Since I make picks based off the other groups drafts, I like the fact it takes days :(

At least from the outside it seems like one of the easier jobs on the site yet they often struggle to keep groups updated which contributes to a lot of them going slowly. We expect the fantasy participants to make their picks in under 18 hours (and often get annoyed if they use that full timeframe), yet somehow it is still acceptable for the OP in a group to not be updated for days or for the groups to figure out skips or wrong picks themselves because the group head doesn't chime in. It honestly feels more shocking to get a manager who does their job than it is to get one who doesn't. Seems like it is just a feature of SHL fantasy drafts at this point. ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Used to be cool
Perhaps we should just delete the site

ISFL FF works really well, and i'm not even talking about the mega bot that is (was? :cry
![]() - I do feel like 12 hours for a pick is more than enough, even with different time-zones, work schedules, etc. You want to know why? Because being skipped means nothing. As soon as you have the time, you just make up your pick. Sure, you might miss a player you really want, big deal, just pick the next one available. Fantasy is always a crap shoot, so... Some people get all offended when they are skipped and i don't understand why. Even if you think you might get skipped because your turn is almost there, just message your fantasy manager and tell him "ok, my turn is coming up and i'm probably gonna be in bed/work/without internet at that time, so if i can i select Player X, if he's taken i'll take Player Y and, just in case, if he's taken i'll take Player Z". And if his pick really gets on the clock, the fantasy manager just makes his pick and tags the next user in line. EZ PZ! What does this mean? More involvement from the fantasy managers and discord groups to make it easier; - If you get 3 consecutive skipped picks, you just get auto skipped, which also makes sense. And if you don't say a peep during all the draft, you can just get replaced if enough people sign up for the waiting list (more on this below); - Fantasy managers here really need to be on top of the groups and update the original post regularly, mainly to avoid double picks, but because if they do, they can also skip picks when it's time. On the ISFL, users also have the liberty to just skip picks when the time is over if the fantasy manager can't be there at that time, no big deal. They just inform the user skipped that their time is over (not to the second, always some leeway here) and tag the next one in line; - If all group users are available on discord, the draft happens there, with the Fantasy manager involved doing the exact same thing he would do on the forum. What i normally do is i pin the important links there, and pretty much update the rosters on those pins whenever i can, so users can check at anytime the players that were taken. If all the members are present on discord, i just update the forum post when the draft is over, so that the info is public. If we have an hybrid group, i take picks on discord, i take the picks on the forum, and update everything on both sides. The important thing here is that this needs to be done regularly, which is something that doesn't happen here, at least in some groups; - I would agree that the groups for Fantasy should be created on the main SHL discord server, as long as fantasy managers have the permissions to pin and edit stuff on their group(s) channel(s); - Another thing i would really like to say is that we should be looking into the fantasy waiting list a lot more, instead of only picking players there to replace some IA ones already placed in groups. Don't know if this is exactly true, but i had a convo with some people a few weeks ago on discord and they told me this was the normal MO. As soon as 8 users sign for the waiting list, create a new group for them. ![]() ACP Access S13, S15, S16, S25 Challenge Cup Champion
I mean, yes, this is what we did in ISFL and I was the Head at the time when the switch was made. If anyone has questions on how or how we did it, feel free to message me lol

my group was quick this time (thanks group!) but it can't always be this way and for many, it was a slow and painful process. Move to discord please

I did 3 other fantasy groups in other leagues. The SHL fantasy is honestly the slowest by a far margin because we are living in the past. Having no accountability for fantasy managers makes it even worse.

I wasn't a big fan of this initially, but after this draft I'm very much in favor of putting it on discord. Anything to speed it up.
