The tale of expansion

![]() Registered S13, S15, S16, S25 Challenge Cup Champion What’s in expansion?
With the two newest teams set to be picked next week, let’s take a look at the past two expansion teams, the Quebec City Citadelles and the Nevada Battleborn. How did they fair? How successful were they? Let’s compare the two teams and see their approach and where they are now! Expansion draft 1. - From - Niccolo Livius - bbp (After pick NL trades S55 1st (9OA) and 2 Mil in S55 Cap Space in exchange for Niccolo Livius) ANALYSIS The Nevada Battleborn had the first overall pick in which they made a deal with the Berserkers so they would have the 9th overall pick in Season 55 (which we will go into later) as well as 2 mil in cap. Does the cap matter? I think it would be nice to give players a bonus and really have that extra cap would be good for that. It looks from the start that Nevada is wanting to really rebuild a bit and not try to go for it from day 1. This is an awesome start as they get to add a player which would end up being successful goaltender Phillip Weaver. 2. - From - Stan Q. Next - iamslm22 (Before pick KEL trades S55 2nd (24OA) in exchange for protecting 2 additional players) ANALYSIS This is another pick which ends up getting traded to Quebec City from Kelowna. They wanted to protect more players and Quebec City was happy to start building their team. Who would they take? Oh, I don’t know, someone by the name of Teylora Petrov (Bayley). I am not sure what you think about him, but I would say that this was pretty successful for the Citadelles. Would they do it again? Well, you would certainly have to ask them, but Petrov would be an active member of the team before being called up to New England. 3. - From - Sven Gunnar - Southie (Before pick ANC trade S56 3rd in exchange for protecting 1 additional player) ANALYSIS The Citadelles would make a pick in Southie who would not be a great pick, but they would add a 3rd round selection to the cupboard in which they would end up trading to Maine anyway. I think this pick was not great, but the pick they ended up with would net them additional assets. I think in the end, that’s a win even if the specific pick was not. 4. - From - Leonids Balzams - Cyanide ANALYSIS - I think the Battleborn got a steal here in Balzams who is a player currently playing for the New England Wolfpack. He has 995 TPE right now with an expected amount of 1,820. They took Balzams from the Scarecrows. I like this pick as someone who is a great in the New England locker room. This honestly may be the best pick of the expansion draft so far, not counting the trades and things. 5. - From - Zelma Zuntnere - Jogurtaa (Before pick CAR trades Moritz Muller in exchange for protecting 1 additional player) ANALYSIS Knowing that the Battleborn may go for a specific player, the Kraken decided to trade Moritz Muller to the Battleborn to be able to pick an additional player. For the Battleborn, the ability to add a body to the locker room to create that culture, it really was a no brainer. They also will add Zuntnere who is a good earner at 1,040 TPE right now and part of the Season 55 draft class. I think this was an overall success for the Kraken. 6. - From - Juan Hunna-Pussent - AdamS ANALYSIS - A familiar face would be picked next by the Citadelles. They will go with AdamS who is a known commodity in many leagues, so Evok and Flex knew exactly what they would bring to the table. This was a culture pick, and I think I like it. AdamS can add a lot of expertise and know all to the locker room. That presence can go a long way to a successful locker room. He may have not earned well, the body in the locker room was effective. 7. - From - Ryan Rieley - Brandon ANALYSIS - Brandon was awesome for the Citadelles. He played an effective role on the team as the Citadelles would have a fantastic couple seasons. Since, Rieley has fell off to being inactive, so it did not work out with the development of the player, but he was great for the Citadelles while he was around. Not a great look as he did go inactive, but overall, he did what he was supposed to do for the squad. 8. - From - Sammy "The Goon" Koa - ThatDamnWalrus ANALYSIS The Battleborn would go with Koa as their 2nd to last pick in the expansion draft. Koa would get to 265 TPE before going inactive. That is not a great pick at all as he did not even hit a cap for the SMJHL. You are just hoping for someone that can at least get to the 350 cap. Unfortunately, that was not him. He was an experienced member, so the chance to add that to the locker room was great, but it did not really work out for them. 9. - From - James Kimanje - VRTX L4S3R ANALYSIS VRTX was a great pick by the Battleborn. Currently, Kimanje plays for the Philadelphia Forge at just over 950 TPE, so he was a maxed player who would play good minutes for the Battleborn. In fact, he would play just over minutes a game during the Season 55 season for the Battleborn. He needed to come in big as he played until the Season 57 season with the Battleborn before being called up. 10. -From - Alexander Roach - Faelax ANALYSIS - We all knew that Roach would be going to the Citadelles as he is the CO-GM with Evok. There’s not much to say about this guy other than he was an absolute stud for the Citadelles. He would score 35 points in the Season 55 season in the 50 