Write your predictions for this year's IIHF tournament or WJC! Tell me about your team! How far do you realistically expect to go this year? What nations do you want to match up against, and which do you dread? What are your expectations for your player?

I think this tournament is czechia to take. We have a good bunch of active players at a high TPE point in their career. We also have new blood at the management. Maybe the change of management will lead to new and fresher tactics. I know we have not been able to perform to our expected level in the recent tournaments so this could help. I think the team is also due for a medal, it has been a while since we got one of these. The competition is always fierce but teams like FInland have historically performed very well despite not being the favorites. I think they will do well again in this tournament and should be expected to be a medal team again. I think Canada or USa should be in a medal spot again as they are usually fueled by high TPE talent every season. they will be bronze medalists this time.

Many teams have rivals they'd love to trounce in a playoff series. Maybe you as a player have another specific player you'd love to beat to win the cup and lord it over them for the rest of their lives. Tell me who you'd love to play in a playoff series and why! Why would you love to beat this team or player? What would it mean to you or your team? Keep it friendly.

My dream serie is Atlanta vs the argonauts. We already had that serie once and we won but we are both same season expansion teams and it feels good to see us both in finals. They ended up winning a few championship of their own so we would have a chance to remind them who is the better expansion team. @jay2233 is a player I want to beat again in the cup finale. I could say im gonna win the cup and he would have to use his own meme where its me pictured saying im gonna win the cup against your poverty franchise and I would get a laugh out of it because he would mock his own team at the same time!!! Atlanta has been a really good core of players and the league changed rules to add more parity to the league just as we were peaking and aspiring to many cups. It saddened me we had to lose so many good players and I feel we are owed a few more presence in the finals soon before most of us are retired.

Tell me about something good that happened in your SHL career which you hope will happen again! What is it, what will it look like? Did it happen to your current player or one of your former players? What can you do to stack the odds in your favor?

I think my whole career course has been great and I hope that when i recreate i get the same experience where I am interested and excited at all our junior games, make new friends as new creates join the team, get drafted to atlanta, develop a solid chemisty in atlanta again and push my fellow teamates to update and earn so we can have a shot at the cup every season. If everything went just as steady and with the same peoples and adding new friends as well, I would love it very much. I think I am proud to have been a max earner most of my career, something i couldnt do on my last 2 creates. Its not just about doing the tasks, its really about doing em all for 2+ years without faltering that is impressive to me. I will continue to earn the most as I can to make my player useful as long as possible but soon the time will come when it will be time to think about the future and at that point, I would like to have the same kind of career but then as a forward.

a. Winnipeg made the finals last year and came up just short against the Forge. Last year, their offense ran through Mikko Rashford - this year, their top line has been much more of a balanced attack, with Gonzo Gobbledygook and Lias Ekholm-Gunnarsson stepping up hard. Does this make Winnipeg a stronger team, or would it be better to spread this firepower out and run multiple scoring lines?

For 1 TPE:

I think Winnipeg has the perfect roster to win the cup, their lines are deadly, they make it far every year, alas for some reason the sim doesn't like them and they end up underachieving when they are clear favorites. I don't think its a tactical issue, I think they are doing everything to win and competently so, however as we all say, sim gonna sim.

Milestones (+3TPE)

1.     Trivia word: juiceisloose (+3TPE)
2. (+4TPE)

a.     I think it would be better if Winnipeg had a more even scoring attack.  I am of the personal belief that depth is king and wins championships.  Without depth, you are forced to play your 1-3 stars for 30 minutes a night, exhausting them by the fourth through seventh games.  That is not a good plan.

b.     He is absolutely tearing it up.  It is unreal how good he’s been, I am not sure there is a definitive way to shut him down.  I’d say try to eliminate his options, if his teammates can’t get the puck then they can’t give the puck to him.  So focus on his support pieces to hinder his game would be my strategy.

c.     Karsikko is just an animal, plain and simple.  Dude wakes up in the morning and pisses excellence.  I have no idea where I stand on the topic of few high quality shots versus a high number of low quality shots, but man either way it will be hard to get anything past these two goaltenders.  Both have been playing great thus far these playoffs.

d.     I have to pick New England.  Winnipeg has that drive to win and I think they are going to give it their all, but man something just tells me to go with New England.  They have that dog in them this year, so they are my pick.  Also I’m just salty that peg as beaten me two years in a row.

