Hello everyone,

I have decided to do a little write up on the issues I have with the SHL. I will start by saying that this is not to be rude in any which way. I want it to just be an opinion that I have and want to share that isn’t supposed to hurt any one’s feelings. I am just going to start off by writing one or two things that I have an issue with. I may or may not add my thoughts on a way it could be better. If I enjoy writing this then I may add further editions down the road.

The main thing I want to talk about today is the length of time it takes for your player to be effective in the SHL. We spend 4 seasons in the SMJHL and can take upwards of 3-5 season in the SHL before you become a top tier player. I’m currently in season three in the SHL and am still not a point per game player. That’s seven season total, which is fourteen months of real life time and have still not become a superstar with my player. This is a crazy amount of real life time to get to experience that. I don’t necessarily have a solution for this one but it is certainly a big problem.

Thank you for listening to me ramble about my first topic. I will consider continuing this in the future if requested. I’m very curious to get other people’s thoughts on this topic and if there are ways to resolve it.

I wanted to put in some thought before answering.

You are right, it does seem to take forever to become a point per game player, even more so elite. I was curious and looked into a number of older successful forwards.

The average became point per game at season (SHL) 4. Before that they were all good just a little below point per game season 3 and mixed results season 2 and 1.

What I did notice and was encouraging they all stayed elite, obviously with continued development, for another 6-8 seasons beyond season 4. So for the majority of their SHL lives they were above point per game.

So I agree it takes a while to get there, but good news you stay there for a while once you get there, and you are litterally at the cusp of it.

Now the other thing, there are younger players who are already point per game players even one rookie. So sometimes by dumb luck, team situation or coaching it looks like you may get lucky and get a jump on the situation.

As for an answer to how to make the most and collect the most points...take advantage of free agency and move to a team up and coming that will give you top minutes. That is why we have the option to become free agents.

I dont think it is realistic for everyone to become a superstar but with time and patience you can become that. It is also important to note that you can be an "effective" player right from your 5th season. Depending on how good a team you are on and your role it can be harder to see results but you will matter if you max earn and hit that 900~ tpe after the J. I can see why you want this to go faster(which technically 7 seasons is closer to 11/12 months) but it makes the careers of all players and those that spend the effort that much more meaningful

I don't have stats off hand to back it up, but I am positive I have seen 2k tpe players get less than ppg before, and rookies get point per game. Realistically it also has to do with how you are deployed, if the sim likes your player, the quality of team you are on etc.

As an example one of my seasons when I was at like 1800 tpe I only hit 58 points. So realistically, not everyone will become a superstar, and while yes you can earn a lot of tpe it doesn't guarantee that your player will perform better than someone with less TPE, however statistically you would. There's just a lot of factors that are involved that go further than just pure TPE/Earning.
