After a week away for games on the road, Minamino returned to his city of Chicago and went through the usual routine of stocking up his fridge and other necessities after a long time away. He had been looking forward to hitting up a few in particular because he knew that he had been a loyal customer for several years at a few locations, looking forward to redeeming some of his rewards. Yet at some point during his away games, he had his wallet stolen. No worries he thought, just cancel the credit cards, get the other major things replaced. It was a small bump in the road but for somebody who had heard the horror stories, Minamino was well prepared for the typical worries.
Yet despite all the news and reddit posts about what he should do in a situation as this, he wasn't prepared for the worst case scenario.
"Hi I'd like to redeem my membership reward points for this promotion!"
"I'm sorry Mr. Minamino, it looks like you've already redeemed all 200,000 of your Optimus points last week"
Kaapo Kampainen has always been really conservative with his money and he never indulges in big spendings. He doesn't drive a sports car and doesn't live in luxury, he's more kept to himself. His financial advisor knows him pretty well, so that's why he immediately called Kaapo to tell him he cancelled all his credit cards after he saw a series of highly unusual purchases. Kaapo was initially sceptical and asked for a detailed summary of what the culprits bought and he then learned that they spent thousands of dollars in strip clubs on the East Coast and paying really expensive tabs at bars and restaurants. They also bought a brand new sports car and numerous other things. They spent more in a week that Kaapo can spend in a year. He's glad his advisor caught it relatively quickly, because this was all out of character for him. Kaapo contacted the local authorities and the culprits were caught easily by tracking their latest purchases. He got all his money back but it was still an irritating experience.