3.   (+3TPE) Honestly, I have been chasing a second ring ever since I won my first with Ty Murphy.  His career has shaped up to be underwhelming for me.  I wish he could have won more awards than he has, and especially more all star appearances, but it just hasn’t worked out.  I think with his stats up to this point, he has a solid place in the Hall of Very Good.  Maybe even the hall of underrated, but who wants either of those?  I’d love a hall of fame nod (if they ever induct another class into the hall of fame lmao).  We’ll have to see what happens though, maybe he’ll find a depth position on a great team late in his career and he’ll tear it up.  Dude might even end up winning like seven or eight more rings by the time he retires, who knows.  I doubt it, but if you can dream it then you can do it.

4.     (+3TPE) I do not really have any specific team or player that I can say I would love to beat in that way.  I have been such a journeyman over my career that I really haven’t built up any grudges or anything over my career.  It’s always kind of just been fun to win and not fun to lose lol.  When I was in Hamilton, it was fun to beat Buffalo and Chicago, when I was in Toronto, it was fun to beat literally anyone, and in Seattle it was fun when we beat Winnipeg.  Rivalries are cool but at the end of the day it’s just fun to be a part in this conservatively oiled machine that is the SHL.  My legs are getting tired though, I suspect my next team may be my last if not my second to last.  Regression is a bitch and a half honestly, only getting two or so solid seasons out of a player that I’ve spent a year building up sucks.  But I understand.

a) I think having a more balanced team helps you no matter what the situation is. Just look at the Toronto Maple Leafs, they're very top heavy and always struggle in the playoffs, so I think by having a more balanced attack it helps your team. Don't forget about the veterans in the bottom line that can score as well, they're just as important !

b) I think it's time to send out the goos to get him. There are always bottom line players who understand their roles is to shut down the opponents. I think there's no better candidate to do this than pesky veteran Kaapo Kampainen, who was once part of the Wolfpack organizationa and is willing to prove to his former team that they made a mistake trading him away all those years ago.

Kaapo Kampainen is getting old, there's no denying that, but despite his advanced age and his clear regression, he still hasn't lifted the cup. He came close numerous times during his time with the Winnipeg Aurora, but was never able to win the coveted championship. Now deep in regression, Kaapo has scored more goals than ever this season with an impressive 38 goals in 68 games. I hope that history will repeat itself and Kaapo will once again break his personal goal record and score at least fifty. There's basically no chance it will happen, but one man can hope! I also hope the Winnipeg Aurora will be able to go back to the finals, but here is where I hope history doesn't actually repeat itself, I want to be able to win a damn championship before I retire. There is no denying Kaapo's career will come to an end sooner than later, so it would be nice to win something before he retires.

Continuing with the branding wars: this year's final features the return of the glowing bear god against a fresh opponent - a mighty wolfpack! This one seems slanted in the bear god's favor, but don't count the wolves out so easily! Tell me who wins and why! The arena and the rules of the fight can be whatever you desire. Get creative!

Even if his opponent changes, I still think the mighty bear god would be able to defeat any opponent sent its way. I mean it is a literal god, there's no way you can defeat it, even if you are a pack of wolves. Even if the wolves decide to circle him and bite his calves all at the same time, the god would just kick them all away at once. I think I once said that there is a laser beam coming out of its eyes so it would just pulverise the wolves and leave them in a pack of dust. The wolves could work as a team though, which could make things harder for the bear god, but there is still no way anything is able to beat that mighty bear god. Now that I think about it, there is nothing in the league that would actually beat him, so I don't really know what to write about this prompt anymore.

Congratulations, procrastinator!  Through my most gracious scheduling error, you’ve won a special task! [TEAM] has won it all! Were the playoffs as you expected this year, or were there some surprises? Who were you hoping would take it - Winnipeg's redemption tour or the fresh-faced Wolfpack? What did you like or not like about this season?

Honestly, I did not think I would have to face the New England Wolfpack in the finals and it looks like the team wasn't ready to face them either because we lost the series, but oh well... there is nothing I can do about it now. I think the playoffs went as expected for the Winnipeg Aurora, we didn't have much trouble to reach the finals, but I think it was an upset that the Wolfpack was able to defeat us. I did not even think the Wolfpack would make the finals, I thought we would get our rematch against the Philadelphia Forge! The rest of the playoffs went as I planned if I remember correctly!

