SMJHL Commissioner moose moose baby
Please note this was written as of the August 1st updates. Obviously the order has shifted a little bit since. Without further ado though, here are the top 20 rookies in the S61 class:
First: Melvin Majestik-Moose (Oh hey, that’s me!) Alright, well, maybe it is a surprise, maybe it isn’t a surprise that I’m here at the top. It’s weird to write about yourself, but I also feel like stoking my own ego, so I’m gonna go ahead and brag a bit here. Top of the class in TPE right now at 323 TPE, plus I have been putting in some work to get quite the bank account settled up already. Sitting over $120 million, and then you add to it that I’ve still been doing things to earn, along with adorable pieces (like the cute-ified logos), and just other media articles like this, it doesn’t really seem a surprise to know my TPE numbers match. Active around the site, made WJC team Sweden twice, and, if I do say so myself, a pretty fabulous person both on the site and in discord. Any team that picks me up will be lucky to have me around, and will be getting one hell of a player and user. Second: Willie Miller @Sebster Willie Miller is absolutely the strongest goalie in the class at the moment. Being third in the class behind two monstrosities is a feat in and of itself. He was picked up by the Battleborn as a DFA and has really made a name for himself in Nevada, and in the league. While Miller has not been a part of many wins, the reality is, when you have 50 plus shots on you a game, you are going to be a huge part of many saves (over 2000, in fact, the most in the league by about 200). He really is a breed unto his own. Couple this with having finished his deep dives, and written a piece of media, and if a team is looking for a goalie of the future, Miller is a great choice - potentially even first round worthy if your team is in enough of a hot spot. Third: Leons Briedis @monochroma With Leons Briedis we start to get to the glut of the class - this whole group is incredibly strong with many players sitting around 280-290. Briedis leads the pack here, and is another defender, this time coming out of Kelowna. He’s had a heck of a time on the team there, and has a solid bank account and build. Couple this with several articles, and activity around the site, and you’re looking at an active member of the rookie discord as well. I have no doubt that Briedis is a great pick up for any SHL team. Fourth: Atticus Hale @the5urreal Center Atticus Hale currently plays for the Carolina Kraken. While there is a big pipeline between Carolina and LAP, who knows if this trend will continue. What I do know is that any team that is looking for an offensive player is in a good spot if they go ahead and grab Hale early on. Being fourth in TPE, and a solid bank behind him. He has completed numerous articles, his deep dives, and continues to put out some graphics to work on his bank. One thing is for certain that GMs should take notice: The top forward playing right now rests here with Atticus Hale. Fifth: Adelie de Pengu @WithTheMoose The stinkiest player in the draft class so far, Adelie de Pengu fell slightly in their TPE. (This is a lie, he forgot to update one time, so he actually should be sitting at the same TPE as me, but I’m using this to make sure that I stand out compared to him). He’s done a ton of media, has gotten some great stuff written, is engaged with the rookie class and a pretty fantastic locker room presence. While he seems like a great pick on paper, he is extra stinky and everyone should steer clear from him as a draft pick. Sixth: Björn Viggosson @Ace Ace is the first recreate in this draft class we’re going to talk about. Alright, this is a bit of a weird one. Before the season started, you would see Ace going down as a good pick throughout the league. Solid earner, great person, and he was a SMJHL GM at the beginning of the season. However, Ace was recently appointed GMship of the Winnipeg Aurora. “But Schwarz,” you might say, “don’t GMs get to be auto-drafted?”. Yeah, that is normally true, but apparently you have to have been the GM for a while before that happens. So, instead, Ace has to draft himself. Here’s the kicker, though, he doesn’t exactly have a ton of picks to do that. Now, things could go really poorly for him if another team decides to pick him - but the reality is they would literally be wasting their pick too. Would I hope the league isn’t that mean and petty? Yeah, I would. Fingers crossed you’re able to start your GM-Ship off on the right foot, Ace, and that you don’t have to stress about retiring Bjorn already. Seventh: Patya Perevalov @natedoeshockey With Patya Perevalov and Atticus Hale, we reach the bulk of the class where you have a good mix of forwards and defensive players. Another new create, natedoeshockey has done quite a bit of media, coupled with some graphics and deep dives to separate himself from the rest of the class. A current Kraken player, one has to wonder what team might take a gander at him in the SHL draft. Eighth: Jannik Nordsterm @KlusteR This is one of the first actual GM picks (not counting Ace here, as he isn’t guaranteed to be drafted to his team). As one of the SHL GMs, KlusteR is going to be heading back with an automatic pick to the Minnesota Monarchs. Not much else to say here, if it wasn’t for the GM pick, I’m sure KlusteR would be a great pickup, but unfortunately for the other teams, they won’t even have the chance to grab ‘em. Ninth: Darwin Koff @Lobbanet Playing for the Whalers, we have Darwin Koff. Lobbanet has done some different media articles, and has spread out his earning over the season, coming in with a couple of million before the end of the season. He’s set up nicely to get some equipment and buy that big SHL training, but he’ll need to be careful and either continue tweeting or doing more media before too long, otherwise his bank balance will run out. Over the course of the season he was doing alright with his goals and assists, but should definitely look toward upping that shot percentage moving forward. Any team would be lucky to pick him up from the Whalers. Tenth: Landon Fischermann @efischermann One of the older users in the draft, efischermann has been a part of the site since 2011, despite that, as far as I can tell they’ve never had any posts since creating. However, I think this is due to the time when the SHL shifted websites, or they had created a new account, as there is a bank account transfer for their player. Either way, they’ve been working hard this go around, lots of twitter