S66 PT #4: Just Wanna Have Fun
#91

The Edmonton Blizzard have a very simple end of practice drill and or game depending on what you personally would like to dub and or name it as. The drill and or game is simple, knock Bas O'Bigbers on his ass and fart in his face until he says uncle, it's a game Ben Waters Jr pays a lot of money to the winner each practice (roughly 200 grand per win) and it has severely motivated the Blizzards of Edmonton to continually finish last place over and over again. Most people don't play this game but Kyle Sutton and Brian Vandenport get super invested in trying to come out on top literally and show off their gaseous pheromones in successfully seducing the money directly out of Benjamin Waters Jr's pocket. So far Sutton has won 6 million to Vandenport's 3 million. To conclude, I feel as though I should get a bonus for writing an all time weird PT and Bas O'Bigbers sniffs farts for money and team morale.

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

Creative Prompt:

At the end of Panthers practice after the no fun coaches have finally bolted from the ice and left us cool guys to finish up, the panthers like to cool down and have some fun by playing some of the old gym games they would play back in elementary and jr high school, except on ice. Stuff like blob tag and home free. They like to bring out the rubber pucks and lineup up on each blue line and play some dodge puck as well, slapping the pucks at each other. Although that can get dicey sometimes and Jimmy Wagner and Rock Strongo always end up teaming up with each other and smoking everyone. Another game that the Panthers like to pull out is British bulldog on the ice. Joans is definitely one of the best at that due to his speed and agility, at least I like to think so. And sometimes for fun they'll bring out the orange street hockey ball and play hockey with that.

At the end of a shitty chippy practice, the new Orleans Specters love to play a hybrid version of British bulldogs. (this may be called something different in America). Essentially 1 skater starts in the middle of the rink, the rest of the skaters have to get from one side of the rink to the other. The guy in the centre has to body check the runners to the ground to get them to join his team. Last person standing wins. They keep going back and forth until there's no one left. This helps train agility/jukes as the runners have to dodge the middle men.
It helps hone balance as you have to stay on your feet to survive.
It trains checks/hits as you have to muller people to get them onto the team.
But most of all its a fun game, everyone loves playing a bit of British bulldogs

PLAYER PROMPT
The message Walton has as a reminder is "Pride". He writes it to the palm of every new glove. The reason behind this is that while it is a cliche to "play for the logo on your chest", it is actually hard to look at your own chest. When you write it on your palm, it is way easier to remind yourself. And obviously, Pride is not just the team, but also a feeling of pleasure, self-respect and responsibility for yourself and others. It is something every team sport athlete should have every time they put a jersey on. Besides that, Walton does not have many other special equipment personalizations, but he does have a few superstitions. He always switches his skate laces to new ones before a game, because once in junior hockey his laces were not poperly tied and he actually tripped because of them while on a breakaway. That's why he always needs to have fresh laces out of the pack.

Creative Prompt
The time honored Atlanta tradition is play a nice game of “Catch The Duck” in which we chase Puddles O’Duck around the rink while trying to tackle him. Winner gets $3 and can make Puddles house sit for a weekend without any complaining from his end. Such a lucrative prize has led to people getting creative with how they try and catch him. Evgeni Petrov was banned for being entirely too good at the game due to his hunting background and the fact he’s almost killed Puddles three times. Angus McFife is the best at Catch The Duck because he just simply sits on the rink and waits for Puddles to fly to him. While the rest of the players are chasing Puddles, he’s looking behind him at the mob and not noticing the calm and stoic McFife a few feet away with his lightning reflexes. The worst is Brandybuck HisBallsAreGold or whatever his name is, he’s just too old and slow now. Sad!

Written Task: What are some on-ice games or drills that your team likes to run for fun? (Don't just say scrimmage please) Does it have any practical applications to a game, or is it purely to blow off some steam? Where did the game come from? Who's the best on your team at it? Who's the worst? (150+ words)

And what if i did just say scrimmage? What are you gonna do? stop me? Listen, I'll do you a favor. I'll pivot. The Scarecrows love doing a funny little drill called shoot the puck really hard at some idiot. Typically, we use Wide Peepo 3 Koivu, who we bully because of his weird Elon-type name, and we put him in pads, then we shoot the puck really hard at him. Outdoor Truck has the hardest shot, but I've been known to slap a couple bappers in my time. Weakest shot? Tommi Koivu. That guy is a loser, and he always says "I don't want to hurt my brother" grow up man. Paulie, tell that guy to grow up. We also like to do a drill called ring around the rosie where we find some random guy off the street called rosie and throw big hoola hoops around him. That one has a little less practical application than the first one.

