Since we are roughly halfway through S66 I wanted to take a look at how each of the rookies drafted in the first half of the first round is doing so far stats wise for their teams. First up a recap of the first round.

1: Anchorage Armada  - D Jobin
2: Yukon Malamutes (via CAR) - Theodor Larson
3: Vancouver Whalers  - Meta Knight
4: Kelowna Knights  - Jacques Hammer
5: Great Falls Grizzlies  - Bobby McGinnis
6: Quebec City Citadelles (via REG)  - Jack St. Clair
7: Carolina Kraken (via YUM) - Kyle Murray
8: Maine Timber  - Pawter Meowski
9: Regina Elk (via QCC, via STL) - Hodor
10: Colorado Raptors  - Isaac Forty-One
11: Nevada Battleborn  - Alexi Piastri
12: Quebec City Citadelles  - Tam Kove
13: Newfoundland Berserkers  - Ramsus Bergling
14: Yukon Malamutes (via DET) - Sheo O'Connall

1. D Jobin. The 1st overall pick to Anchorage has high hopes and high pressure being that high overall so how are they doing so far for the 11-11-5 Armada.
Through their 27 games Jobin has put up 15 points playing on the 3rd pair defense for Anchorage. Overall not bad for a rookie defenseman on an under performing team and I expect Jobin will continue to grow as the season goes on. Once he gets more power play time I also expect his offensive numbers to jump some more too.

2. Thedor Larson. Pick number 2 going to Yukon after a draft day trade. The rookie center Larson has had a very solid season to start for the league leading Malamutes. Through 26 games Larson has a very impressive 26 points. Going a point per game in your rookie season is no easy feat and they should be absolutely thrilled at that production so far. Much like Jobin, Larson could jump even more with powerplay time but we will also see if extended penalty kill time in the future potentially tires them out.

3. Meta Knight. A fitting name to head to Kelowna's biggest rival in Vancouver. The 2nd place Whalers picking high in the draft much like the 1st place Malamutes seems a little unfair. Through 28 games for the Whalers, Knight has 23 points while putting up big penalty kill numbers. Another great pick high in the draft so far that should continue to grow and prosper in the future.

4. Jacques Hammer. Speaking of those Kelowna Knights, the 2nd to last place team at the moment's 1st pick. Though 26 games for Kelowna so far the winger Hammer has 17 points. Kelowna is in a big rebuild at the moment and hemorrhaging points in the standings by the game so it's honestly a pretty solid stat line for a rookie in that situation. As Kelowna continues to draft and the team improves Hammer should keep growing as well into a top player.

5. Bobby McGinnis. The first pick of the Grizzlies who are in desperate need or more young players. 27 games in for the young left winger and already 23 points. 2nd overall for team production so far. Much like the Knights, the Grizzlies are rebuilding and these young picks should continue to grow and impress as the team gets some more drafts and growth going.

6. Jack St. Clair. The Citadelles first pick of the first round. On a fairly deep team the young winger has 19 points but is also getting minimal time ( less that 17 mpg) behind all the other players QCC has at the moment. It's a solid amount, though nothing great so we can definitely see how the career continues to grow as that playing time goes flying up.

7. Kyle Murray. The 1st pick of the Kraken after a trade out of the 2nd overall pick. How does the rookie winger stack up on a rebuilding Carolina? Through 28 games Murray is at 16 points. While not outright impressive overall he is 4th on the team in points so it speaks volumes to the weakness of and lack of top end players for Carolina. Like the Knights and Grizzlies it will be interesting to see the team progresses through the rebuild and how Murray fairs during it.
