From the song The Dark Canuck by The Tragically Hip:
At the drive-in double feature At the heart of dark enough It's Jaws and The Dark Canuck Should we stay for The Dark Canuck? Yeah, everyone, hands up Who's for The Dark Canuck? I've just always liked that song. Winnipeg Aurora

SMJHL GM cut back down to my knees, gotta get back, gotta get free, cut back to my knees, lean back now, lean back and breathe
There are lots of great songs out there, so it is really difficult to pick one. One song that sticks out to me is heavydirtysoul by the band twenty one pilots, with lyrics such as:
"Death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit" To be honest that entire blurryface album had so many great songs, even with the radio hits like Stressed Out and Ride. Also U2 bad

"It's hard living
If you're in your mind It's hard living If your thoughts ain't right But I get up and say I won't give up today I got a job to slay I gotta get the fuck, outta my own way Don't beat yourself up man, it'll be okay Maybe not today, but it'll be okay" Walkin' n' Talkin' (rare americans) i like these lyrics because they're reassuring the listener that things might be bad right now, but they WILL get better eventually

Could be current favorite or all time, leave some lyrics here and a blurb about why you like them or what they mean to you. Try not to make them creepy and/or by U2. Some of my favourite song lyrics would come from my top Spotify artist since 2019 which would be BTS. "The morning will come again No darkness, no season can't last forever" from Spring Day "You know those days Those days where you're sad for no reason Those days where your body is heavy And it looks like everyone else except you is busy and fierce" from Zero O'Clock Those are some song lyrics that have helped me during tough times. (80 words) Thank you @Stadacona for the Chaewon player sig!

I'm not really a meaningful lyric guy, I just like lyrics that are fun to sing. I'll give out a current one that I'm having fun singing right now, from Drake's song "Fair Trade".
"Mama used to be on disability but gave me this ability And now she walkin' with her head high and her back straight I don't think you feelin' me, I'm out here Bein' everything they said I wouldn't be and couldn't be I don't know what happened to them guys that said they would be I said see you at the top and they misunderstood me I hold no resentment in my heart, that's that maturity And we don't keep it on us anymore, it's with security"

These lyrics to me are a cautionary tale about the fragility of mankind's moral and ethic codes.
"Well nobody wants to burn in Hell But everybody's got a soul to sell. When I was young my mama gave me some advice She said "Boy, don't you know everybody's got a price?" These lyrics of course taken from Electric Six's track "Naked Pictures (Of Your Mother)".

There are really too many songs to pick from in all honestly, but I'm doubling down on the greatest stadium rock band ever,
U2
The song came from Bono having a dream that he was Judas Iscariot. The lyrics are a meeting between Judas and Jesus in the afterlife. I remember pulling out a cassette tape of Achtung Baby to listen to for the first time as I was about to drive somewhere. The car did not move until the entire album was finished. The last supper and the betrayal in the garden in song. It's lyrically and sonically brilliant. Haven't seen you in quite a while I was down the hold, just passing time Last time we met it was a low-lit room We were as close together as a bride and groom We ate the food, we drank the wine Everybody having a good time except you You were talking about the end of the world I took the money, I spiked your drink You miss too much these days if you stop to think You led me on with those innocent eyes And you know I love the element of surprise In the garden I was playing the tart I kissed your lips and broke your heart You, you were acting like it was the end of the world In my dream, I was drowning sorrows But my sorrows they'd learned to swim Surrounding me, going down on me Spilling over the brim Waves of regret and waves of joy I reached out for the one I tried to destroy You, you said you'd wait till the end of the world ***************************************************************************************************************************** In Case U2 is a disqualifying entry, here is another that spoke to me, maybe in a breakup or in a hard time with between my wife and I at some point. This next one spoke to me as a one-time physics major who ultimately became an engineer. In much of our lives, we are defined by what we do for a living. Yet matters of the heart are more important than "numbers and figures". Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry You don't know how lovely you are I had to find you, tell you I need you Tell you I set you apart Tell me your secrets and ask me your questions Oh, let's go back to the start Running in circles, coming up tails Heads on a science apart Nobody said it was easy It's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard Oh, take me back to the start I was just guessing at numbers and figures Pulling the puzzles apart Questions of science, science and progress Do not speak as loud as my heart But tell me you love me, come back and haunt me Oh and I rush to the start Running in circles, chasing our tails Coming back as we are Nobody said it was easy Oh, it's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be so hard I'm going back to the start

I was a big Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco kid in high school so I gotta give it up for early F.O.B. every time.
Where is your boy tonight? I hope he is a gentleman And maybe he won't find out what I know You were the last good thing about this part of town

These lyrics embody the dragons in my view:
"Drench yourself in words unspoken / Live your life with arms wide open / Today is where your book begins / The rest is still unwritten” This is "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

After watching the Supernatural TV show(all 15 seasons...) the song "Carry on Wayward Son" is often stuck in my head. I don't really have any deeper meaning to associate with the chorus. I just like it.
Carry on, my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more Past Players

With the music I've been listening to the last 3 or so months, there's only one artist I have to bring to the table for best lyrics: Taylor Swift. It's impossible to say what the "best" is, so I'll give you a few of my favorites.
"And you call me up again just to break me like a promise So casually cruel in the name of being honest" - All Too Well "I knew I'd curse you for the longest time Chasin' shadows in the grocery line" -cardigan "Roaring twenties, tossing pennies in the pool And if my wishes came true It would've been you" -the 1 "You booked the night train for a reason So you could sit there in this hurt Bustling crowds or silent sleepers You're not sure which is worse" -champagne problems

"Kde domov můj, kde domov můj,
Voda hučí po lučinách, bory šumí po skalinách, v sadě skví se jara květ, zemský ráj to na pohled! A to je ta krásná země, země česká domov můj, země česká domov můj!" Kde domov můj or the Czech national anthem When we say "země česká domov můj", I feel that. Ok I'll try to make a serious one, but this mPT has made me realize I don't particularly identify with most of my music After looking through my playlist, I've gotta say Taking the Inside Rail from Racing Stripes is probably the one that speaks the most to me. "All the odds against me In the two horse race If I stand up they push me back down flat on my face They tell me it's impossible It's just the way I'm bred And get these crazy notions right out of my head All the money's on the favorite I don't get a second glance I'm not even in the running here with an outside chance ... I see the crowd and the finish line I see the day when the prize is mine It maybe crazy the dream that I swear The clouds are all behind me The wind's in my hair" I have always felt like an outsider in the hockey world, being bullied out of it when I was younger, but I came back with newfound passion that wouldn't let me be forced out this time. I even referred to those who opposed me as "purebreds", possibly due to inspiration from the movie. Ended up winning the provincial championship in my last year of minor hockey too, before getting a chance to play Jr. A. I am often times subjected to @UberBJ playing his favorite song, It's raining men. I don't know what he finds so appealing about 'Rough and tough and strong and mean' specimens of the male sort but to each their own.