games. He obviously has a huge impact as the CO-GM. Players love to play under him and is extremely well respected in the community. There’s nothing but good things to say about FLEX. Season 55 Draft Class 1: Quebec City Citadelles - Zdenko Beranek - ztevans ANALYSIS - Season 55 started with a bang in what everyone thought would be the first pick in the draft in Zdenko Beranek or ztevans. I do not think this was a huge surprise to many people as this was the first pick from the Citadelles. The peak season came in Season 57 where Beranek had 71 points in 66 games. He led the entire league in goals with 37 and also added 34 assists for the Citadelles. During the Championship season, Beranek also had 65 points with 40 of those being assists. He was a huge asset for the Citadelles during the entire tenure that he was there. 20: Quebec City Citadelles (via NBB) - Jasper Maximov - enigmatic ANALYSIS - This was a huge draft class for the Citadelles as they brought in another huge asset to the team in Jasper Maximov. She is an offensive defenseman who again had fantastic seasons with the team, but more importantly, is a fantastic member of the locker room. Maximov was such an amazing pick at pick 20. During the Season 57 season, Maximov had 50 points, 38 of those being assists. This was a crucial season and something that would cement her time in Quebec City. I could see her going into the Hall of Fame for the Citadelles. 24: Quebec City Citadelles (via KEL) - Teylora Petrov - Panda ANALYSIS - Unlike above, Petrov will not be going into the Hall of Fame. He is most known for being called up early. I would think that this would be a huge steal for the Citadelles in this round. To see him fall to 24th was a surprise. I think this was a good pick, but I guess I am a little biased. 26: Quebec City Citadelles (via MET) - David Danielson - WildfireMicro ANALYSIS - Danielson is someone with such high hopes for the team but ended up retiring early. Wildfire is a fantastic member and was a great member of the locker room while he was in Quebec City, however, Danielson did not last in the league. He played in Season 55 having a 11-19-1 record with a 3.91 GAA. There were high hopes for Danielson, but Wildfire would go on to making another player to try to reverse what happened with Danielson! 43: Quebec City Citadelles - Max Goodman - Smiley ANALYSIS - Max Goodman looked to be a huge steal as Smiley was a great member of the locker room. Quickly after the Season 55 season where he played 50 games and amounted 14 points, he would go inactive. It was a shame because he added a lot to the locker room and really was a pleasure to be around. This was a shame, but this pick did not really amount to anything. 45: Quebec City Citadelles (via ANA) - Boris Petrov - LimJahey ANALYSIS - Who wanted to mess with this guy? Boris is known as one of the toughest player in the SHL. In Season 55, he had 211 penalty minutes. He just wanted to fight, that is it. I mean, did he have a role on the team? He definitely had a great role on the team as an enforcer, and he did it well. I think this was an effective pick in the fact that you got exactly what you expected from him. He would play all the way until Season 59, so Quebec City got their money worth for Petrov. 47: Quebec City Citadelles (via NLB) - Bobov Petrov - indonesianhusker ANALYSIS - One player that the Citadelles did not get too much money worth was Bobov Petrov. Due to real life things, Bobov ended up going inactive. There was a ton of hope for him, but it did not amount. He would play in Season 55 where he ended up getting 10 points in his 38 games that he played. It was not an effective pick, but Quebec City was just looking to build a team, something that they did with Bobov. 49: Quebec City Citadelles (via DET, via VAN) - Julian Cunningham - tinkthegreat ANALYSIS - Cunningham would be the next pick for the Citadelles. He would only play one season for the team, amounting 13 points in the 50 games. It was not an effective tenure for the team as he would shortly after go inactive. I think you are just hoping to net a steal or someone who amounts to filing minutes or even getting to cap. It did not really happen with Cunningham, but with the amount of picks that Quebec City had, I am not sure it was too much of a loss. 50: Quebec City Citadelles (via MET) - Zach Dolphin - Dolph96 ANALYSIS - Zach Dolphin would play until the end of the Season 56 season with the Citadelles where he had 16 points during his 50 games. Yet again, the Citadelles kinda struck out with this pick. They did get 2 seasons out of him which is not bad as they try to build up their team, but there are some good picks coming, don’t worry, I don’t want to sound like a broken record. 