3. History repeating (3)

I would really like to win the cup for at least one more time! I won it in my first season in the SHL with the Argonauts as a fourth-year player in season. It wasn’t such a long time ago as it was in season 68. I remember enjoying the moment since I wasn’t really expecting to win anything to begin my career.

I think that, being a member of a young team with a really bright future, I’m currently on the right track to win at least one more cup in the foreseeable future. Indeed, the Renegades are on the right track with a young promising core and a lot more new players on their way to the big league. As such, I don’t think I need to do anything but wait for a few seasons before we’ll be able to contend for the cup. As such, I think the odds are already stacked in my favor.

5. Blood on the Ice (3)

To begin with, we must set the rule to establish the winner without any doubt and anybody challenging the result:

- The match will be a battle to the death between the two sides, there won’t be any surrender;
- The battleground will be the natural habitat of these two beasts, the boreal forest;
- To make things more interesting, the bear won’t have access to any of his godly power, because it would then be too easy for him to win. The bear will be of a stupid size (bigger than the biggest bear recorded at 1900 pounds) to compensate for him losing his powers;
- Finally, the battle will be a 6 on 1. Six being the average size of a wolfpack according to the government of Alaska.

Now that the rules are set, I think that the bear would win the match with little to no difficulty. Even though the wolves would be able to coordinate their attacks to gang up on him, the shear size of the bear would absolutely be too much for them to handle. Using a comparison with dinosaurs, it would be like a pack of raptors ganging up on a T-rex.

I really thought Winnipeg was going to win it all this year (as I did for the past 3 seasons). I think that for the past 3 seasons, they had the best roster in the league and they were always a menace in the regular season and a really hard team to go against in the playoffs. Event thought they weren’t my pick, I just want to say that I’m really happy for the Wolfpack. Congrat to the whole team!

As for our early first round exit, as a young team currently rebuilding, I can’t say I was surprised as this was what I expected.

The best thing that has happened in my SHL career was a couple of players ago unfortunately but I would love to recreate the kind of success that my first player, Johannes Leitner, had in his career. Johannes Leitner was a long time goalie in the league and while his career was not super long, he has an incredible run along the way picking up a lot of wins and awards as well en route to the SHL hall of fame. I was never super active in the league with Leitner though I was active enough and played across two different sim engines having success in both with Leitner. Leitner played almost his whole career with one team, the New England Wolfpack and it was not until the end when he finished his career with another team. Although the end of his career was very forgettable, he won multiple MVP awards in his career which is very rare for a goaltender that I am aware of. While I don't think Gundogan has any chance to be anything right now, just having some great success and be a top goalie in the league would be wonderful.

The series is complete and the New England Wolfpack have won the cup! The Wolfpack took home the win in the 7th game against Winnipeg so the series went the distance and delivered a very exciting series to the fans of the SHL. I definitely did not expect the playoffs to go this way because well, in general, as someone who does not pay a lot of attention to things happening outside of Minnesota, New England has, at least in my memory, been a team right near the bottom or at best the middle but now they are a cup winner! As someone who spent nearly a whole career in New England and someone who is from New England in real life it is pretty cool to see and I always have to love seeing an American team come out on top versus a Canadian one!

It obviously makes them a little stronger than last year. When that line is out, it is a nightmare for any teams to deal with. And if you dare take a penalty, you most likely will not get away with a penalty kill, so enemies will likely play more conservative and avoid taking penalties, so then the other lines get away with more things that they wouldn't normally.

Svoboda is definitely hard to counter. You would think well just put 2 players on him, covering at all time. Not posible. he is too fast, and he will likely just out play you and pass it to a teammate before you can do anything about it. So really you let him mostly do his thing in places that are not too dangerous, and if he comes too close to making big plays you try to send a physiaclly strong player to deal with it hopefully.

c. Olof Karsikko has made 823 saves in these playoffs, nearly twice the number of saves made by Winnipeg's Rebecca Montagne. What can New England do to help their tendie out? Or should they settle on a strategy of allowing their goalie to face a high volume of low-danger shots to get in the zone and stay hot? Alternatively, how can they rattle Montagne?