pay, training, among some graphics and media posts. Landon Fischermann would be a great pickup for any team. Vancouver has clearly shown that they can develop players well. Eleventh: Grogu Mandosson @Muerto This is another interesting one, that at the beginning of the season we couldn’t have predicted. Everyone assumed that Muerto was going to be an automatic pick to Winnipeg, but prior to the draft, Muerto has stepped down. So while Ace now needs to figure out how to draft himself there, Muerto has the ability to go anywhere. Having been around the site since 2013, Muerto is clearly a staple, having worked hard and having a decent bank balance, this is definitely the type of user that many teams could find themselves interested in. Couple that with Mandosson already earning well and being one of the few centers available, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go early on. Twelfth: Eddie Kastrba @hewasajazzman Coming in twelfth at the moment is Eddie Kastrba. A veteran user who has been around for a while. Having previously played for the Manhattan Rage, it would seem reasonable for them to make another attempt at grabbing Eddie Kastrba in the upcoming draft. After all, they only have one or two draft picks. Kastrba doesn’t have the best bank account heading into the draft, but it’s also very clear that they have been able to make a career work before, having had a player who lasted almost 20 seasons with a season 42 creation. This would be a good defensive pick for any team looking to shore up their defense for the ages. Thirteenth: Gabe-Gooney-Waters Harrak @nour Commissioner of the league means that Nour is one of those players you either definitely want on your team, or you definitely do not want. He clearly has the bank to earn well, the history to do it, and is hyper involved in all things SHL, but as a GM you really have to decide… Do you want to get caught with all of your rule breaking? Obviously, if you don’t, you won’t draft Nour. So Nour if you’re reading this, then you know anyone who passes on you is up to some shady stuff. That should be your very first clue to investigation. (Obviously /s. Nour is a great pick for any team who is looking to add some depth to their forwards for the future, or if you just want Nour on your team since he seems like a pretty swell guy). Fourteenth: Hans Graf @Drokeep Another newbie to the SHL, and you can see that Drokeep has really worked hard to build up a small bank account. Focusing on a mix of graphics submissions and media, he has the makings of becoming an incredible player for any team. Sitting above 300 TPE at the time of writing, he is definitely a defender for those teams looking to pick in the second half of the first round, Drokeep is one of those picks to store in your back pocket. (Sorry GMs if he was your secret pick, I’m letting everyone know, now). Fifteenth: Donald Trump Jr @Junior Having completed both of his deep dives, Junior is one of the last players we are going to talk about above 300 TPE (at the time of writing). While he seems to have done great things for the Raptors over the course of the season, his bank account has been reduced drastically by the season, and he hasn’t done any media or graphics since the middle of June. While it seems as though he might be a stellar pick early on, this lack of earning money in other ways might be a concern to some of the GMs. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Junior slip a little bit in the draft because of this. Sixteenth: Tomas Zadina @caltroit_red_flames If I had to guess, part of why Caltroit has fallen here on the TPE board is just due to waiting on completing his Deep Dives. Now that those are in the books, you should see Cal shoot up on the TPE board a bit, and he is definitely someone who will be a great pick up for any team that snags him. He’s sitting only at $18 million in his bank, and he hasn’t done much tweeting in the last month. It seems as though he was able to live off of a previous bank account, but at some point here Cal is going to need to create some graphics or media to help assist him in his career moving forward, particularly with the $12 million he paid out for a graphics contest early in the season. Seventeenth: Max Manning @jay2233 Jay has been a relatively quiet presence in rookie chat, but don’t let that fool you. The man is an earning machine, coming in at the 17th ranking for TPE. He’s got about 10 million dollars in the bank, and has definitely been able to generate content through some graphics and media, as well as working on his rookie tasks. With two deep dives done, this slightly quieter rookie might be one worth taking a risk on early if GMs are so inclined. Eighteenth: Sebastian Weiss @dylanjj37 At 18 we come to Dylan, who might be a bit of a risky pick for GMs. Having a history of not updating or earning well, I don’t believe that Dylan has ever made it to an SHL team, having retired and recreated before that has happened. However, he is earning pretty well this time around. I would expect that despite his activity in discord, that Dylan will be headed for a later round draft pick purely due to his past and the fact that he has retired and not earned well on previous players. Maybe Sebastian Weiss is the player that finally gets to prove the league wrong. Either way, best of luck in the draft, Dylan. Nineteenth: Duncan Mackenzie @DarkCanuck29 Up next we have Duncan Mackenzie, a right wing player out of Kelowna. While he’s sitting with the bulk of the class when it comes to TPE, there are definitely some concerns when it comes to Mackenzie’s bank account. At the moment, he is only sitting on about $5,000,000. Just barely squeaking in his second deep dive (having posted it literally almost up to the deadline), Duncan could be a great pick for anyone looking for that medium active player earning-wise. If he can write some more articles in the next few days, or maybe he has hinted that he has something coming to scouts, he could be a great pickup for any team. Twentieth: Archangelo Scaradog Jr. @Citizen of Adraa Archangelo Scaradog Jr. is the new face of the Manhattan forward line. Being the co-GM for the team means that Scaradog is an automatic pick for Manhattan in the second round, and you can bet that they’ll be glad to get some big value out of a player for a cheaper draft pick. Having a good bank account, as well as being with the rest of the class for earning, Citizen of Adraa is definitely going to continue to be a powerhouse for Manhattan. Pts 2+ might be coming? Depends if I have time.