55: Quebec City Citadelles - Tres Sombreros - Al Gringo ANALYSIS - Tres Sombreros really had their breakout season for the Citadelles in Season 59 where they had 51 points in 66 games for the team including 19 goals. Right now, he is looking at 582 TPE, a slower earning player, but is a really great person in the locker room. I think this was a super steal for Quebec City. This is exactly what you want from a later pick, so consider this successful for sure. 62: Quebec City Citadelles (via MET) - Jst Maro - jstmaro ANALYSIS - Yet another huge steal was Maro. Currently, Maro has 833 TPE, so he ended up getting exactly what Quebec wanted from him. He would play a huge part on the team and even hit the SMJHL cap. In Season 58, Maro had 53 points, 40 of those being assists and a +22. He played over 18:30 a game for Quebec during that season. So, they get a big-time performer who had great seasons with the team. When you look at the 62nd overall pick, this is MORE than what you should expect. This is a huge win. Massive win. 67: Quebec City Citadelles - Bennett Hawtin - BNutty ANALYSIS - This guy would end up going inactive. He did not play a single game in the Quebec City uniform. There is not much to say here. 74: Quebec City Citadelles (via MET) - Alfonso Fettuccine - tyKilla ANALYSIS - This guy would end up going inactive. He did not play a single game in the Quebec City uniform. There is not much to say here. 79: Quebec City Citadelles - Kev Kevens - KEven ANALYSIS - Kevens would play until the end of Season 58 for the Citadelles. I think Season 58 really showed exactly what you would expect from the player. He had a total of 41 points in 66 games as the left wing for the team. Currently, Kevens is a super active player for the San Francisco Pride in the SHL. He has 1,124 TPE, so this is another super successful pick. This is exactly what you want. Props to Evok and Flex to find this absolute steal. 91: Quebec City Citadelles - Jonas Caspari - jakey.peach ANALYSIS - Caspari would be part of a trade later on that I will discuss, but this is another steal that got another big player for a playoff run for the Citadelles. He currently plays for the Berserkers in Season 59 where he scored 4 goals and had 15 assists for a total of 19 points. So, to get this guy and net someone to help you with a playoff run. I think this is successful. 103: Quebec City Citadelles - Yuuto Kira Cloudera Jr - kentakira ANALYSIS - This is the biggest steal of all steals. Like, really though, how did he fall all the way to 103. Cloudera is currently signed to Toronto in the SHL where he has 659 TPE. He was a super steal as a lot of players earlier in the class do not even have a team currently. I think this is the best value pick in someone that made an impact with the team. What a great pick, I am not sure what else to say about this. 4: Nevada Battleborn - Vili Afalava - Wasty ANALYSIS - Vili Tuga’tūga’bo’atu is what he goes by now. It took me a while to try to find this player only to see he changed his name. Well, Wasty was really good for Nevada. Since, he has accounted for 828 TPE which is 38th in the entire class for Season 56. Tuga played for the Battleborn until the end of the Season 58 season. So, they definitely got everything they wanted from this pick. At the next level, he was not really what everyone thought he was going to be. So, it was successful for Nevada, but not really successful for the SHL level. 9: Nevada Battleborn (via NLB) - Phillip Weaver - W19eaver ANALYSIS - This was a pick that Nevada got from the expansion draft. Honestly, what a pick. Everyone know that this guy was going to be good, and he absolutely did not let anyone down. He ended up playing until the end of the Season 57 season with the Battleborn before going up to the SHL. In his final season, he was 22-21-5 with a 2.69 GAA and a .911 Save percentage. When you look at it, that was a fantastic pick that really did everything he could for the Battleborn. That deal was warranted and they got the goalie they needed. 19: Nevada Battleborn (via QCC) - Tanjiro Kamado - Andy ANALYSIS - This was an absolute steal for the Battleborn. Currently, Kamado is 8th in the S56 Class in TPE with just under 1,200. So, they got everything they wanted from this guy. Like a few of his teammates, he would play until the end of the Season 57 season in the SMJHL before getting the call up to the SHL level. In his final season in the SMJHL, he accounted for 30 points, 23 of those being assists. This guy was a great pick for the Battleborn as he got to the cap and was a fantastic example for the others in the locker room. 32: Nevada Battleborn - Alexis Vermette - Treant ANALYSIS - Season 58 was a rough season for the Battleborn as they had a lot of their key players being called up to the big clubs. Vermette was another one of those players. However, he was a great pick in the fact that he got to the cap and was a great earner while he was in the SMJHL. He also did play a pretty big role during that Season 57 seasons by the tune of 27 points in 66 games while playing over 15 minutes per game. Unfortunately, he would end up going inactive at 914 TPE, so was not great at the SHL level, but was more than what Nevada wanted at the SMJHL level with the 32nd pick. 44: Nevada Battleborn - Sachimo Zoidberg III - jala ANALYSIS - ANOTHER STEAL! Zoidberg has 1,166 TPE today, so there was a great sense of steal considering he was taken with the 44th pick in the draft. Does anyone want to guess what season that he played his last in the SMJHL? If you guessed Season 57, you would be correct. Zoidberg played over 18 minutes a night for the Battleborn in Season 57. He had 13 points which is not a ton, but played a bigger role on the team. This is all you want from the 44th pick. He is very active and continuing to earn. 54: Nevada Battleborn (via NLB, via STL) - Bane - Winter is coming ANALYSIS - Let’s look at the last full season that Bane played in the SMJHL. In Season 59, Bane had 20 points in his 66 games. He played over 19 minutes a night during that season as well. So, of course, he played a huge part on the team. This was a questionable pick by a lot of standards. People were definitely hesitant to take him, but I think it all worked out. I think it was definitely worth the risk. I think he did everything he needed to do as well as stayed down in the minors long enough that it absolutely made a difference. 