Olof is the carry of New England. Their Carey Price. I think they just keep doing what works, so let Karsikko make those saves. He is absolutely on fire right now and nkothing can stop him, not even his own team. Montagne has the issue of not enough shots, so NEw england should focus on getting a low amount of very good shot, like this she is not in the zone and will be getting tough shots to save.

d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why?

I mean even if I know the result already, it had to be New England Wolfpack. They already had won 3 series in game 7. People would say it does not look good and is not a good thing, but I think it is. I think that means their team was able to show up at the best of times, which will mean they can show up in the series when needed.

A lot of people would just say oh well the bear easily wins against a wolf, the wolf is so small compared to a big polar bear, it wouldn't even come close to hurting him even if the wolf got to him, which again is unlikely because of the big range of the bear and his powerful paws that would deliver a strong stirke. But here, we have a wolf PACK. They literally move together in the same group, at this point it is like if they had a single mind, but in multiple wolf. So they all move coordinated, and they will do whatever is necessary to win. They would just swarm the poor bear, and he probably would not get a punch in. Even if it was like two of even three bears, they just would not be able to react properly and they would again get swarmed. Maybe if it was in the middle of the winter, polar bear might have a little bit of an advantage, but if it was a forest then no chance for the bear.

I think that an underrated geographical spot would be honestly the Alps. I think the countries and the poeple around that region are very good at winter sports in general, like skiing and curling, so they would just need a little bit of time to adjust to the sport. You would be able to get people from 3 already existing IIHF nations, Germany, Switzerland and France, and you can add Italy. Currently they probably would not be good, but give them 5 years and all the curling players could learn the game and be masters already, curling being a harder sport. Honeslty Paul Koivu would consider very much transferring there, the Alps are beautiful mountains, and the weather is pretty nice year around, has winters but not too cold, and pretty nice summers. It has also a very nice scenery, getting a house on the mountains seems pretty nice. It would be a change from New England for Paul

Besides the obvious of winning the cup again with Philly (gonna be hard to top S69), all I wish to repeat is a nomination to best d-man in the league. In my peak season, I wasnt good enough to get a nomination and I carried that chip on my ahoulder to the next season. And despite a regression, I managed to hit the top 3 of the league for the first time in my career. Now with the new season looming, regression will hit me very hard and I'm not sure if I have it in me to get another nomination season. I hope I can get a small carry from our PP to make another push for the award but it will be a tough one. A lot of things will have to go my way and Phillys way for me to be able to repeat the height of my career.

Honestly the best team possible has to be team atlantic ocean. Yeah it sounds stupid but the amount of talent that is adjacent to the such a big ocean has to be the dream team. All the east coast and most of western europe would be under our command and we can even create new markets in other parts of the world. This teams landmark deserves a team because its an inmense ocean that deserves all the praise and honor that comes with having a team in an international competition. I would 100% transfer to this team, but im pretty sure we can argue that the atlantic ocean extends to include Germany. Granted id have to move to the coast but it would be worth it to play with the dream team of hockey. That being said we would probably get a lot of transfers since itd be hard to break the roster

This years finals was honrstly refreshing. The league has truly found a balance. Despite us losing to new england, I was glad to see them win... because it means we lost to the champions! That being said, you gotta feel for wpg since they made it back to back and lost both series in a heart breaking way. I honestly hope they have 1 more run in their tank and win it all at last. I do hope for next year tho that we see different teams in the semifinals (besides wpg and us of course) since we basically had same semis back to back

