(Not SHL Affiliated, Sponsored by Marley Drug) The Selections In a rigorous 15-minute process, a panel made up of By-Tor duked it out and came up with this year's All-Star selections. This year's format is Atlantic vs Pacific - 20 of the best players from each conference meeting to show off their skillsets. This year, by random drawing, we are meeting in the beautiful city of .... St. John's! (Fitting, right?). And now, the selections: For the Atlantic Conference! The Events For the first event, we have Speed Skating! Three of the fastest players from each conference were selected to participate in this event. First up, Gonzo Gobbledygook for Team Pacific! He steps to the line...and he's off! He's rounding the corners with blistering speed. Strong through the middle. A little wide in the last turn, but he's across the line! Final time: 14.673 seconds! A great time to start things off! Next we have Hunter Sharpe from Team Atlantic! He's getting ready, steps up to the line, and ... oh no! False start! Watch it there, Crow. Sets up again, and gets a powerful burst off the next start! He's really pushing it now! Around the last corner and ... 14.266! We have a new leader! What's this? A goaltender!?! Ethan Bravo is skating off the bench and up to the line. This has got to be good. And he's off! Faster than, well, you'd expect a fully padded goalie to move! He rounds turn 1, turn 2, turn 3, turn 4, and finish! Yep, just as expected ....10.737!?!?!?! Oh, wait, we are getting word that the clock stopped halfway through. Corrected time, 21.474. Yeah, that's about right. Pavel Jeziak up next for Team Atlantic. He steps up to the line laughing from the last showing. And he's off! Great speed through the middle. Rounding the corners well. Crosses the line! Final time: 14.442! Good enough for 2nd place for now! Speedster Lev Lebedev steps off the bench for Team Pacific. I have to say, he has a good chance in this event. Steps up to the line, and, go! Great start! Tight in the corners, powerful through the middle! A great burst at the end and he looks up to see the time: 13.829! A blistering pace, and we have a new leader! One skater to go: hometown boy Jesse Trudeau. The crowd is going crazy! Jes-se! Jes-se! Trudeau steps up to the line. And, go! Wow! Great start! It's going to be a close one!! Rounding the last turn with power and .... finish! The clock is taking a second to register... 13.822!!!!! We have a winner!!! Trudeau raises his arms as he's rounding the track back to the bench! The crowd is loving this!!! High-fives all around on the Team Atlantic Bench! The next event: Accuracy. Again, three players from each conference were selected. In this event, players will stand between the circles and fire at 5 targets in the net. (No, they are not plastic and blinking.) First up, Mew Two from Team Atlantic! And, go! Hit the first target with the first shot! And the second! And the third! and the fourth! And the fifth!!! I can't believe what I just saw! Five laser shots and five broken targets! Time: 6.245 seconds! Amazing!! The crowd is electric! A tough act to follow, Team Pacific's Danny C steps up to the line. He hits the first target, bullseye. And the second. Having a little trouble on the third target, he's taking a few shots. And finishes out the others strong! Time: 11.932! Next up for Team Atlantic, Cormac Ponaire! And he's off! Oh my, having trouble hitting a single target! 4...5...and 6 shots until that first target broke! Once he got one, they started to roll, finishing out the remaining 4 in 5 shots. Time: 14.266! Team Pacific's Jimmy Larkin-Conway up to the plate. First target, broken, second, third, fourth! Oh, my! And ohhhh, he missed on the fifth shot and finished it up on shot six! So close! Time: 7.569! Mew Two still in the lead! Atlantic's next player, Evil AllBran is up! Great showing! Misses a few, Ok, he's not going to win but he's still doing well! Breaking targets! Got on a run n the middle but the last target gave him some trouble! Time: 12.321! Okay! Last player! Pacific's Cole Carter! He is the last chance to take the title away from Mew Two! And, go! He broke the first four with four shots! Can he do it?! And....miss. Oh. no! Miss, miss. Carter is missing the last target over and over! What started out strong just blew up into failure! Time: 26:877! Congratulations Mew Two! Now for the Hardest Shot Competition! This event is made up of defensemen that have a bomb shot! Each player gets two shots. First up, Pacific's NeverBrokeAgain YoungBoy! He salute's the crowd and really leans