56: Nevada Battleborn - Grandmaster Funk - GMFunk ANALYSIS - Funk may have been the biggest jumper in the SHL Draft as he was one of the first Defensemen off the board. Now, he would end up getting traded to Kelowna in a trade that I will outline below, but he was an absolute steal. He did end up getting to the SMJHL cap at 484 TPE before going inactive. So, for the SMJHL level, this was a huge steal. However, of course, at the SHL level, this was a bust pick. To get a guy that gets to cap this late in the draft has to be considered a successful pick. S56 DRAFT CLASS 5: Quebec City Citadelles - Jari Heikkinen ANALYSIS - With the 5th pick, the Citadelles went with defenseman Jari Heikkinen. Allegiant is a really well known member. He was taken as high as he probably should have. Was it a good pick? Well, in the locker room, he got the SMJHL cap, so it would be considered successful from SMJHL standards. Now, in the SHL, he is currently at 713 TPE which is 21st in his class. That is not great at the SHL level, but the Citadelles got what they expected from him. He would play a full season in Season 59 for the Citadelles, racking up 34 points in the 66 games. He had 27 assists. 2: Nevada Battleborn - Rob Wright ANALYSIS - Rob Wright would go 2nd in the draft to Nevada. Currently, he sits 7th in his class in TPE with just over 1,000! This was a great pick by Nevada. I love this pick as someone who can add a lot to the locker room as well as an active member of the team. He would play his final season in Season 59 for the Battleborn where he had 23 points in the 66 games. I would say this was a pick that the Battleborn had to get correct and they absolutely did. Great pick and great user. 13: Nevada Battleborn - Jarmo Kekäläinen ANALYSIS - Jarmo would end up getting traded to Colorado in a trade that we will talk about below again. In the Season 59 season for the Raptors, Kekalainen had 46 points in the 66 games and was an active member of the Raptors. I think this was a deal that Nevada probably had to make, but this was a great pick at this spot. He was picked by the Patriotes in the expansion draft and plays there today! 24: Nevada Battleborn (via via ) - Rude Sniff ANALYSIS - Rude Sniff is no longer active in the SHL, however, he was exactly what the Battleborn wanted from this pick. He ended up having 623 TPE and still plays in the SMJHL for the Battleborn. So, when you think about a pick, you get a max defenseman for multiple seasons with the 24th pick. I would say that this has to be considered a successful pick. He may not be successful when it looks at the SHL level, but at the SMJHL level, it would be silly not to consider this anything but successful. 29: Nevada Battleborn (via ) - Noah Johns III ANALYSIS - Noah Johns is someone who played a big role for the Battleborn in Season 59 having 33 points in the 66 games while playing just over 13 minutes per night. Now, that would not be too much more than that as he is not even on the TPE tracker anymore which is not a good sign at all. So, is this a successful pick? I mean, they got a lot of years from Johns and some minutes, but did not get to the SHL level which is unsuccessful in terms of being a GM or a GM pick, but successful in the fact that he played a lot of time. S57 DRAFT CLASS 21: Quebec City Citadels (Via CAR, via STL, via NLB) - Mew Two ANALYSIS - I absolutely adore this pick by the Citadelles. Zeagle is a well known player in so many other leagues, so to get him at 21st overall is a huge win. Now, he currently still plays for the Citadelles with 814 TPE, which sits him at 12th in the class. This is considered a huge steal as he is really near the top of his class. It is expected that he even gets over 2,000 TPE on his career. You have to consider this a successful pick. 28: Quebec City Citadelles - Brian Davenport ANALYSIS - This is another successful pick as he is an active player still for the Citadelles as he has 660 TPE currently. That will put him 28th in his class with is exactly the number where he was taken in the draft. It is super weird how that happens, but they got a capped player that can play a lot of minutes for their team and be a great member of the locker room. I would say a very successful find and a successful pick. 40: Quebec City Citadelles - Bjørn Jakobsen ANALYSIS - Sidd is another user that is known in so many other leagues. For some reason, he fell to 40th in the SMJHL Draft while being 14th in his class in TPE. He is still active with 809 TPE, so this was a fantastic pick. We all know what Sidd can bring to a locker room given the fact that he is a General Manager in the ISFL, he can be a great use to make young players. To get a guy like this at 40th overall is a huge steal. This was a great pick by Evok and Flex. 64: Quebec City Citadelles - Tyler Cannon ANALYSIS - This guy has 155 TPE, he fills a hole at backup goaltender, I suppose. There really is not much to mention here. He is not going to be a success, so i won’t even spend more time looking into this more. 44: Nevada Battleborn (Via QCC, via NBB) - Vladlen Sidorov ANALYSIS - The first pick for the Battleborn due to trades came in the 4th round where they would take Sidorov. Sidorov is still active with 293 TPE, so not exactly a successful pick as he’s a slow earner. I am not sure what he is in the locker room, but hard to look at this to being successful. I hope they have better picks with their later ones where they are really just trying to grasp for straws at this point. 