Prompt #2
I'm having a bit of a mixed bag reaction this season. On one hand I really am excited that Nevada is not the bottom of the league for the first time in my career. But I feel like I expected more than 6th place. The top half of the SMJHL is very very tight. Much tighter than the one and two horse races that happened in past seasons. The nice thing is we keep beating top teams like Anchorage and Vancouver, but we gotta stop losing to Anaheim. This is also my first season at 425 TPE, but it feel weird. I feel like I'll actually have less total points than I did at 350 TPE. But my Offensive Grade and Defensive Grades have been higher. I'm also only sitting at 2 PIMs for having 10 Aggression, which is bizarre. But I'm barely on track to match my goal total from last year, which is the only stat I care about. I expected to score more.

Overall, I think the Baltimore Platoon has been performing pretty well. We are fourth in the league and the three first places are still very attainable. Getting our offense going a little more would probably help us, since we are behind other top 4 teams in goals scored but we make up for it with one of the best defenses in the league. Being a defenseman, that fact makes me feel great. I lead my team in blocked shots so I feel like I have really been contributing to our success. I am built to be more useful on offense so performing as well on defense as on offense is great news and I am grateful for my general managers' knowledge of the sim to make me look good. I would like to score a little more but I have teammates who have been picking up the slack so as long as we win I'm not too concerned.

Registered Posting Freak Quote:Written Task: It's been a week, describe how you feel about your individual play, team play, and any notes/surprises about the league in general. (150+ words) I think the season so far has gone mostly as I expected. My team is currently fighting in that 2/3/4 spot in the North East Division. I'm a bit surprised that Hamilton isn't being its usual dominant self though. I figured at this point that they'd be competing with Buffalo for top of the conference. Player-wise, I'm disappointed in how I've played this season. I've had good numbers defensively, but 14 points in 25 is not where I expected to be points-wise. I'm not really sure what's causing that drop, since I didn't really reduce many attributes during this offseason's regression. Regardless, the biggest thing I'm counting on this season is to make the playoffs and go deep once there. If we can win the challenge cup then I don't care if i score but a single goal this season, because it'll mean I've achieved something yet to do in my entire career: win the top prize.

For Skoda the week has been alright. Currently at like 14 points with 5 goals and 7 assists. Being on the 3 third and having literally zero special teams time it does suck for the sniper to have very small amounts of time to try and make an impact on the ice. But nothing Skoda can do but keep his head down and keep grinding away at the season. The team is doing well so he can not really complain about the success. Hopefully it all comes together and they are able to win a cup together. He is getting more and more excited about joining Montreal whenever he is able to be called up to the team. Skoda plans to keep trying hard for the team and hopefully keep earning points even with only play 13 minutes a game. Also Skoda linemates are rookies so maybe try and get them the rookie scoring title would be cool to do as well.

I was so lazy, that it's now been almost two weeks. 26 games played already, the season is flying fast! Invidually it has been a pretty good season so far. I'm currently leading the team in points, which to be fair is mostly more a result of our first line's slow start to the season. But obviously I have to be happy for my performance, and I'm on pace for the best offensive season. As a team we had a bit of a slow start, but have been getting better and right now we are having our best stretch so far. The theme seems to be that we only have one hot line at a time, so the challenge will be to try and start running on three cylinders. We are in the super tight Pacific divison, so we definitely need to get each and every point we can. The difference between finishing first and last won't be many points. The league as a whole looks pretty normal. A few top teams, a huge number of middling teams and a few teams who are tankin. A bit of a surprise is Hamilton, who I expected to bet better.

Prompt 2:
After reviewing my stats and checking the index a few times, and overall I feel like I am having a meh season so far. I believe I may be in some kind of sophomore slump. I’m not looking to put up a bunch of points as a defenseman, but being able to get a lot of hits and shot blocks has been my thing. I seem to be a bit more aggressive this season as well taking too many penalties. I really want to get back to being a strong defensive defenseman who can single handedly shut down my opponents chances to score. Not only that, but I feel like New Orleans is underperforming. A lot of unlucky bounces have happened and I am lucky to not have a negative plus minus because of it. I do think things will turn around for the team, and myself, but it is going to take time. It doesn’t help that I have slowly been going inactive. I don’t want to be, but man it is hard to find time to update weekly.

