to make the playoffs in the great lakes, that division probably has the best 4 teams in the league and any one of them could win the challenge cup this season. I would be shocked if a team out of the great lakes win the challenge cup this season and Its going to see what good team is going to miss the playoffs this season. It sucks to see one of them make the playoffs as it would have been an interesting playoffs if so. Great to see a team like san fran would make the playoffs over a team like buffalo. Buffalo is always a good challenge in the playoffs and it would be suck to see them miss the playoffs. they went 3-2-2 which might not be good enough to make the playoffs in the great lakes.

Well i really hope that my players performance from preseason doesn't continue in to the regular season, i only got 2 points in our 6 games, so that would relate to only 22 points during the regular season, and saying that that would be disappointing would be an understatement. even now while i have 9 points in 15 games i have hoping my player picks up the pace as so far im only on pace for 40 points, and while not as bad as 22, still a big step back from the 52 points i got last season. I know as a defenseman getting a point per game is a big ask, but im just hoping that i can match my performance from last season. And the same thing goes for Texas's place in the standings, i hope we both do better than in the preseason as well as our performance so far and can win the west and maybe the presidents trophy

Based on the preseason i hope we are going to make the playoffs! I know that the great lakes division is really tight and small errors could decide wether we make it in or not but our preseason looked reallly promising! Another thing i hope for is me finishing in positive in the plus minus stat. I only had a few seasons where i finished with a positive in this stat.
Adam Barron looks like a player whom could make another big inpact so it would be nice to see him getting mvp of the season as also best defesemen of the season! It would also be cool to see Axel Meszaros get an award in his last season in the shl.
On other teams i wish to see a @honkerrs whom is successful with edmonton where he got the starting gig after getting traded by us. And i wanna see @juniped get some ice time and goon up some players! Get em boys! And still sad we had to trade you guys because of such a thing...