56: Nevada Battleborn - Luke Sparks ANALYSIS - I really do not have much to say about their remaining picks as they would not make it to the SMJHL level. 68: Nevada Battleborn - Christopher Raymond II ANALYSIS - I really do not have much to say about their remaining picks as they would not make it to the SMJHL level. 80: Nevada Battleborn - Mop Top ANALYSIS - I really do not have much to say about their remaining picks as they would not make it to the SMJHL level. 92: Nevada Battleborn - Theo McFleury ANALYSIS - I really do not have much to say about their remaining picks as they would not make it to the SMJHL level. S58 DRAFT CLASS 10: Quebec City Citadelles - LB3737 - Shane Duffy Jr. ANALYSIS - With the 10th pick, the Citadelles would end up taking another member from the ISFL in LB3737. He currently sits 29th in his class with 555 TPE. He obviously is great in the locker room, and has hit the SMJHL cap, so he can be a huge member of the class and of the team, but is not a great earner when you look at the rest of his class. There are definitely other players that the Citadelles could have taken, but it also is considered successful in the fact that it is an active pick that is at max for the SMJHL. 17: Quebec City Citadelles (via NBB) - xTri - Kappa Kappa ANALYSIS - Kappa Kappa would fall to 17th in the draft and actually has earned more TPE than his teammate Duffy that was taken 7 picks before. Kappa has 572 TPE, 17 more than his teammate. Another member known from the ISFL, xTri is a great locker room presence to help the Citadelles create and continue that culture. I think you get a lot from this guy that go beyond the TPE, so I like this pick a lot. 60: Quebec City Citadelles - HabsFan6776 - Big Boss ANALYSIS - WOW, with the 60th pick, the Citadelles take Big Boss who currently has 441 TPE, so over that TPE cap. Now, obviously, he is not a huge earner as he is 42nd in the class, but he got to the cap, so considering that you got the last pick in the 5th round to update to the cap and get a player that is of max use is really great. 3 picks later was passed by the Kraken, so huge find by the Citadelles here. 29: Nevada Battleborn - Pickleb0b - Owen Bowden ANALYSIS - With the first pick in the draft, the Battleborn end up taking Owen Bowden who is currently not employed by any team in the SMJHL. Obviously, this is not a successful pick looking at what the Citadelles did with their picks. I am not sure I need to go into more details on that. This was a bust. 41: Nevada Battleborn - frijolhead - Erik Andrews ANALYSIS - Erik Andrews would end up being traded, but for now, this was a great pick. Currently, Andrews is 50th in the class in TPE with 420 which is fine because it gets over that cap to become a super effective player for the team. Again, they would end up trading this player to the Berserkers, so they did not see the end of the road, but this was a great pick as it did net another asset for the team. 53: Nevada Battleborn - Gifter of Bikes - Eero Makela ANALYSIS - I love this pick. I absolutely love this pick, they end up taking Finnish born Eero Makela who is 31st in the class in TPE and currently still playing for the Battleborn. He has 552 TPE currently which is amazing. He likely will play another season or two with the team as well being an active player. So, this has to be a huge steal. I like this pick potentially the most in this entire draft when you look at the value they got with the 53rd pick. S59 DRAFT CLASS 3: Quebec City Citadelles (via STL) - Greyson Cooper ANALYSIS - This was a no brainer pick for the Citadelles really. Oilers is a fantastic user with a track record of being a hell of an earner in every league that she is in. So, this was an absolute no brainer to go ahead and take Cooper here. So far, Cooper has absolutely lived up to the record. They are 7th in the class with 445 TPE, but only 21 TPE back of the top spot. So, there is so much time for her to be the top earner. I love this pick, this was an easy pick to make, something that was a no brainer and a big pick. 12: Quebec City Citadelles - Ryan Gardner ANALYSIS - Gardner is a little bit of a slower earner as they fell to 28th in the class. They are currently 11th in defenseman as well, so if the Citadelles even wanted a defenseman, there were others on the board. They did get over the 350 cap and are supposed to hit just under 2,000 in their career, so it could be considered successful. It is tough to tell at this point. 21: Quebec City Citadelles (via DET) - Alfred Yankovic ANALYSIS - Katarn is a known user from the ISFL, so to get katarn here was a great steal. Currently, Weird Al is 26th in the class in TPE, so I would say that it is a good value pick. You know exactly what you are getting from katarn. They are great in the locker room and an active member of the community. They currently have 402 TPE, so value wise, it was a great pick. You know what you are getting and it’s exactly what you are getting. 