My current season with the Regina Elk is certainly a tough one so far. Although, with that said, we're probably right around where we expected to be. We lost some of our top players to call ups so we're running a pretty young group this season. My own play has been rather disappointing to this point. Despite getting much more ice time, and me and my linemates improving over the off-season, I've been scoring at around the same pace as my rookie season, and my defense has been much worse. My play has been ramping up a bit so hopefully the team can build on that in the second half of the season. We're still only about 5 points back from Anaheim for a playoff spot so anything is possible. As far as other teams in the league, I've been impressed by how much Main has improved after missing out on the playoffs last season. Nevada has also seen a massive improvement, so that has been nice to see. 169 words W: 45 L: 17 OTL: 4 P: 94 W: 38 L: 26 OTL: 2 P: 78 W: 16 L: 44 OTL: 6 P: 38 W: 17 L: 48 OTL: 1 P: 35 W: 17 L: 41 OTL: 8 P: 42 W: 30 L: 33 OTL: 3 P: 63 W: 35 L: 29 OTL: 2 P: 72 W: 36 L: 28 OTL: 2 P: 74 W: 40 L: 22 OTL: 4 P: 84 W: 46 L: 18 OTL: 2 P: 94 | Challenge Cup

As always, Kaapo Kampainen has started the year off strong, like he always does. However, most of his points come from the power play, which is playing at an insane pace lately. The team is definitely surprising some people, with Edmonton winning games after games, despite having a lot of rookies on the team. Kaapo's increase in ice-time could see him increase his point total significantly, perhaps even warrant a most improved player nomintation at the end of the year, who knows. While we know that the team won't perform at that level until the end of the season, it's definitely cool to suprise people with upsets after upsets. In fact, some people put us last in the division in the season prediction PT and if I remember correctly, we finished the first week first in the division. It's going to be a tough ride until the playoff, but I'm confident the team will extend its record-setting playoff appearance streak! As for the rest of the league, the only thing I noticed is that I'm once again performing very poorly in fantasy, so you can kiss the fantasy TPE goodbye in my case!

So far this season Greyson Coopers individual play has been pretty decent. Not as good as last seasons break through season but still sitting very nicely in the points department. Right now he currently has 31 points in 33 games & is still contributing to the team. The team play for the Quebec City Citadelles has been very strong so far currently sitting in 4th place in the league & first in their division. They have been playing really well considering they lost one of their top players Stan. So far they are playing just as good as expected & are pushing for a playoff spot early on. Hopefully they can keep up the good work & hard work & continue winning important games. So far in the standings I’m not too surprised with where the teams are but Anchorage is looking very strong once again & Detroit is struggling so far having only won 3 games. Hopefully Quebec can stay strong & keep winning to stay in the winning column.

I did not expect that Buffalo would do so well out the gate but I expect that things will simmer down. Chicago came out of nowhere too to start taking over the league and we may potentially see a rematch of the S60 finals just based on what has happened so far. Of course Hamilton had a slow start but they are never ever to be counted out so I am always keeping an eye on them. San Fransisco is a decent team this season which we havent seen in about 10 seasons and is a real throwback. Individually Harrington is leading the league in points which is nice. Unfortunately Minamino is quickly gaining on me and is looking like he may pass me in points. I hope I manage some individual hardware from this season but McDonald out of reach now, and may only hope may be to stave off Minamino for a Karpotsov. Surely Buffalo's team success would hurt me for MVP nominations. Of course there is the possibility that we both just had really hot starts and will be phased out of contention by the time the 66th game rolls around. At least Minamino is doing wonders for my fantasy team so far.

Individually, Jeff has been doing well with 27 points in 29 games, including a terrific 7 point night. Being centered by Alexander Mackenzie, Jeff has been thriving in his 2nd season being 3rd in points on the Zerks, and being 8th in the league in points just a few nights ago. From a team standpoint, Newfoundland has also been doing excellent as well. With 45 points in 29 games, good for 1st in the league in points percentage with league leading goaltender Jonas Johansson between the pipes, the Zerks look like they can keep this pace up or even surpass it (well, not Scooby Doo's shooting percentage) and that is always better than narrow wins and holding on to the top spot. In terms of the league in general, Anchorage has surprised me the most with fellow sophomore Dominik Tretyak being 'the guy' for the Armada, 2nd best in the league. It isn't known how the season will shape up, but the Zerks are in a good spot to make a 3rd playoff run in a row, looking to make a 3rd finals appearance coming off of a 4-0 sweep loss to Vancouver last season. 195 words S63 Four Star Cup Champion S64 Four Star Cup Champion S64 WJC Gold Links: Updates | Player Page | Bank

It is Marco Barengrub's first season in the SHL so I didn't really know what to expect coming into this season. He's been slotted on the third line on a good team so I didn't expect for him to get a lot of ice time and points. So far so good as our line is doing his job to not concede too many goals. A minus 3 after one week is not the greatest but I'll take it as our line doesn't generate many goals. I think everyone on the team expected for us to have a better start. It's still early for the San Francisco Pride but being under 500 is not ideal especially when the team wants to compete. The first line has been struggling but with all the changes on the roster I expect better results soon as chemistry builds on. I'm really surprised how Hamilton has been struggling out of the gate. Buffalo and Chicago seem to be the big dogs for both conferences, with how FHM works, I wouldn't be surprised after week 1 already knowing what will be the Final this season. |