Player prompt

There's nothing about hockey that Yannick Svoboda likes more than going fast. With that in mind, Svoboda does whatever he can to make himself feel faster, so that he can have more fun while playing the game. He has managed to convince both head office, as well as his team to allow him to wear a red helmet every game. Yes, he is aware that the team's colours are blue and orange. He is also aware that red is a fast colour, and wearing the red helmet makes him feel very fast. He also draws little flames on his helmet, because everyone knows that flames are also fast. The last thing he does to his equipment is that he draws a picture of a little elk on his right glove, and a panther on the left one. The elk reminds him of his roots with Regina, whereas the panther is obviously for his current team. Plus, the panther makes him feel faster too. The elk maybe not as much.

Ole Olson has a nervous tick where he constantly has to re-tape his stick between periods. Both the handle and the blade. He strongly prefers fresh tape over worn and broke in. He swears that the grip of new tape helps him with puck control and general stick control. It has been a bit of a problem as he sometimes spends more time focusing on re-taping his stick than he does listening to his coaches during intermission. He has, on more than one occasion, missed a crucial tactic change in the middle of a game that took a couple shifts to pick up. Despite the issues with focus, the performance on the ice each season has shown that it was worth putting his focus where he felt he needed it to be. He does not have any crazy stories like many other players, but he does have this one constant thing he feels he must do all the time.

aleksandr iskandrov actually has stolen the very popular necklace "a heritage in bloom" to wear during hockey games. This necklace was made by a chinese craftsman named Wallace Chan, and is valued at an estimated 200 million American dollars. It is a total of 338 carats. The main diamond alone costs around 40 million, and it features hundreds and hundreds of small diamonds and jadeites. Essentially, aleksandr iskandrov stays iced out on or off the ice. The way he affords this is through various rug pulls and crypto scams, and then laundering his money due to various criminal undergoings, and keeping his money in offshore bank accounts in order to evade taxes, as iskandrov wouldn't be able to afford it under normal circumstances since his contract is only at 7 million dollars with the hamilton steelhawks. it would be advised to not ask aleksandr iskandrov about his various heists on jewelry or other valuables.

Creative Prompt

The Tampa Bay Barracuda has been struggling this season and it was a suggestion from captain Michael Fitted to make that particular practice more intense than usual. After the coaching staff took off the ice, the rookies immediately laid on the ice to catch their breath. That's when Fitted called them all pathetic, how can the older players on the team still on their feet and the young ins struggling so hard. After the motivation speech, everyone got psyched and ready to follow the captains lead. 10 more blue line, red line, blue line, red line to get the boys puking followed by blocking shots shoot by our 2 goalies we let too often by themselves this season. We always seem to lose in the shootouts so the last guy to score on a breakaway has to do more bag skates. Marco Barengrub was the loser like everyone expected. Some one on one battle between a forward and a d-man in the corners and every trip would be followed by a loud FUCK THE PENALTYS.

Player Prompt

In order to remember to enjoy the journey of being a professional sim hockey player, Kev Kevens places a single tally mark on the hockey stick he used to play with during childhood for every week he remains in the SHL. This stick is displayed right near the front door of his house and every time he sees the growing tallies, he is reminded of the weeks of life well spent. What started out as having fun playing the game as a child has turned into an opportunity to have a career that he enjoys every week. Kevens knows the importance of reflecting on the past and recognizing how fortunate and grateful he is to continue to play the game he loves after all these years. The tally marks allow him to keep on remembering this and know that just as easily the marks began accumulating, they will eventually have to stop just like everything else in life. The fun comes from counting up week by week and being mindful of the fact that you're currently experiencing the middle of the journey.

Sophie Bordeleau likes to put little reminders of home in hidden spots on her equipment. On the inside of one glove she has a symbol of two interlocking feminine symbols, a secret mark showing her allegiance to her roots. Being an out and proud queer player certainly gives Sophie popularity with a certain group of fans, and by keeping this symbol in her glove she has a hidden but indelible mark that she's just like them. On the inside of the other glove, she has the words "Live Proud" carefully printed. This short phrase reminds Sophie to always live life to the fullest and not to second-guess any decisions she makes, on or off the ice. When she takes a shot or makes a move in a game, she's using her hockey sense to know what decision to make and trust that it's the right one. When she's dealing with the media or even just in her everyday life, Sophie can live confidently and not feel afraid to hide any part of herself.