23: Quebec City Citadelles - Hail Bingus ANALYSIS - Teyon is another member known in the ISFL as they are slowly earning. Currently, they are at 315 TPE. They are still active as well as they are 45th in the class. Teyon has a track record of being super successful in other leagues, but it looks like SHL will be second to those other leagues. I think if you can just get him to 350 TPE, that would be successful. Now, there were absolutely other people that could and should have been picked with the 23rd pick. However, I like Teyon a lot, so maybe they were looking to go more locker room presence. 35: Quebec City Citadelles - Darrell Niskala ANALYSIS - There is no record of Niskala playing any games in the SMJHL, so there is not much to say here. 47: Quebec City Citadelles - Kerbal Rais ANALYSIS - Rais would play 50 games in the Season 59 season, putting up 12 points during those games. Now, there really is nothing to say as they are not on the TPE tracker so they are not even on a team currently. I don’t think this is a good pick, but this late, you are really just taking gambles. 59: Quebec City Citadelles - Andrew Jackson ANALYSIS - There is no record of Jackson playing any games in the SMJHL, so there is not much to say here. 60: Quebec City Citadelles (via KEL) - Kevin Newman ANALYSIS - Newman would play 1 game in the Season 59 season and have a 2.32 GAA. There is not much to really say about this player. 4: Nevada Battleborn (via ANA) - Maxwell Carrigan ANALYSIS - The Battleborn would go ahead and take Maxwell Carrigan with the 4th overall pick. When you look at the TPE tracker, he is 4th in the draft class in TPE, only 16 TPE back of the top spot. So, you have to really love this pick. They got everything that they wanted from this pick and more. He is the best earning defenseman in the Season 60 draft, so they got a great pick here. 19: Nevada Battleborn - Jimmy Larkin-Conway ANALYSIS - Grapehead would be taken with the 19th pick and currently is 29th in the draft class in TPE. He still plays for Nevada which pretty much the entirety of this draft class still does. I think he is a known commodity with success in the past, so this was a great pick. There were a lot of others that could have been picked, but this guy was probably the most known commodity. 27: Nevada Battleborn (via ANA, via DET, via ANA) - Anton Harrier ANALYSIS - Harrier is 9 TPE shy of 350, so at the halfway point, they are looking at someone who just may get that cap. Currently, he is 39th in the class in TPE. So, they are a bit of a slower earner, but that is perfectly fine! They will get a max player with the 27th pick, so in 3 picks so far in the draft, Nevada will end up with 3 capped players. That is super successful, I would say. 36: Nevada Battleborn (via KEL) - Harley Fank ANALYSIS - Fank currently has 155 TPE. Is there anything more I need to say about this? They could have needed a goalie, but getting a guy who has not earned anything is not good. This has to be characterized as a bust. 41: Nevada Battleborn (via VAN) - Léon Doucét ANALYSIS - Leon would play the Season 59 season, but not play another minute on the ice in a Battleborn jersey. So, this is another pick that is not considered a success for that reason. They had a decent season in Season 59, but that is it. 43: Nevada Battleborn - Wet Jeans ANALYSIS - WELL! Here we go, a guy who is at 371 TPE, 34th in the class. So, this was a fantastic pick as a forward who can make a big impact. Jeans currently plays for Detroit, however, but in terms of value pick, I would say that this was a great pick. Jeans plays about 14 minutes a game currently in Season 60. SEASON 60 DRAFT CLASS 1: Quebec City Citadelles (via STL) - Konstantin Selich ANALYSIS - You knew that Quebec City wanted to move up and get Selich. There is that Buffalo connection and he has not let the Citadelles down at all. This has been a super successful pick and one that the Ciatdelles would probably do all over again. Selich is 15th in the class in TPE, so not great in terms of that, but in terms of sentimental value, of course it makes sense for the Citadelles. 19: Quebec City Citadelles - Samuel Kjellsson ANALYSIS - Tanner is a member of the SHL for a long time. Evok, being a member for a decent amount of time, would probably know Tanner from his previous time here. I think this is a great value pick. Tanner is currently 23rd in the class in TPE with 241 TPE. I think it’s pretty spot on to where he was drafted. So, it’s a good value pick. 41: Quebec City Citadelles (via ANC) - Austin MacWard ANALYSIS - AnthonyOullet is known in the SBA as a great earner and former GM. So, to get him at the 41st pick was a great value pick. Currently, AO is at 240 TPE, 26th in the class in TPE. I think he will take a huge jump to the SHL Draft as everyone sees what he can bring to the league. This was a great find by Evok and company without being known from any sister league to the SHL. 43: Quebec City Citadelles - Mattias Zetterstrom ANALYSIS - Zetterstorm has currently played 31 games for the Citadelles amounting to 6 points. He also plays just over 16 minutes a night for the team. I think he plays a lot of great minutes, so this could have been a decent find to spend minutes. They are currently at 155 TPE and inactive since 6/22. So, good to spend minutes, but not good to update. 