The fact that this question is be asked it due to flattery of the beautiful glowing Aurora and disrespect to the hard hitting fast burning Jets. Winnipeg should spread their firepower out and run multiple scoring lines.  Words ~ 60
b. So how do you shut down Petr Svoboda? Pretty easy beat him senseless. During the playoff last season and during the playoff this season, has anyone dropped the gloves against him. That small taste of playoff pain to Petr and you would see the numbers drastically reduced, but those physical players never seem to be there in today’s SHL playoffs. Words~60
c. How can New England help their goal tender? Well to start with their defense can start blocking some shots. Based on a slow they are moving out there I think that worthless defense should just sit on the ice and just absorb the shots along the ice and that would be better than what we have seen out of them. Hugh Manius’s numbers in the season 70 SHL this past season were completely average with every other player in SHL history. Considering he no ice in the SHL his numbers were completely on par with other players every other player in SHL including the greats. As everyone production is the same when not on the ice. This is true historic. Although Hugh Manius Season 70 in SMJHL for the Colorado Raptures is a completely different story as Manius had a decent season.  Hugh had 46 points consisting of 14 goals and 32 assists, with 10 of with 14 goals occurring during the powerplay. His physical game was not too shabby either as Mr. Manius racked up 72 hits, 120 blocked shots and his give away to take away ratio was 8 to 54. Additionally, Hugh had a plus minus of 28 and had in overall grade of 69 (I had to work that in somehow). As for repeating this history in the SHL? It is easily in Hugh’s grasp as long as he does not get called up.  Words~178

I think this helped Winnipeg to have some more high-level depth across their various lines and also helped our New England for the same reason.  Having a duo of Gobbledygook and Ekhold-Gunnarsson is one hell of a duo, but I do wonder about the overall depth in a longer series.  Do they have enough consistent firepower to share the load for seven games against a fiesty New England team?  That was a big reason for the ultimate outcome. Throughout my career, I've been on some great teams and had some individual success along the way.  But one of my highest individual achievements was to cross the 100-point line a few seasons ago.  I know that my peak playing days are likely behind me, but I'd love to be able to recreate that magic in Hamilton.  I definitely know the arena, the ice, and feel at home here since this was my first franchise, so that will certainly help.  I'm hoping that my status on the second line will open up some goal scoring opportunities and help me inch towards that goal.  Is it unlikely?  Yes.  But that doesn't mean I'm not going to go all in to try and make it happen.  Plus, we have a bunch of energetic young players in the franchise and that type of energy is infectious throughout the locker room.  We may not accomplish all of our goals, but we definitely have the right mindset and roster to give it a legitimate shot here this season. I really think this is setting up for a fantastic IIHG tournament for Sweden. We have a great mix of young players and veterans and of course have one of the best front offices in the entire international game.  The best thing about our squad is that we have skill at every position across the board.  We have elite scorers, rock solid defenders, silky smooth two-way players, and a great goalie.  There's just nothing that this team doesn't do well and I think our recent experience will prove to be incredibly valuable as well.  I'd love to take down Finland for the gold medal, but I don't want to put the cart before the horse.  As far as my player is concerned, I'm expecting to take a slight step back and be more of a veteran presence on this year's team, which is fine with me.  As long as we have success, I could not care less how much or how little I play.  Just get me to the podium! The very idea of this would make me physically ill because they are some of our most hated rivals, but the Scandinavian Mountains would create the greatest international hockey footprint of all time.  Not only do they form the backbone of Norway, but they also include Sweden and Finland as well.  Just think of the recent superstars you'd be getting.  Your roster would have players like Kaapo Kampainen, Walton Stromberg, Mat Smith, Grogu Mandosson, and Rikard Bjerg. We could fill the entire roster with league legends on all three lines and roll elite goalie after elite goalie into the net.  The biggest hurdle would be whether or not this team could gel, seeing that we're all pretty big rivals, but I think we could put that all behind us in the name of winning a gold medal.  After all, we're all Scandinavians and that does truly unite us all.  Good luck to Canada or USA or whichever other team thinks can stop us.  I don't like their chances. c. Olof Karsikko has made 823 saves in these playoffs, nearly twice the number of saves made by Winnipeg's Rebecca Montagne. What can New England do to help their tendie out? d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why?

a. I would for sure that this more balance attack makes for a stronger Winnipeg Aurora. Having more and more deadly threats out there just makes it all the more harder to defend against this team and it isn't like Rashford is not still killing it out there. It is pretty much like having to guard against 3 of him this time around.
b. Well with the series over, I guess they did not find out how but he did only have 1 more goal since the posting of this championship week. I think really when someone is super hot like that you just kind of hope they have a bad game, step up big time with your defense/goalie, or just outscore them.
c. First off, props to Olof for absolutely killing it. More than anything though I think this is just a bi-product of the extremely long series of games that New England has played during the playoffs but I think the best thing is maybe get a bit more aggressive on the offensive end to hopefully keep the puck on the other side.
d. Shoot I might be able to see in the future but I think the New England Wolfpack got this. I actually had the Aurora winning this finals just because it feels like they are just due to finally get their cup with how stacked of a roster they have had these last couple of seasons

