QUEBEC CITY CITADELLES
VS NEWFOUNDLAND BERSERKERS The S64 SMJHL finals are upon us, and we will see the Newfoundland Berserkers face off against the Quebec City Citadelles for the Four-Star Cup. As is tradition, these finals will come with a bunch of TPE available for you guys, in the form of Championship Week! Here's how this will work: there are several tasks, each of which is worth varying amounts of TPE for putting in a little effort, for a maximum of 16 possible TPE total. You can complete them in any order and do as few or as many as you would like. ONLY S64 SMJHL ROOKIES (S65 SHL DRAFTEES) CAN EARN TPE FOR CW TASKS. SMJHL Milestones +3 TPE Code: Task #12 - 3 TPE So one of the first things that scouts would say about BASE PACK when covering him for the S64 SHL Draft Class is that he has really good angles. Maybe that means that he squares up to the puck really well on the ice but it really probably means that he has four angles to his body because he is a pack of cards. It certainly is a unique situation that scouts do not see every day in hockey. Scouts would probably note that it seems like there are a lot of cards inside of the pack because BASE PACK takes up a lot of the net out there. It also seems like BASE PACK is adding cards to his pack every day so future SHL teams can look forward to his mass expanding even after he is drafted so he hopefully can be a great goalie for some team in the big leagues. Scouts might be wary that he is a pack of cards instead of a full fledged human being, but hopefully some team decides to take a chance on this unique player. 185 words Code: Task #11 - 3 TPE BASE PACK is spending most of his time this offseason fulfilling his obligations to his card sponsors. Since he is a pack of cards it is only natural that he partners with card companies and card shops to promote their products and do autograph signings. He is very busy traveling all over the world meeting and greeting fans and card collectors, so much so that some people are questioning whether or not he is dedicated enough to hockey to make it the SHL one day. Still it appears he is training in his hotels and adding cards to his pack to grow stronger while he is on the road. Philadelphia has to be happy to see that his mass has continued to grow even after being selected in the second round. Hopefully the money will also help BASE PACK train a bit for more tpe this season to see if we can bulk up his pack contents just a bit here. 161 words Code: Task #10 - 3 TPE Even though the Carolina Kraken got eliminated from the playoffs in the second rounds, we still have a lot to be encouraged about with how we performed. We did a little bit of an upset, eliminating Maine in the first round of the playoffs which was really exciting for our franchise. We had a tough go of it in the next round, but we still have a pretty good foundation in place for next season. I think BASE PACK will be a lot more suited to playing as many games as he does, and hopefully his skills will be as sharp as the edges on his cards. I also believe that our management will do a great job in the draft bringing in new players to help us in our run next season. It is an exciting time to be a Kraken and I am glad BASE PACK is on the team to experience it. Hopefully we can score a 4-star cup in the upcoming campaign. 166 words Code: Task #13 - 1-3 TPE I am going with Buck Keithley from the Newfoundland Berserkers. I am guessing he is a bizarro Keith Buckley and hopefully in this timeline he doesn't go a bit nuts and break up the band Every Time I Die. Hopefully he has time to play hockey and music in this world and he remains a cool dude so that he can honor the best name award I have given him here. 71 words

Milestones (+3 TPE)
Code: Task #6 - 3 TPE Here's my dream team of Newfoundland and Quebec City players based on their performances in the playoffs when it mattered most: LW: Emeril Lagasse Lagasse had a fantastic playoffs, scoring the most points on the team (tied with two others) despite barely getting any power play time, and was an excellent setup player who also dominated at even strength. C: Alexander MacKenzie MacKenzie, the reigning league MVP, was once again fantastic this season and it carried into the playoffs. He scored a team high 10 goals on their cup run and was once again near unplayable. RW: Pope Coswi Coswi is not technically a right winger but had performances very worthy of making this team, scoring the second most goals on the team (8) and 14 points while, like Lagasse, not getting much man advantage time. LD: Mikko Rashford Rashford was dominant in the regular season as an offensive defenseman and it happened again in the playoffs, where he tied for the team lead in points with 17 and was a driving offensive force from the back end. RD: Rand'al Thor Much like Rashford, Thor was another dynamic offensive defenseman and he only scored one goal less than the team points leaders (16). Him and Rashford were an absolute menace from the blue line. G: Jonas Johansson Every cup winning team is backed by a good goalie, and Johansson once again proved to be a reliable presence in goal who did his job more than well enough to fit a championship winning starter. (261 words) Code: Task #14 - Latecomer Special - 2-3 TPE Incredible showing for Newfoundland in these finals as they once again dominated all playoffs and took out a Quebec team that never looked like they stood a chance against this freight train of a team. Here are some keys to Newfoundland's success these finals. 1) Eliminating Colorado: While Quebec had a good season, Colorado was the one team that Newfoundland faced that they looked mortal against all season, so winning that series would have made them quite confident that if they just did their thing the cup was theirs. 2) Squad depth: Newfoundland was busting at the seams with quality players all over this season, and just like last season they had easily the deepest squad in the league, and as the playoffs showed teams were under threat no matter which unit took the ice. 3) OT Performance: The Berserkers managed to come up big both times it mattered, netting OT winners in games 2 and 3, giving them the momentum they needed to dominate game 4 to complete the cup sweep. (172 words) Code: Task #8 - 3 TPE My rookie season was far from good. In fact I would go as far as to say I would classify it as quite bad! With Anchorage being a rebuilding team at the moment, Ricky was given a top six role from the start of the season in the roster, playing with Paul Koivu and Leon Lokitonov, but it was an absolute nightmare most of the time that he was on the ice, managing a horrific -48 plus minus across the season, despite playing 21:39 minutes of ice time per game. He had only 8 goals and 20 points despite getting some marginal time on the power play, and his giveaway to takeaway ratio was about 1.3/1 in favour of giveaways. It was not all negatives, though, as Ricky blocked an impressive 116 shots and laid out 89 hits, showing good physicality and willingness to put his body on the line. Hopefully things will improve a lot next season. (160 words) Code: Task #3 - 2 TPE As they have two of the many brothers on their team, Anchorage thought it would be nice to make game 4 against Detroit in the playoffs a Koivu appreciation night, where bobblehead figures of all the Koivu brothers were given out at random to spectators as a fun way to give back to the fans. Unfortunately this ended up not going as cheerily and positively as the team expected, as after being demolished by Detroit in game four for the Armada to get swept, many angry Boat fans who received Paul or Ricky Koivu figures tossed them onto the ice in protest at the final buzzer of the game. (109 words) Code: Task #13 - 1-3 TPE Code: A. Which player from either team has the best name in this series (just the name itself, nothing to do with the player themselves) Code: C. We've been talking about the playoffs, but it's performance throughout the season that helped get our finalists into the playoffs. Who was the key player to success for either team (or both) during the regular season and why? Total TPE: 16

Code: Task #1 - 3 TPE If my player was playing for a team that is in the playoffs they would be playing for Quebec City. The reason that I say that is because my player is a pass first player while also scoring crucial goals when needed too. I'd slot into their roster as a 2nd or 3rd line RW. I think my player wouldn't make the biggest impact on the team since they are stacked with RW leading their scoring and assisting. But I do think my player would help in the locker room and making people excited to watch the game. I think my player would improve their chances of winning a cup because he can get everyone going and excited for the task that is in front of them. I think it is important to have someone on the team that is there to get everyone on the team involved into the game and make sure they are having fun. |