50: Quebec City Citadelles (via STL) - Porg Garros ANALYSIS - PORG! TVC is one of my favorite members, so I love this pick. This was a fantastic value pick considering that Porg is at 211 TPE. He is 59th in the class, but as a member, he is worth so much more than that. I like this pick a lot for the Citadelles even though the TPE may say otherwise. 55: Quebec City Citadelles - Pudge Gortz ANALYSIS - Pudge is not currently on the roster for the Quebec City Citadelles, so what do you want me to say about this? 67: Quebec City Citadelles - Alex DeBeste ANALYSIS - DeBeste is not currently on the roster for the Quebec City Citadelles, so what do you want me to say about this? 2: Nevada Battleborn - Melvin Majestik-Moose ANALYSIS - SCHWAR! This is one of my favorite users in the existence of sim leagues, so this is always going to be a great pick. Moose is tied for 1st in the draft class in TPE right now with 268 TPE. What else do you want me to say about this pick? This is an amazing pick, they are spot on with her. She is an amazing human and a great user to have in your locker room. 6: Nevada Battleborn (via MET) - Willie Miller ANALYSIS - The Battleborn wanted a goalie, so they went and got Willie Miller. Sebster is right behind Moose in earning 258 TPE. So, this is another great pick. I love this draft for the Battleborn already. These two will be a huge part of the building of this team for the future. I love what they have right now. 13: Nevada Battleborn - Doug Glatt ANALYSIS - Yet again, another stud as they take ConnorM who is a known commodity in the sim league community. Gosh, the Battleborn needed to crush this draft and they absolutely did that. They have gone 3/3 so far in the draft, bringing in the 13th TPE earner in the class with the 13th pick. Connor will be able to bring something to the team in a nice first pairing with Moose for the future. 27: Nevada Battleborn (via NLB, via VAN) - Wing Wang ANALYSIS - Wing Wang is someone who has earned 231 TPE so far, 39th in the class. Plat is someone known from the ISFL, so they are just hoping that he earns well like he does there. There are always ways to find him which is a benefit to taking someone like him. He surely will get to the SMJHL cap, so to get him at 27 looks to be a good steal. He’s slow earning right now, but I am not sure I would worry about it. 33: Nevada Battleborn (via DET) - Peanut Butter ANALYSIS - Sly is another one who is earning a little slower with only 68 TPE earned so far. But, considering everything, this may not be a terrible pick as long as you can get him back active. He has not been seen in 3 days, so Nevada hopes that he will be checking back in and continuing his time updating. It’s a decent add if you can get him back to activity. 37: Nevada Battleborn - Ahlo Kysoka ANALYSIS - I love when this works out. Kysoka is currently 37th in the class with the 37th pick. I think this is such a solid pick considering that Lazyeye has also been doing point tasks. He has earned 77 TPE so far and hopefully will continue doing that. The more I write about this draft for the Battleborn, the more I love it. 45: Nevada Battleborn (via DET) - Sam Siege ANALYSIS - Siege may be the first one that did not necessarily work out. He has only had 26 TPE earned so far which is 73rd in the class. He has not logged in for 3 days, so there is still hope that he will continue to earn. I am curious what happens with this user in about 3 weeks. 51: Nevada Battleborn (via VAN) - Jalal ad-Din Afinogenov ANALYSIS - Afino has earned 68 TPE so far and is 48th in the class. So, it looks like a really big value pick getting him with the 51st pick in the draft. Rory is a little low on money, so they will definitely need to do a lot of media or graphics to keep up with the training. This may hold him back a little bit, but I think if they can earn a bunch, they could be a solid pick. 61: Nevada Battleborn - Jake Suthermer ANALYSIS - This guy has earned 155 TPE and has not been seen since 6/27. That is not a great sign. Hopefully they come back to activity! 73: Nevada Battleborn - Milo Oliver ANALYSIS - Milo Oliver is not on the roster currently, so there is nothing to say about this player at all. NOTABLE TRADES: To Newfoundland Erik Andrews To Nevada S60 VAN 3rd (27oa) S61 NL 4th S61 NL 5th ANALYSIS - Erik Andrews was a player who was helping Nevada, but in Season 60, Nevada needed to look at future plans. In 30 games so far, Andrews has 10 points during those games. Nevada is looking at a 3-25-1 season, so knowing that Andrews will be going up to the SHL before they are ready to compete, they needed to move him to someone that could use him earlier. They ended up getting 27th overall and future picks for the star defenseman. That pick turned into Wing Wang who has 231 TPE and is an active forward. Currently, Plat is 39th in earning for his class, so I’d say it was a win-win for both teams. ===================================================== To Nevada S60 MET 1st-round pick (6th overall) To Maine S60 NBB 3rd-round pick (25th overall) S61 NBB 1st-round pick S61 KEL 3rd-round pick S62 NBB 2nd-round pick ANALYSIS - This was a big trade with the Battleborn and