I have a feeling that this answer is probably extremely common amongst other users but I would have to say just winning another challenge cup. With my last player, Nicholas Owens, I was able to win two challenge cups during my long career with the Buffalo Stampede but that was back in S55 and S60. I know for others it has been much longer with some people not even having won a cup, but with the group of guys I won that last cup with either aging out with their players or even as users I think it would be so cool to just win one more cup while they were still around in the locker room or before they start to become more inactive in the locker room. Unfortunately, all these teams just seem to be getting better and better in the SHL so it will be a very hard task but I'll keep my fingers crossed. (158 words)

Like you mention in the prompt, I think that the bear would have a heavy advantage if we were talking in terms of a one on one fight. It would be interesting to see how many wolves it would take, not many I imagine, to take down a bear but just to keep it to a one on one I would say this fight should be a cook off. Bears are mostly associated with honey but also with salmon fishing so I would expect the bear to probably make some honey glazed salmon dish for the competition. As for the wolves, it is a bit harder to say, Wolves do a lot of hunting a large variety of species but I think I will go with deer for them just because that is the animal I think of when thinking of that environment. So, out of the two potential dishes here I would probably still say the Bear wins. Salmon is just too good.

Write your predictions for this year's IIHF tournament or WJC! Tell me about your team! How far do you realistically expect to go this year? What nations do you want to match up against, and which do you dread? What are your expectations for your player?

As one of the Norway Fed Heads, I'm definitely going to hope that Norway does well. We've got great top lines and a pre-season that wasn't too bad. Last season was pretty awful but I'm hoping to get a little more skillful with FHM this season and avoid another horrible international series - the goal is definitely to make the playoffs and hopefully get my team some medals. I'm pretty loyal to my Scandinavian neighbors as well, so I'm hoping Sweden enjoys a good showing at the IIHF with some players that are also coming into their prime (although if we see Sweden on the ice, it's on sight.) And Finland, while not Scandinavia, is still a neighbor and does have some great players and friends in the leadership roles so I hope they do well too. I hope Aksel gets at least a point per game, as he's in his prime too. Alt for Norge!

Let's go TEAM! I'm pretty happy for NEW as I'm a fan of Luke and Jeffie (best NEW co of all tiiiiime). I did really want that first round upset of MAN defeating PHI to make up for last season, but also knew it would be a pipe dream. I have a lot of S62 brethren on Winnipeg so I was hoping they would win as well, but they're set up to have some great seasons ahead so I'm pretty confident they'll be able to snag a cup in the next few. I did also want Chicago to make it further, but hopefully we'll all see each other in next season's playoffs!

a. My belief has generally been of the opinion that having a more balanced top to bottom strength is what gets you to win consistently. Ultimately what you're hoping for isn't that one of the lines has a good night but that across the board that they're outplaying their opposition and by extension, the entire team.
b. Increasingly it's starting to feel like this league is getting to the point where there's almost no point in trying to shut any particular player or offense down. Instead the best thing to do is to maximize your own offense so that even if they score 3, you just do your best to score 4 or more.
c. Shot numbers appear to be increasingly deceiving in their value. IF you asked me 5 to 10 seasons ago, it almost felt as though that any number of shots was a good type of shot because you were essentially testing the goalie to make a mistake or to get a greasy rebound somehow. These days the quality of the shooters have increased to the point where it almost doesn't matter how many or how little they take.
d. Obviously a little late to the party but I would have confidently said Winnipeg takes it for a variety of reasons. Team structure and overall 'deservedness' if that even makes any sense. After seasons of pain and disappointment, it feels as thought this could or should be their time but it appears to not be the case...

3. (3)
This is such a tough tie. I would like to give the good team answer and say that getting to the finals and finally winning a Challenge Cup is what I would like to see happen again, especially with the joy that the entire team gets from this experience. There's been so many promising runs that have been victim of tough opposition that we haven't quite gotten over the hump against. That being said, this was the case when Chicago last won it's last Challenge Cup. However it really seems to be getting to the point where getting even into the Finals would be considered an absolute win on its own merit. Barring that type of situation happening, maybe something more selfish and fantastical would be the idea that I break the SHL Goal Scoring record again. I had hoped it would stand for longer and considering where my player is in his stage of his career that's essentially impossible but it would still be nice to dream of a situation like that.

