Written Task: It was all a trick. The mice believe that their project to calculate the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything has finally revealed its answer: the game you've been teaching the galaxy. Using your games as footage, the mice have created enough extraterrestrial fans to found the Pan-Galactic Hockey League.

I'm a slick and witty guy, I know the multiverse exists and there are multiple versions of reality we are talking unlimited possibilities here! And I happen to have the technology to go between realities so I will start by challenging the league of my current universe so that I can legitimately get rid of that idea of having ugly-ass sponsors all over my beautiful jerseys! I will train my squad in order to undertake the ultimate challenge! I will work so that they understand that this is more than a fight to win a Championship but it is to save a League as well as an idea! To show the Universe that commercialism will not take over the game of Hockey if we have something to do about it! I will train my team to have the season of their lives in a Do or Die scenario and if they happen to fail... Well... I can always switch to another reality, one where things would be as close as they can from my own and start over using the experience gained from the whole thing.

BUT I'd rather stay in my reality and win. :D

Creative Prompt

So it seems another major corporation is trying to copyright an idea or product. Well, then it is time to lawyer up and take the commissioner to the intergalactic court where the case will be settled on if one can truly copyright the game of hockey and what does that mean in terms of free use and the best interest of the public. And so, Sato and his supporting team of fellow aliens suit up and lawyer up with some of the best intergalactic lawyers in the galaxy to bring the PGHL to court for their supposed claim over the game of hockey. Sato, his team of aliens, and even his past opponents go up and testify why hockey cannot be copyrighted and that the game is for all to enjoy. One after another, it seems the jury is listening intently but it does not appear if they have come to a solid conclusion. The trial lasts for over 1 week on earth and the jury leaves to deliberate. The fate of the trial unknown, but the story ends as we await the results.

I think the only fair thing to do is play for the rights. I taught them the game, and it’s something that has been played on earth for a very long time and for them to just simply come out and take it, that’s not right and cannot be taken sitting down. The only fair thing to do is you have a 7 game series, just like the playoffs. And to make it fair we’ll play 3 games on earth, 3 games in the Pan-Galactic planet and 1 game at a neutral site, some random planet in between the two. That way there’s no complaints.

This series would settle the rightful owner of hockey. That doesn’t mean the others can’t still play, but they owe royalties and fees for using the sport and playing it on their planet. This would be the way to go, and with the talent in the SHL, I’m sure we could assemble one crazy team to win that series and take the rights back to where they belong.

it is hard for me to sit here and talk about how the philadelphia forge, a simulation hockey league franchise, are going to get demolished. not because i do not think that the simulation hockey league franchise that i presently play for, the hamilton steelhawks, are unable of doing so. they are one of the most historically successful franchises in the league for a reason; they can break down teams like a very ripped dude could break a pencil. it is just that i have previously been associated with the forge in a previous capacity (my previous player spent time on the forge and i did enjoy my time there a lot) and saying mean things about them will hurt both their and my feelings. so i will limit it to this: philadelphia, you guys are cool and all, but the hamilton steelhawks are back to claim their rightful throne at the top of the league and we might have to go through you.

Hockey prompt:

Oh boy, this one's gonna hurt. The Calgary Dragons missed the playoffs by one game to the New Orleans Specters, and in fact it was a lot closer than that. There were three moments that all contributed to (and in one case was the entire difference) Calgary missing the playoffs. The first was a game against the Manhattan Rage where the Dragons blew a 4-2 third-period lead to the bottom team in the SHL before losing 5-4 in a shootout, so that's one point right there. The second was against the Buffalo Stampede, where with barely any time left on the clock the Stampede scored the game-winning goal in another 5-4 loss for the Dragons, so that's at least another point there, if not two. Finally, on the last day of the season Calgary still had a chance to make the playoffs as long as they picked up one point and the Specters lost both their games. With 33 seconds left, the Toronto North Stars were leading New Orleans 4-3 before they surrendered the tying goal and then lost in overtime, so while the Dragons got their one point it wasn't enough to get in. While the Dragons had an underpowered offense all year, they were 33 seconds away from making the playoffs and lost that chance in agonizing fashion.

I can not believe another season has passed and the Toronto North Stars of the Simulation Hockey League have been snubbed from playoff contention yet again. There must be a backroom deal in place preventing this from happening because it is just so incredible to me that year after year, season after season, we are not making it. Honestly I think it is because the league knows that the media attention will be way too much to handle in case we lose down the line in the playoffs, or even worse, if we end up winning it all, so they are intentionally keeping us out of the playoffs. Even now with our rebuild coming to fruition, I am sure that something will come up, either a player gets injured or forces their way off the team, the schedule has an insane amount of back to backs, the season is shortened, I just know something will happen to stop us from making it again next season.

Alexandros Mograine was drafted by the Chicago Syndicate but is currently playing in the SMJHL with the Carolina Kraken so I will write about them. This Season the Carolina Kraken finished 5th in the SMJHL and have the pleasure of playing in the playoffs. Our first-round opponents will be The Colorado Raptors in which we currently are leading the series 2-0 after winning both games today 7-2 and 4-3. It seems based of the results we will be beating them in every way, we have been dominant on the offense scoring 11 goals in 2 games and strong defensively with only 5 goals against in 2 games. I anticipate us to keep up the offensive pressure and outscore any chance of them competing against us while keeping up the defensive pressure so they stay at a manageable goal total for us. Due to our higher placement in the standings we have had a bit of an easier start to the playoffs but we have to keep a hold of this pressure and carry it through the second round.