the Timber. The Timber moved back to 25th overall while adding a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick. The Battleborn would go ahead and pick Willie Miller with that 6th overall pick. Wilie is 3rd in the class in TPE with 258 as a future star goaltender. The Timber would end up selecting Randy Marsh with the 25th pick. Randy Marsh is a defenseman with 244 TPE and a well known member in the ISFL. Just looking at it, I would say that Maine would win this deal, but we shall see who they end up picking. Miller fills a need for Nevada, but Lucid is a fantastic user for Maine. ===================================================== To KEL: Grandmaster Funk Chad Danger 3mil cap space for the remainder of S59 To NBB: Anna Pontecorvo Christopher Ford S60 NBB 5th S61 KEL 3rd*^ ANALYSIS - This was a deal of people that would not really be part of the futures of either of the teams. The 4 players would make a huge impact during the Season 59 season, but then would not see a further game in either of the jerseys. So, I think it’s really hard to say who would win this deal as the long term impact for these players is non-existent. I guess the picks could have the biggest impact given the future. I think for Kelowna, they added more talent to go on to win the Championship. So, that looked good for them. ===================================================== QCC Receives: STL S60 1st (1OA) STL Receives: QCC S60 1st (9OA) QCC S60 3rd (31OA) QCC S61/62/63 2nd* ANALYSIS - Quebec City wanted Selich. Obviously, with Flex and Evok at the helm in Quebec City, St Louis had to have known that they wanted Tomen. They have that Buffalo connection, so they moved a lot to go up and take Tomen with the 1st overall. In exchange, the Scarecrows would end up taking Sam Stone and Steve Collins in addition to the pick that will be conditional. That trade looks very good for the Citadelles so far as Selich has 246 TPE while Sam Stone is down at 42nd in the class with 228 TPE and Collins is 57th in the class with 215 TPE. So, I would say as it looks currently, Quebec City looks to have won this deal. ===================================================== To Anaheim S59 1st (1st Overall) To Nevada S59 1st (4th Overall) S59 3rd (27th Overall) ANALYSIS - The Outlaws wanted to move up from 4th to 1st to take Inf1d3l. Currently, as everyone expected infidel is earning at a great rate at 441 TPE right now. So, the Battleborn moved back to the 4th pick and added the 27th pick to try to get a ton of value for that pick. The Battleborn would end up taking Maxwell Carrigan and Anton Harrier with the two picks that they got in this trade. This seems like a very fair trade for both teams. Nevada gets two players to add to their team earning to bolster their depth and Anaheim gets their first pick which they wanted to take infidel. It makes sense for both. ===================================================== St Louis Receive S59 DET 1st (8 OA) S59 NBB 3rd (31 OA) S60/61/62 QCC 4th* * = Reddit Pick Quebec City Receive S59 STL 1st (3 OA) ANALYSIS - The Citadelles move up from 8th to 3rd to select Greyson Cooper. Cooper is someone that I like a lot, so there’s a lot of value in this pick as well. They moved Marcel Beck and Igor Isynaov. Beck is currently 7th in the class in earnings which is only 2 TPE back of Cooper. The 31st pick did not end up working out for Saint Louis, so it’ll come down to the 4th round pick. So, this could end up being a very even deal. I like to say that about every deal! ===================================================== Quebec City receive: Liam Slate Newfoundland receive: S58 2nd S58 4th Jonas Caspari ANALYSIS - For the playoff run, the Citadelles tried to go out and get Liam Slate to help win the Championship. That did not end up working out as the Citadelles were upset in the playoffs. The Berserkers go and get a 2nd and 4th round pick in exchange for the player that they were not necessarily needing considering they were being called up the season after. I would say that this was something that the CItadelles wanted to do for the push, it just did not work out. The price was right, so I think it worked well for both teams. ===================================================== Season by Season Records: Season 55 - Quebec City Citadelles: 17-32-1 (Lost in Round 2 - 4-0 to NewFoundland) Nevada Battleborn: 10-36-4 (Lost in Round 1 - 4-0 to Kelowna) Season 56 - Quebec City Citadelles: 23-23-4 (Lost in Round 1 - 4-2 to Colorado) Nevada Battleborn: 28-18-4 (Lost in Round 2 - 4-1 to Anchorage) Season 57 - Quebec City Citadelles: 49-8-9 (Lost in Round 3 - 4-3 to Anchorage) Nevada Battleborn: 30-29-7 (Lost in Round 1 - 4-1 to Vancouver) Season 58 - Quebec City Citadelles: 46-14-6 (Won Championship - 4-1 over Anchorage) Nevada Battleborn: 35-28-3 (Lost in Round 2 - 4-1 to Newfoundland) Season 59 - Quebec City Citadelles: 35-31-0 (Lost in Round 3 - 4-2 to Anchorage) Nevada Battleborn: 16-44-6 (Lost in Round 1 - 4-1 to Anchorage) OVERALL - Quebec City Citadelles: 170-108-20 Nevada Battleborn: 119-155-24 Quote:Words: 8,336 ![]() Thank you OrbitingDeath! <3 ![]() Registered S37 Challenge Cup Champion and zcookiez zdealerz ![]() Registered Posting Freak ![]() Registered S13, S15, S16, S25 Challenge Cup Champion ![]() Registered S13, S15, S16, S25 Challenge Cup Champion ![]() Registered Posting Freak