Something that I have already referenced is the wild scoring rates that seem to be happening in the SHL. Some of it can be chalked up to the salt as a part of somebody who previously held the record but is now long forgotten with the regularity in which these records are broken, but this wild pendulum of select players on each team make it feel like a bit of a rich get richer situation. It's not entirely true because there's so much variation that you can't typically expect the same players (usually) to continue to have outstanding seasons. But in some ways it would be nice to see some of that wealth spread out through the rest of the team. I suppose the downside in that is not really feeling 'exceptional' if the deviations were minor.

Well this sure is an interesting match up to say the least. A glowing bear god lol vs a mighty wolfpack just from looking at the name I would probably say the glowing bear god would take the upper hand on this one but I wouldn’t count the wolfpack out. If there is no rules and the wolfpack gets home field in their own territory who knows what could happen. A pack of 15 to 20 wolfs and they’re pretty smart maybe they could come up with a strategy to catch the glowing bear god off guard. But even if we give the pack a lot of advantages I do find it hard for them to defeat the bear. I mean it’s a glowing bear god. A literal god and I don’t see how it can lose but hey who knows maybe even gods slip up sometimes. I would have to take the bear though in a bloody and good fight

There are not really any players in the SHL that I have something against and would love to trounce in a playoff series but one player I would love to do that to is dogwood maple. Me and Dogwood Maple met in another league not even SHL but a fake college basketball league where we coach a team and recruit players. In that league, Dogwood coaches the Georiga Bulldogs while I coach the Georgia Tech yellow jackets. So of course me and him have a rivalry going on in that league and he has always had the upper hand on me beating me like 8 out of the last 9 times we played each other. He is an absolute powerhouse in that league and I just can't seem to catch him probably because I don't really try though. So honestly I would love to beat dogwood maple badly in a playoff series and it would give me something to brag about in the league we're in whenever I lose to him lol.

I think that currently whatever winnipeg have been doing throughout the season and the playoffs have been working for them so it is hard to argue against their strategy of putting those 3 players together when it has gotten them all the way to the finals. Spread out attacks are definitely harder for opposing teams to deal with but that is all a theory and Winnipegs theory of stacking them is working out so props to them.

b. New England finds themselves in a similar situation to Winnipeg's last year: star winger Petr Svoboda has an absurd 30 points in 23 playoff games at the time this is posted. 18 of those are goals, 12 are assists: how do you shut this guy down?

When you have a single player driving the offence as hard as this guy has been doing it, you really got to make sure you plan around him and shut him down as that will shut down a lot of New Englands offence. To do that, i'd make sure you line up your best defensive line against him and let your other offensive players feed on the rest of the team.

I dont think that there is too much that New England can do to help out their goalie here against Winnipeg, but I know Karssiko from playing with him in Los Angeles and he will be just fine. I think that New England should just be focused on providing enough offensive support for Karsikko.

Well a good thing that happened in my career with Joans was definitely winning the Challenge cup, and luckily for Joans it happened 3 different times! It would be great for Joans if he could achieve that again but coming to the twilight of his career, he definitely should stay happy with what he was able to accomplish. I think now for Joans it is more about cementing his legacy in the SHL as one of the greatest offensive dmen to play the game. He already broke the record for Career goals by a defenceman and he is closing in on the Career points record as well, which he is hoping to break in the next couple of seasons before retiring. I think having another 40 point season would be a dream for Joans, and one that is not too out of reach of accomplishing, but he will have to have a better offensive season than he did last season. Don't know hos possible it will be with regression kicking his ass.

I think considering the winner of the Challenge cup, there were definite surprises in the playoffs, especially on the eastern side of things. I just personally did not expect New England to come all the way and win it all. If i am being honest I did not even expect them to make it out of the first round, although I'd have to check my bracket again. Props to them for defying all the odds throughout the entire playoffs and achieving what most ( or at least what I) did not think was possible. Winnipeg definitely must be seeing their window slip away, as they've made it to the finals 2 years in a row as the favourites but have lost both times. I think they need to keep it going because they will find success.