into that first shot! 95.5! Wow! Wait, wait. They are saying KMPH? Yikes, kind of a flub. The staff now changing to MPH. And the second shot: 96.1 MPH! Much better! Next, Atlantic's Kian Hamilton Jr! First shot: 93.7! Not too shabby! What's this? Fellow QCC teammate Nor Dekes is skating out to the net in front of Hamilton! They are challenging Hamilton to man up and hit it harder! Nor Dekes standing there with their eyes closed! Hamilton winds up and fires it right at Nor Dekes stomach! The clock is showing 95.7 MPH! What a shot! As the shot hit Nor Dekes, the loudest fart could be heard arena-wide! Cleared the first row, really! ROTFL Pacific's Sekai Wollker up next! Winds up, and 99.9! Wow! Can they break 100?! Winds up, and ... 100.2! They did it! Amazing! Firs place for now! Aleksandrs Balcers up next for Team Atlantic! The crowd is loving the home team players! Steps up and rips it: 102.6!!!! Wow!! The crowd goes crazy! Lining up for shot number two and 102.8!! Amazing! We have a new leader! Pacific's Angus McFife XVIII up next! Rips the first one a bit high! 92.4! Disappointed, McFife really wind up on the next one ... 100.0 MPH!! He did it! He broke the triple digit barrier! Great work! Last up, Team Atlantic's Janne Virtanen. You can really hear it from the crowd. Although technically Team Atlantic, Virtanen is the only representative for rival Maine in St. John's tonight. I guess All-Star games don't quell bad blood! Virtanen steps up! 102.4! Oh, my! That's very close to Balcers' winning shot! Janne really winding up now, skating forward... the crowd is dead silent ... and rips it. 103.2!!!! He did it! The crowd erupts in boos as the Timber takes the hardest shot title! Congrats! Last event of the night! Shootout! This event will pit the goalies against the skaters to see who is the best! For Team Pacific, we have goaltender Olof Karsikko! For Team Atlantic, Evgeni Petrov! Ten skaters will take shots for either side. The goalies skate to their respective nets, Petrov yells "You're going down!" to Karsikko as they pass!! First up, Stan Dindesque against Petrov! Dekes, scores! 1-0 Pacific! Next, Golden Face against Karsikko! Going in slow, fakes left, goes right! Score! What a beautiful goal! Tied 1-1! Tokkulu Lakkamma in against Petrov! He shoots, and miss! Great blocker by Petrov! Still tied! Kermit Murphy lines up! Shoots from far out and it beats Karsikko! 2-1 Atlantic! Mikhail Novikov up now! He skates in on Petrov, dekes, and score! Wow! Tied up 2-2! Hometown hero Robert Black up next! He skates in, gives a head fake, has Karsikko out of position and just shovels it high! Unfortunate! Still tied! Gregory Goode lines up, skates in on Petrov, goal! Pacific up 3-2! Leon Athansios up next! Dekes, oh! Misses wide! Pacific still up 3-2! Towelie up for Team Pacific! Skates in hard, hits the brakes, and puts it five hole on Petrov! Score! Pacific up 4-2! Shion Okamoto up next for Atlantic! Moves in, dekes! Oh my goodness! How did Karsikko save that!?! Keeps Pacific up 4-2! Bean Beanman shooting for Pacific. Tries five-hole, and save by Petrov!! 4-2 Pacific still! Slavakov Vladimirashenko lines up! Another Berserker! Skates in, scores!! The crowd goes wild! 4-3 Pacific! Noel Blanchet facing Petrov now. He goes in slow, tries the backhand, what a save! These goalies are really starting to heat up! 4-3 Pacific! Sabarro Torretta for Atlantic now! Goes wide, cuts in, five hole goal! Amazing! All tied up at 4-4 now! Makrus "The Tater" Jager now! Skates in on Petrov, and save! Great glove hand! Tied 4-4! Kappa Kappa up for Atlantic. Powerful skate in, stops, tries to go around but misses wide! Tied 4-4! Alexis Saint-Michel up next! Picks up the puck, dangles in, beats Petrov! But, oh, hit the post! How sad! Tied 4-4! Greg Davies up against Karsikko now! He skates in, does a twirl! He lost it on reentry, though! Good thought! Still tied 4-4! Narboza Manyhands up last for Team Pacific! He picks up the puck, skates in, dekes! He pulled the puck back and did a little floater over Petrov's shoulder! It looked like slow motion! Amazing! Pacific up 5-4!!! Last up for Team Atlantic! Needs a goal! Berserker Jesse Trudeau! The crowd is on the edge of their seats! Trudeau skates in on Karsikko ... gives a fake, goes the other way! But, OH! Karsikko was totally out of position but got the tip of his stick on it! Save! Pacific wins the shootout 5-4!!! Great job everyone! The players and fans had a great time tonight! I hope everyone reading at home had a great time as well! And that concludes tonight's events.
