a. The goal scoring race this season ended in a tie between Evil Allbran and Lias Ekholm-Gunnarsson, each potting a phenomenal 60 goals. They'll be lining up on opposide sides of the faceoff dot this all star game. Which of our league's best scorers would you rather have and why?

I can't have both, right? The tie makes it difficult since I like both of them and both have certainly shown how good they were for their respective teams. I have to pick LEG here since he isn't in my (future) conference and I don't have to play against him as often. I don't know if that's a good reason, but that's my answer.

b. Borje Samuelsson lead all the league's defensemen in points this season with an incredible statline of 22-59-81 in 66 games played. However, the best defensive defenseman in this all star game is Adelie de Pingu, who put up 16-40-56 in the same number of games played while still recording the best average defensive performance of anyone who made primetime. Which of these defensemen will have a better showing this weekend and why?

I'm afraid scoring will always win over the fans. We know defense is important, but Borje Samuelsson will likely win this little 'competition' between the two defenders. The statistics nerds might see this differently and rate Adelie de Pengu higher, but we will also have 'your regular hockey fan' watching the game and they just want goals.

Tell me about your teammate who made the all star game! Who are they, what makes their game special, and why are they going to utterly dominate this event? (If more than one of your teammates made the game, pick one of those players other than yourself. If you are the only player on your team selected for the all star game so far, then and only then may you pump your own tires.)

When I say "my team" I'll refer to Toronto and not Newfoundland, because this is clearly about the SHL and not the SMJHL. There really only is one player from Toronto in this so that makes it easier. It's Jimmy Larkin-Conway aka JLC aka Toronto's superstar right now who is representing our team. We all know that the North Stars are rebuilding and you can't expect all that much from a player on such a team, so let's ignore the plus/minus for a bit. JLC managed to score 72 points this past season which is 20 more than the next best player on the team. That's not really his best season, but it's better than the two seasons before and we can't forget that it's a player in regression already. On top JLC is shooting like crazy and only five shots behind the league's leader with 331 shots on goal. The chances are definitely there and everyone should be excited to see this player in the All Star Game.

c. The eastern conference will be lining up in front of netminders Casey Fantoben and Brick Wall, while the west will play in front of Justin Time and Jon St. Ark. Which team should be more comfortable with their backstop tandem? Why?

b. I would wager a guess that Borje Samuelsson will have the better weekend overall. Although Adelie de Pingu has had a terrific career thus far, Samuelsson has played the more complete season and will play up to those expectations on a super stacked Eastern Conference squad. I would be scared if I were going against either player!

c. If I had to choose between any goaltending tandem, it would have to be the beasts from the East in Casey Fantobens and Brick Wall. Brick Wall was in the top 5 of my top 100 SHL players of last season and for good reason. This future Hall of Famer is one of the scariest goaltenders the SHL has ever seen. Fantobens is no slouch as well, having just won the SHL Championship with Buffalo.

Which player NOT on your own team are you most excited to see in action? Do you finally get the chance to cheer on a hated rival's star player as they represent your conference? Have you been tormented by a young player on a rebuilder that hasn't yet made their mark on teams out-of-conference?

The player not on the Toronto North Stars that I would be most excited to see in action is young gun Lias Ekholm Gunnarsson. Perhaps the most complete offensive juggernaut in all the SHL, Ekholm Gunnarsson had the most points in the league this past season, but was still one off their total last season. It will be tough to cheer on Hamilton's Tommy Westbrook, but his athleticism will be fun to watch for the Eastern All-Stars. He seems like he will be a thorn in the side of the Toronto North Stars for years to come, so having him on our side will be huge. One player who will be fun to watch and that we haven't seen much of is S67's Meta Knight, who plays for Minnesota. Who are they? What can they do? What position do they play? All these questions and more will be answered and I cannot wait!
